We all forgot that Cho was only a teenager when Cedric died. She was like 16-17. She didn't move on very fast. She struggled a lot, cried a lot, remembered him a lot. But eventually understood that she has to move on in order to continue her life. What is wrong with moving on? Do you expect her cry about Cedric for decades or what?
it wasn't so much toxic as much as they had a really bad foundation for the relationship with Cedric and all. Harry could have been the normal BF but became the rebound boyfriend after Cedric whom she never had closure with. anyone would have been in a rocky relationship
tbh I never really felt there was a relationship to start with. They barely talk to each other and when they did, they were sooo awkward. Sadly, whatever kind of relationship they could’ve had ended before it even began. 😪

Cho Chang was such an underrated character... yes she cried a lot and was extremely sensitive but her boyfriend had just died by someone who everyone presumed to be dead. And yes some could argue that Harry handled it differently but he grew up with it and everyone does handle situations differently. I personally love Cho Chang.
Cho is one of the most underrated characters in Harry Potter. I mean, she loved Cedric but remained in good terms with Harry n Goblet of Fire which is very respectful. When Cedric died, Cho was very broken inside and the only person she felt she could talk to was Harry. I know a lot of people thought she was a crybaby but if you look deep inside her character, I can't help but feel awful for her. Also, when she mentioned her parents wanted her to side with Umbridge, but in her heart, she supported Dumbledore's Army, what would you do in that situation as parents vs friends. I just wish after the events of Order of the Phoenix, that Cho would get a redemption (both in books and films) because we got no apology between her and Harry. I think a good redemption would of been her to duel Peter Pettigrew in Malfoy Manor to fully avenge Cedric as Peter was the one who killed him. Also, it would of got rid of Cho's jealousy of Hermoine if she witnessed what Bellatrix did to Hermoine.
I agree so much with your comment. I'm actually sick to death of all these people bashing on Cho and calling her a crybaby. Her boyfriend died! What the hell is she supposed to do, be *happy* for all of eternity? Cho was absolutely not using Harry. She did genuinely have a crush on him, and Cho felt like dating Harry would cheer her up in the end. Unfortunately, Harry has a different way of dealing with PTSD than Cho, and that's partly why they didn't work out. And I think Cho redeeming herself and ending on good terms with Harry would've been beautiful. Why does Snape have to have redemption instead... 😑 #JusticeForCho

The films did Cho a great disservice, I'm not keen on her in the films and while she's still not one of my favourite characters from the books, she does have more personality there and represents someone who is clearly going through trauma. I know when my nan died (someone I was very close to all my life), I was heartbroken and cried a lot on and off over the course of two years, I was also quite sensitive at times and just plain miserable. It just goes to show that when you love someone very much, the hurting doesn't stop when they die, everyone deals with it in different ways.
Indeed. You never know how you will respond to grief. I know it isn't nearly on the same level, but it took me about a year and a half to be able to mention my cat without welling up. It was in no small part because there was a lot of time when it was just the two of us after my wife left on days I didn't have my daughter. We have to understand that people have to go through their process.

She is just a love interest like let’s be honest here. Her ENTIRE storyline revolves around her love interests and her being Cedric and Harry’s love interest.
I think Cho should have spent more time grieving Cedric before getting involved in another relationship. She may have felt a connection with Harry because he was the one who saw Cedric die. And she totally misunderstod the relationship between Harry and Hermione not seeing it was just a strong friendship with nothing romantic.
Cho Chang was in love with Cedric Diggory. Obviously when he died, she was heartbroken. All her dreams of living with him was shattered. She certainly needed support. She wanted to talk about her feelings. That was when she began dating Harry. Sadly, at the time, Harry was dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder because of Cedric's death, false accusations, etc. Harry's way of coping was to talk to his best friends ONLY, and those best friends were Ron and Hermione so he would obviously tell Hermione rather than Cho. Harry and Cho didnt work out simply given the tough circumstances and their opposite ways of dealing with things.

@mxt mxt to be fair, it's never easy to lose someone you love. And everyone was going through hard times there. The fact Harry had a lot of problems to go through doesn't make Cho's suffering less serious or respectable.
You know what I loveee about this page aside from the amazing organization and setting, its that if a scene is missing in the movies but present in the book, you use animations to visually represent the story line and you do so perfectly, hands down awesome page and video👍🏼😍

I have a lot of sympathy for Cho. I don't believe the books ever mentioned how long she and Cedric had been together, or how serious they were. But it's been a few years since I read the books so I'm not sure. For all we know they'd been together since first year, discussed marriage and a family when they graduate. Losing someone you love and have envisaged a future with is unbelievably hard, I wouldn't be surprised if she had clinical depression at this point, and being at a boarding school may not have had access to therapy or medications. That colours your entire life and makes it hard to think rationally.
It was only around 6 months. Although as Hermione said, she was probably extremely conflicted about liking harry. I think her real problem was the fact that she didn't seem to get to talk it out like harry did. When she wanted to, she was already all emotional, and you know how that works.
I honestly don’t know why people hate Cho. Some people say that it’s because Cho exposed Dumbledore’s Army. But she couldn’t help it. Umbridge used Verataserum on her. Im pretty sure she wouldn’t have revealed them if the serum wasn’t used and she still wouldn’t have revealed them even if she was tortured.
To everyone who hates cho for crying: it isn’t easy to loose someone you care about. Grief isn’t something you just get over. It takes time to mourn and grieve and cry . Being in hog warts wasn’t the same after his death , especially at hogwarts because that was where they spent time together and have all of their memories.
This is in my eyes the point of that channel > Explaining to peoples that can't/don't want to read the book what really happens, and put things on together to whoever might've forgotten them after reading 7 whole books.
I quite liked Cho, and to go through that trauma so young can’t have been easy. I do wonder what happened to her - did she still live and work as a witch with her powers, or live a muggle life like her husband.

Because they haven't read the books, they've just seen the movies. In the movies she betrays the DA to Umbridge, but in the books her friend Marietta is the traitor as this video points out.
Kejsi Hoxha Cho cried more out of frustration than anything, which is quoted in the book. Cho had been doing badly all year at Quidditch due to her grief and she had also just broken up with Harry. Her year was tumultuous, so when she was once again defeated, yes she cried in anger, because sometimes, when everything just seems to be going wrong, you just feel like crying. And she did, and there's nothing wrong with that. Fact is, Cho crying is not something she does at the drop of a hat. If she was always this emotional over matches, Harry would have seen her cry many times when she loses, like when she lost against him. But she didn't. It's clear her tears were based off more than just a game. As for her going on a date to discuss another boy, dont forget that Harry brought up a girl first (Hermione). Yeah, WE know Harry only feels friendship for Hermione, but how would Cho know this, when Harry never tells her anything to assure her? I mean, even when she jealously asked him how many other girls hes planning to meet, Harry laughs. (Yeah, we know why, but Cho doesn't). Not once did Harry ever explain himself. Not to mention, just last year, Cho had gotten a bunch of articles filled with stuff about Hermione playing with Harry's heart, we had Viktor Krum wondering if the two had something, and even Molly Weasley was fooled. Most importantly, Ron himself expressed suspicion at one point to where Harry to assure him too that Hermione was just his friend. So yeah, when Harry mentioned Hermione, meeting her in the middle of their date, Cho got jealous and brought up other boys, partly to make Harry jealous to try and uncover how much he cares (by mentioning Roger Davies), and partly because she needed to discuss a topic so important to her (Cedric's murder). Cho never felt she got closure, and she didn't have anyone to talk to who understood like Harry would. She genuinely liked Harry, but she wasn't ready to move on and she tried to force herself. Which wasn't good. But shes just human, she was only 16 going through something so awful.

If someone is tortured to near death and another loses their mother, who determines what is worse? And does one being worse, make the others pain irrelevant or invalid? No, it doesn't. Cho was being childish? Perhaps. But she's a teenager, teenagers can be childish. You're really going to judge her, when Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, etc have all had many immature, childish moments? Maybe you dont like them either, but if you do, then you have to admit, her having any moment of childishness is hardly condemnable. Cho didn't mention Cedric until Harry mentions Hermione. And again, it's pretty unfair to expect Cho to have an innate understanding of Harry and Hermione's friendship, when we have people like Molly Weasley and RON of all people, both who questioned whether there was more to Harry and Hermione than just friendship. You can't expect Cho to be in the know, but then ignore that folks who've known Harry and Hermione far longer, wondered the same thing. And when you add on the fact that Harry actually tells Ron and Molly that their is nothing between him and Hermione, but he NEVER tells Cho? How can you ignore the blatant fail that was Harry not giving Cho necessary assurance? Even Hermione got on him for it. As for Cho getting upset at Hermione, it was a mix between jealousy at Hermione because she still thinks Harry likes her, (because again he never makes that clear), and loyalty toward the one friend who stood by her after everything.

Because the 4th-6th movies didn't give a flying shit about fan service... the 4th movie axed the Quidditch World Cup, the 5th movie axed St. Mungos among many other things, the 6th movie ignored a lot of Voldemort's interesting backstory. Basically, if something wasn't directly relevant to the main plot, it was discarded. Why the fuck would you even make the movie then??? The 7th/8th movies did a better job, but even the 7th movie for whatever idiotic reason deleted Dudley and Harry making up and included Harry and Hermione randomly slow dancing...

Conclusion: Gryffindors have much worse fate than Ravenclaws.
Gryffindors ,Hufflepuffs and Slytherins have also endured plenty of anguish : lost parents,Sirius getting framed and locked in Azkaban for 12 years,lost his life nearly 3 years later,Amos Diggory was a Hufflepuff who lost his only child,the Weasleys lost Fred,Snape had one of the worst lives ever and he was a textbook Slytherin, in some respects
Cho got such horrible treatment as a character by Rowling (speaking from a writer's POV). Her character and personality from the start of the series was diminished (to the point of being canceled out) and she was turned into nothing more than a plot device to force the idea of Ginny on us (I suspect as wish fulfillment for Harry marrying into the Weasleys - like the oddball Hermione/Ron union). If Rowling wanted, it would have been entirely possible to write Cho in a way that made her human and respectable, while still pointing out why she and Harry weren't compatible as a couple - at least they could have been friends. Heck, she could have even competed with Ginny on a realistic level, not just turned into some stupid caricature. Instead, Rowling took the easy way out and spent OotP throwing Cho in the worst light possible and contriving every interaction she and Harry had to make it look like they were emotionally volatile around each other, creating a perfect foil for Ginny - who wasn't exactly what you would call honorable. It was some of the worst storytelling of the entire series.

Reading through the comments, I am appalled at how much Cho-bashing there is going on. Her boyfriend died. She has every right to be sad. I do agree with Harry, when he says, " Why does she keep dredging up a subject that makes her act like a human hosepipe?", but it is rude and therefore an insult to Cedric's memory to take iconic HP moments then add: Cho: *starts crying*. Going through the trauma of losing a boyfriend at such a young age is NOT something that should be laughed at. Cho is one of the most realistic characters in the series but also one of the worst written characters as JK Rowling threw her under the bus as soon as the Valentine's Date came. Also because both her parents and friends did not support her during her time of need after Cedric died, it's completely realistic to be really emotional.

I really liked Cho and it is reasonable for her to start crying out of grief for Cedric. Of course, who doesn’t cry when a loved one dies? But I feel as if the interactions between her and Harry was just really annoying. I felt as if Cho and Harry could have actually been in a relationship, but I also felt as if Cho was a bit too jealous and kept telling people about Cedric. I think Harry didn’t want to talk about Cedric, because he feels a bit haunted about it. And then with Cho pestering him about Cedric and how he died, Harry just seemed very hurt. Personally, I think Cho was a bit selfish. Just a bit. She isn’t the only one affected by Cedric’s death, some people feel hurt too and refuse to talk about it for a while. It wasn’t the crying that was annoying, it was really the pestering.

Cho was just a teenager when Cedric died and had a lot to cope with at that time. On top of that she had feelings for Harry and like Hermione said she was feeling sad about Cedric therefore confused about liking Harry and guilty about kissing him. Cho just wanted someone to talk to and thought that Harry would understand but that didnt go well. This made her feel even worse and her and Harry's relationship didnt end well. Honestly Cho had a lot going on in her life and it was all too much for her especially at such a young age.

I just wish after the events of Order of the Phoenix, that Cho would get a redemption (both in books and films) because we got no apology between her and Harry. I think a good redemption would of been her to duel Peter Pettigrew in Malfoy Manor to fully avenge Cedric as Peter was the one who killed him. Also, it would of got rid of Cho's jealousy of Hermoine if she witnessed what Bellatrix did to Hermoine.

Cho was absolutely not using Harry. She did genuinely have a crush on him, and Cho felt like dating Harry would cheer her up in the end. Unfortunately, Harry has a different way of dealing with PTSD than Cho, and that's partly why they didn't work out.
And I think Cho redeeming herself and ending on good terms with Harry would've been beautiful. Why does Snape have to have redemption instead... 😑

The films did Cho a great disservice, I'm not keen on her in the films and while she's still not one of my favourite characters from the books, she does have more personality there and represents someone who is clearly going through trauma.
I know when my nan died (someone I was very close to all my life), I was heartbroken and cried a lot on and off over the course of two years, I was also quite sensitive at times and just plain miserable.
It just goes to show that when you love someone very much, the hurting doesn't stop when they die, everyone deals with it in different ways.

Indeed. You never know how you will respond to grief. I know it isn't nearly on the same level, but it took me about a year and a half to be able to mention my cat without welling up. It was in no small part because there was a lot of time when it was just the two of us after my wife left on days I didn't have my daughter. We have to understand that people have to go through their process.

I think Cho should have spent more time grieving Cedric before getting involved in another relationship. She may have felt a connection with Harry because he was the one who saw Cedric die. And she totally misunderstod the relationship between Harry and Hermione not seeing it was just a strong friendship with nothing romantic.
Cho is Scottish but of Asian descent, just like how a person can be American but of European descent.
Cho Chang was in love with Cedric Diggory. Obviously when he died, she was heartbroken. All her dreams of living with him was shattered. She certainly needed support. She wanted to talk about her feelings. That was when she began dating Harry.
Sadly, at the time, Harry was dealing with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder because of Cedric's death, false accusations, etc. Harry's way of coping was to talk to his best friends ONLY, and those best friends were Ron and Hermione so he would obviously tell Hermione rather than Cho.
Harry and Cho didnt work out simply given the tough circumstances and their opposite ways of dealing with things.

I have a lot of sympathy for Cho. I don't believe the books ever mentioned how long she and Cedric had been together, or how serious they were. But it's been a few years since I read the books so I'm not sure. For all we know they'd been together since first year, discussed marriage and a family when they graduate. Losing someone you love and have envisaged a future with is unbelievably hard, I wouldn't be surprised if she had clinical depression at this point, and being at a boarding school may not have had access to therapy or medications. That colours your entire life and makes it hard to think rationally.
Cho was with Cedric for 6 months before he died.
It was only around 6 months. Although as Hermione said, she was probably extremely conflicted about liking harry. I think her real problem was the fact that she didn't seem to get to talk it out like harry did. When she wanted to, she was already all emotional, and you know how that works.
I honestly don’t know why people hate Cho. Some people say that it’s because Cho exposed Dumbledore’s Army. But she couldn’t help it. Umbridge used Verataserum on her. Im pretty sure she wouldn’t have revealed them if the serum wasn’t used and she still wouldn’t have revealed them even if she was tortured.

To everyone who hates cho for crying: it isn’t easy to loose someone you care about. Grief isn’t something you just get over. It takes time to mourn and grieve and cry . Being in hog warts wasn’t the same after his death , especially at hogwarts because that was where they spent time together and have all of their memories.
I love that you go by the books and not the movies! It's more accurate than the movies.
This is in my eyes the point of that channel > Explaining to peoples that can't/don't want to read the book what really happens, and put things on together to whoever might've forgotten them after reading 7 whole books.

Kejsi Hoxha Cho cried more out of frustration than anything, which is quoted in the book. Cho had been doing badly all year at Quidditch due to her grief and she had also just broken up with Harry. Her year was tumultuous, so when she was once again defeated, yes she cried in anger, because sometimes, when everything just seems to be going wrong, you just feel like crying. And she did, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Fact is, Cho crying is not something she does at the drop of a hat. If she was always this emotional over matches, Harry would have seen her cry many times when she loses, like when she lost against him. But she didn't. It's clear her tears were based off more than just a game.
As for her going on a date to discuss another boy, dont forget that Harry brought up a girl first (Hermione).
Yeah, WE know Harry only feels friendship for Hermione, but how would Cho know this, when Harry never tells her anything to assure her? I mean, even when she jealously asked him how many other girls hes planning to meet, Harry laughs. (Yeah, we know why, but Cho doesn't). Not once did Harry ever explain himself.
Not to mention, just last year, Cho had gotten a bunch of articles filled with stuff about Hermione playing with Harry's heart, we had Viktor Krum wondering if the two had something, and even Molly Weasley was fooled. Most importantly, Ron himself expressed suspicion at one point to where Harry to assure him too that Hermione was just his friend.
So yeah, when Harry mentioned Hermione, meeting her in the middle of their date, Cho got jealous and brought up other boys, partly to make Harry jealous to try and uncover how much he cares (by mentioning Roger Davies), and partly because she needed to discuss a topic so important to her (Cedric's murder). Cho never felt she got closure, and she didn't have anyone to talk to who understood like Harry would. She genuinely liked Harry, but she wasn't ready to move on and she tried to force herself. Which wasn't good.
But shes just human, she was only 16 going through something so awful.

Cho was being childish? Perhaps. But she's a teenager, teenagers can be childish. You're really going to judge her, when Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, etc have all had many immature, childish moments? Maybe you dont like them either, but if you do, then you have to admit, her having any moment of childishness is hardly condemnable.
Cho didn't mention Cedric until Harry mentions Hermione. And again, it's pretty unfair to expect Cho to have an innate understanding of Harry and Hermione's friendship, when we have people like Molly Weasley and RON of all people, both who questioned whether there was more to Harry and Hermione than just friendship.
You can't expect Cho to be in the know, but then ignore that folks who've known Harry and Hermione far longer, wondered the same thing.
And when you add on the fact that Harry actually tells Ron and Molly that their is nothing between him and Hermione, but he NEVER tells Cho?
How can you ignore the blatant fail that was Harry not giving Cho necessary assurance? Even Hermione got on him for it.
As for Cho getting upset at Hermione, it was a mix between jealousy at Hermione because she still thinks Harry likes her, (because again he never makes that clear), and loyalty toward the one friend who stood by her after everything.

Gryffindors ,Hufflepuffs and Slytherins have also endured plenty of anguish : lost parents,Sirius getting framed and locked in Azkaban for 12 years,lost his life nearly 3 years later,Amos Diggory was a Hufflepuff who lost his only child,the Weasleys lost Fred,Snape had one of the worst lives ever and he was a textbook Slytherin, in some respects

Cho got such horrible treatment as a character by Rowling (speaking from a writer's POV). Her character and personality from the start of the series was diminished (to the point of being canceled out) and she was turned into nothing more than a plot device to force the idea of Ginny on us (I suspect as wish fulfillment for Harry marrying into the Weasleys - like the oddball Hermione/Ron union). If Rowling wanted, it would have been entirely possible to write Cho in a way that made her human and respectable, while still pointing out why she and Harry weren't compatible as a couple - at least they could have been friends. Heck, she could have even competed with Ginny on a realistic level, not just turned into some stupid caricature. Instead, Rowling took the easy way out and spent OotP throwing Cho in the worst light possible and contriving every interaction she and Harry had to make it look like they were emotionally volatile around each other, creating a perfect foil for Ginny - who wasn't exactly what you would call honorable. It was some of the worst storytelling of the entire series.

I do agree with Harry, when he says, " Why does she keep dredging up a subject that makes her act like a human hosepipe?", but it is rude and therefore an insult to Cedric's memory to take iconic HP moments then add: Cho: *starts crying*. It makes me feel sick inside, and also, haven't your parents taught you better? The death of an amazing character's amazing boyfriend is nothing to poke fun at. You all are very rude to Cho, and I think this needs to stop.

Going through the trauma of losing a boyfriend at such a young age is NOT something that should be laughed at. Cho is one of the most realistic characters in the series but also one of the worst written characters as JK Rowling threw her under the bus as soon as the Valentine's Date came.
Also because both her parents and friends did not support her during her time of need after Cedric died, it's completely realistic to be really emotional.

I really liked Cho and it is reasonable for her to start crying out of grief for Cedric. Of course, who doesn’t cry when a loved one dies? But I feel as if the interactions between her and Harry was just really annoying. I felt as if Cho and Harry could have actually been in a relationship, but I also felt as if Cho was a bit too jealous and kept telling people about Cedric. I think Harry didn’t want to talk about Cedric, because he feels a bit haunted about it. And then with Cho pestering him about Cedric and how he died, Harry just seemed very hurt. Personally, I think Cho was a bit selfish. Just a bit. She isn’t the only one affected by Cedric’s death, some people feel hurt too and refuse to talk about it for a while. It wasn’t the crying that was annoying, it was really the pestering.

Cho was just a teenager when Cedric died and had a lot to cope with at that time. On top of that she had feelings for Harry and like Hermione said she was feeling sad about Cedric therefore confused about liking Harry and guilty about kissing him. Cho just wanted someone to talk to and thought that Harry would understand but that didnt go well. This made her feel even worse and her and Harry's relationship didnt end well. Honestly Cho had a lot going on in her life and it was all too much for her especially at such a young age.
