I just rented this on RUclips, I haven't seen it since 73, I'm 54 now. I love this song, and I miss my mom and pops. A Friday night, a bucket of KFC with all the sides or some home cooked fried chicken and some sweat tea. Damn, those was some good times. That shit brought a tear.
For the time it was. The movie was made on a budget of $100,000 and took in 25 million. And this was in 1972 so when you adjust for inflation, it equals up to over 150 million today. Not bad for an independent film.
At the point this song is first heard in the movie, it has been really scary. But when it plays you are still afraid but less so because you are also sad for the creature. For me, hearing the song at the end and the voiceover that accompanies it, I cry like I did then.
i feel the exact same way. this wonderful film played in the late 1970's-early 1980's pretty regularly on weekends on channel 5 wnyw in new york when i was a kid. this beauting, haunting song stayed with me for 30 years until i found it on youtube 30 years later & i cried like a baby. rest in heavenly peace to my parents, til i'm reunited with them.
It makes us feel sorry for the creature. He's not evil or bloodthirsty. He's a lonely being, perhaps the very last of his kind, destined to die alone in the Arkansas woods, mostly forgotten by the world.
Remember watching this with my dad way way back. There used to be a channel that did horror movies late at night on Saturdays in the late Seventies. He got me hooked on Kulchak The Night Stalker. Remember that too.
I remember first watching this in the mid 70s on tv with my dad and brothers eating popcorn. This song brings back fond memories of my dad and mom. Rip. I own this movie on VHS and DVD. Scary then and even today very eerie and creepy. Strange unexplained noises in the night. 😱😱
I feel sorry for the creature. I think he is actually lonely and wants a friend but is the only one of his kind in the area and so he tries making friends with the humans but they think he is dangerous and he is sad about it. I would be friends with him.
I first seen this movie on TV playing at KTLA channel 5, Family Film Festival at a taco restaurant 7th and Broadway DownTown Los Angeles... Didn't matter that it was at a busy intersection in the middle of a city my 8 year old self was still scared that a giant hairy beast was going to pop out of an alley way ... man that movie was scary..

"The Town That Dreaded Sundown" obviously was made by the same movie crew of this one. Even the same narrator. It's a sort of combination of "Boggy Creek" and "Friday the 13th, Part 2". (Both claiming to be based on true events)

That sounds good.
Right with you… I was also terrified by Bigfoot 😅😅😅😅
That’s pretty deep.
I have so many drive-in theater memories with my folks. They're gone, as well.
Sounds like a nice childhood ♥
This movie is actually kinda scary even now
I thought I was the only person who remembered this song, and was haunted by its sad beauty...
It should have been a huge hit...
It was, to some of us..........❤️

no independent film could make as much as this film did.
Catchy tune.

Why do I love this song so much 😂

I agree
I wold love to watch it again
I saw this movie in a theater when I was young, it scared me to death 😮 this song is so haunting
Saw this at the Drive-In with my family when I was 7 or 8. Scared the crap out of me. I’ve been a believer ever since.
the only horror movie that closes with a song that tries to understand the inner pain of the villain/monster?
And it does it in the simplest way. The Fouke monster isn't a bloodthirsty killer. He's misunderstood.
I think the same

You mean Kojack: the Night Stalker?
i want to record a metal version of this. including the frog solo.

its back up on youtube! very good documentary intermission song
This... this hits different.... i feel bad for the "monster" i don't think he's a monster at all.
It's even sadder when you consider the possibility that he's the last of his kind, destined to walk alone and unaccepted until his final days.
I think the same thing
Love legend of boggy creek
Found this movie in sunrise records 2 years ago. Needless to say I bought it. Thanks cinema snob
Awesomeness!! Thank you for sharing!! 👹
I remember watching this when I was a kid " it scared me then, it scares me now"
Finally, a good quality version. Thank you :)
Great sound quality. Thanks for putting that on youtube. Could you put the Travis Crabtree song on here as well?

I think the same thing he didn't harm anyone till that kid shot a double barrel shotgun at him that's when he became aggressive with humans
Start song at 2:30

The 70s were a life time ago.

Reminds me of the evil dead tape 1982.
Have a yearly festival down in Faulk thinking about going. Movie was classic i think people saw something out there but who knows what it was
DAMN.
OH G ITS SEW BUTIFUL ITS MY JAM! 😱. I FILL IT ME!!!!!🤭😭😭😭😭😢
I wonder what sounds were used to make the creature’s roar
That's a good question it be cool if it was actual recordings of the Fouke Monster roaring
Almost sounds like howler monkey

Soon urban sprawl will end the wilderness
I really want to record my own cover of this classic song and have the legendary Bob Gimlin speaking at 4:26-4:54.
