As someone thats been selling autographs for 30 years, and been getting autographs for almost 40, I can tell you what they said in this story is only the tip of the iceberg. The BIGGEST red flag should have been the prices he was getting stuff for. To have that collection for 13K should have been his biggest warning right there. The names shown in that piece ALONE should have cost around the 13K he said his entire collection cost, which we never saw 90% of.

Coaches Corner Auctions uses very bad authenticators and most of the coa’s from PSA,JSA, Steiner, and Upper Deck are usually forgeries. I purchased two items from them before I new anything about the Autograph hobby. I collect autographs and most of mine are real, but you have to do your research and be your own authenticator get your autographs in person. PSA and other Third Party Authenticators do pass bad autographs. You can’t be 100% and mistakes do happen. I hope one day Coaches Corner Auctions will be shut down so no one will ever be ripped off.

ALWAYS do your homework, learn the players signatures best you can and compare!!! If you do your best with this and you are NOT collecting for the value or the hope you make money some day on it, then it all really shouldnt matter! Get what you want because you like it, not the sexy value parts. Reprint cards cost less and look the same to display in your man rooms, fake autos look close enough and cost so much less, yet still display the same as the real deal would, only you now have more in the bank on top of the Foxx auto ball!!! Its all how one views it in the end, ok you know its fake ans you spent a fraction on the Gehrig ball but you can tell all your buddies its real, no one has to know unless you tell them!!! Let it all display nice and enjoy...it is all it should ever be in the first place! Some of the cost on real items is a joke anyways!

Maybe highly forged autos such as Mantle and Jeter are but I doubt 80% of autos on eBay are forgeries. But if you are buying one that's not certified by one of the big 3 authenticators, then there's a great chance what you are buying isn't real.
