Just found your channel and think it's fantastic. Your 10 mistakes to avoid are absolutely spot on. As someone who has been collecting for over 50 years, I would add that not only don't spend a ton on framing (I agree that acid free matting and a frame can be purchased cheap), but make sure what ever you get, replace the glass with UV and try to keep your finished product out of direct sunlight.
Great video! I recently got into collecting and I'm still learning the ins and outs. Tip number 10 is so true! Sometimes I'll see a good deal on an autograph I don't really feel too excited about, and the temptation just to collect is there. Going to apply your method going forward!
Matt one of your best videos. I appreciate your insight and honesty especially with #8. You seem to genuinely look out for those purchasing autographed memorabilia

I recently started collecting cards and now thinking of memorbillia. I have learned a lot of incredible information thank to several of your videos. Thank you for uploading great content for people like myself. In the end about insurance, does the value of the item go listed as that items value of the day insured or on day damaged/stolen?
Insurance will pay for the value of what you insured it for when you took out the policy. Since collectibles are ever changing it’s important to update the policy every year.
I have a local memorabilia store in my city. They have amazing autographed merch. Signed jordan jerseys ($15k), signed babe ruth baseball ($28k) and so on. I purchased a signed cowboys jersey that came with a COA from Steiner but there is no serial number. I emailed Steiner and they said anything pre 2016 will not have a serial number but that I could send it in and get re-aunthenticated with a serial number. I also have a signed football on layaway and that does not have a COA but player holograms that I guess their signing company (GTSM) only issues out once they witness the player sign the item which "is considered authenticated". Should I trust this local retailer....especially with such high end merch or should I be extremely skeptical? Any advice from avid collectors would be greatly appreciated Edit: I contacted the stores manager and he invited me to meet with him this week to go over the COA's and show me what to look for. The signatures do look legit based off of comparison photos I've done from other reputable memorabilia websites but the lack of those COA's and/or serial numbers has me second guessing
Can you do a video on "autograph grading" vs "card grading?" There are no videos that explain the differences. How is an autograph card graded (for its autograph?) I have a card that isn't a gem mint 10, but has a bold dark signature (with a paint marker.) I was thinking of getting it encapsulated and graded solely on it's autograph. Thanks!
all very good points.. What do you think about MJ senior Las Vegas flight camp COA signed items. UD doesn't have the hologram number on there database.
Jordan is such an expensive autograph nowadays. Always a good idea to have the physical uda cert with the hologram in database or email from uda stating they can verify the hologram. On top of that making sure the actual signature on the item matches legit Jordan autos.

I always wanted to know why sports memorabilia shops were going out of business and got my answer the other day🤣was needing money bad so I called Sports Investments/Cincinnati Ohio in what they literally say on their website they accept anything of your collection. Asked if he'd be interested in Patrick Mahomes and Luka Doncic autographed jerseys/certificates of authenticity all there and couldn't believe what I was hearing. Said wasn't really interested "more into game used", "try ebay". I even offered this guy the bare minimum of what I paid for em which at the time before they both took off was like $500-600 and I got em through the official team websites that goes directly into Fanatics. Rn they're valued at anywhere between $1,200-1,500. Not only a dont give a shit about profit but they dead ass could've prioritized it as long term stock and waited 5-10 years and really profited numbers of 3k-5k like Lebron has recently. Ohtani is next on my list too.
I'd disagree with the framing point because if you're framing an extremely valuable autograph that cost a couple of thousand dollars, it's very important to spend proper money to get conservation grade framing because if you don't, over time your valuable autograph will suffer irreparable damage, not only from lighting sources, but also from room humidity that is difficult to adequately control. The kind of framing materials you're using can also damage the autograph. You should have made the point that it depends on how valuable the autograph is as framing isn't just about the aesthetics, framing also plays an important role in preservation and protecting what is potentially a very fragile and historical piece from humidity and other environmental damage
Framing is so cheap nowadays. Taking it to Michael’s or some other expensive place like that is not recommend. Almost everyone uses acid, free, matting, and UV glass nowadays. How you store it is actually more important than the framing materials.

I hope you have a chance to see this comment but I have some sports memorabilia that’s signed and a limited edition Peyton manning type thing that has a engraved signed thing, 63/500 made. Also some worn gloves and a football with multiple colts players signatures. I have no idea where to go to sell this other than going through to an auction but I also don’t really have the funds to send the memorabilia in to get authenticated. I guess I’m asking for some advice and maybe if you have an idea on what this stuff could be worth. I looked online for it but none of these things are being sold anywhere that I can find. Thank you

New to collecting and your channel. Loving the content! Here's a question. You say don't overpay for framing. But you also say display your items properly. A local framer quoted me $255-$400 for an 8x10 with acid-free mats and conservation UV or museum UV glass. Alternatively, I could buy a frame online with suede mats in team colors, UV glass (of unknown quality), team medallions and an engraved nameplate for $60. So to be frank, is the $60 version junk? Or is the $255-$400 version a ripoff? I want to protect my photo, but I don't want to overspend. Can you help me out?
