Ronaldo's career is very high to rate because of his injuries. Still, in spite of all that it was an amazing career and he was great from day one in any team he played in and he easily adapted to any league and strategy. Obviously, due to lack of longevity we cannot compare him with guys who lasted on the highest level for 10-15 years, but he also wasn't someone who just faded away after 2 good seasons. Even when his physical abilities were severely limited due to injuries, he was still a top 5 striker in the world, behind only maybe Van Nistelrooy, Henry and Shevchenko who were in their primes at that time. If we are just judging pure ability, no such player ever played football. Ronaldo's combination of speed, physical strength, ambidexterity, intelligence, vision, clinical finishing with both feet after a 50 meter sprint during which he was fending off players, the ability to make very hard tricks look like natural movement and perform them effortlessly even under big pressure is something we have never seen before or after him. He was a hurricane, a one man wrecking machine who was able to constantly destroy world's best defences on his own in the strongest league in the world in the possibly strongest era ever in terms of competition. Stuff he did was absolutely out of this world and to this day it still has that "WOW" factor. In terms of pure skill, he is probably the best that ever played the game, but I would still rate Pele, Maradona, Beckenbauer, Cruyff, Di Stefano and Messi higher than him on the all-time list. That being said, he will always be my favorite player.
