It's very realistic. When you go to prison, (sometimes you see shades of it just in county jails, which is different than prison) you find quickly that it's all about RACE. You will clique up with your race, or you will be targeted. Not many people can survive the "Lone Wolf" life in a prison. Then, you never know what's going to happen. You get sucked into something violent, get caught, and more time added. Happens all the time. This movie is VERY realistic.

    Dear Joshua.
I know it's been nearly six
years since you heard from me.
    I can't believe you're
    already in tenth grade.
It's like time has flown by and
stood still all at the same time.
    It's usually a father's hope
    that his son will follow
    in his footsteps. Thankfully,
that won't be the case with us.
    I never meant to
    hurt you, Josh...
    But I have failed you
    in every way possible.
My intention with this letter is
to properly say good-bye to you.
    Why it's taken me so
    long, I don't know.
Maybe I'm a coward after all.
    Make your mark in
    this world, son.
    Always be your mom's protector.
    And no matter what
    you hear about me,
    you keep moving forward...
    And never look back.
    Your father.

Have true humility. Understand that for all your abilities and successes, the universe can take everything away from you. That homeless man you pass, perhaps he is such a person. Show compassion on those whose pain you cannot fathom.

This soundtrack just makes me think of every interaction these characters had, from the scene in the flower shop, the "were doing this." right before the attack, the moment of respect then when the beast says "lets get down wood." I think the fact that this soundtrack is gentle yet powerful is a perfect representation of the vulnerable moments these men had right before shit went down.

This Music and the movie makes me realize the things that I have been through in prison. Really Harsh how life flows in a bad way in just 1 mistake. Now I'm a free man, I will refresh and have a good start again, life really don't exist inside those walls and many code of conducts. Seldom people don't know how to be in, keeping you away from your family by paying your debts or crime.

My mom spent so much time away from me in prison. We’ve met like 7 times in our lifetime before she died.
    Seeing the California weather…
Knowing the days of freedom I had and the days she spent locked away.
All the same, I was free in the sun and she was locked away.
I felt a lot if that in this movie.

There is just something about how Antonio Pinto does his work. It is always raw , rocking you to the core . I have noticed it in Lord of War in Senna and now here . I am sad that he is so underrated. For me personally he is waaaay better than Hans Zimmer. Epoch is not his style , like Zimmer did the best with Gladiator, Inception and Pirates of the Carribian . But the way every note of Pinto resonates with your emotions , sending infinite vibrations along the string of the emotional spectrum , I would say he is the best at conveying emotions in movies .

@@captainkapalot9644 Blood in Blood Out is too long and way over dramatic. American Me is the best prison movie period because it's based on a true story. I would take Shot Caller at number 2 because half of the movie is out of prison.
