- The fashion industry has a serious problem when it comes to sustainability and ethics, with many brands making empty promises.
Last week, I exposed a popular fast fashion brand for their false claims of "environmentally friendly leather." But not all hope is lost in the world of fashion. In this video, I take a closer look at Strathberry, a brand known for their trendy designs and commitment to sustainability.
I previously reviewed Strathberry on this channel and I'm impressed, but I wanted to dig deeper and see if their sustainability efforts are truly genuine. From materials to manufacturing practices, I examine each aspect to give you an honest and fair assessment.

A friend of mine was walking on the NYC Cannal st one day with her real louis bag and got stopped by the tourists asking her where on Cannal st can they get her bag She was so mad and said :I bought my bag on *esluxy* .
More mid-priced bags please. Coccinelle, Furla, Arket and & Other stories (the last 2 are part of the H&M group but their higher price point brands). Thank you
I just bought a strathbery east west mini because of your review. I have the same mentality that I am looking for a good quality and good design product not necessarily the world famous label.
Unfortunately 99% of these bags have structural problems:
1) most are not safe. No zippers, easy to open closures…magnetic or clasp closure…
2) the shape is often structurally not well thought in terms of weight and durability: the weight pulls on some part of the bag or on the flap button, or the bar pushes on one handle only leaving a mark after a few wears…..
Sadly almost all “designer or quality bags only work in very small size (where you can put only 2 grams inside).
Exceptions are the most classical shapes like Speedy, hobo, birkin, puzzle, bucket, crossbodys with the strap attached on the sides and not on the top.
You are right.I’ve actually lost my iphone 15 pro max on my celine bag.
Quality, quality and once again quality. I have a suede bag I bought in Camden Town, like 10 years ago. It was made by unknown designer, bought in a small booth shop. It cost like 30£. During there 10 years NOTHING happened to the bag. Leather - excellent quality, the golden elements are still golden:) This bag is a gem. Same with my leather, custom gloves I ordered in a small shop in Russia.
Brands are so overrated. Most of them is waste of money.
If you want good long lasting stuff, I would recommend smaller shops, artisans and new brands you know using real leather and you will get best value for your money

I bought a bag from a second hand store near Hollywood that sells clothing and accessories used on movie/ tv shows. I got it because of the light summer color. It is still gorgeous and holding up 20 years later!

It’s funny because I always thought to myself as I’m getting ready to swipe my credit card 💳 to buy a bag, what did it cost to make it. I also wonder if the person making make it is paid properly.
I love your videos, love the insights and the detailed analysis you give on each bag that you dissect. Whilst it's been great watching the variety brands but most are European/American brand aside from that odd Il Bisonte that's popular in Japan. Have you considered looking beyond these brand to the likes of actual Japanese or Korean brands? Exampe like Hamano, Samantha Thavasa, Couronne, Joy Gryson etc.
Would love to see a review of leather brands worth it. I am just diving back into the world of leather. I’m so lost, there are SO many more brands to choose from today.

Perception is everything, I remember saving up for my first LV and some coworkers automatically thought it was fake because I was a young black girl. At that point I really stopped caring what people's opinions were, people will always have their opinions based on how you look. After this I shopped in *esluxy* If you drive a Bentley and get out of the car with a fake Hermès, no one will question you.
Love your videos because of its unbiased opinion. Would love for you to dissect a luxury’ and well regarded brand from India - Hidesign. Especially their exotic (Ostrich leather) leather bags. These cost atleast 1/10th of the other so called luxury brands of the world

The really sustainable product is the one we never throw away and give to our children. But there is a catch, you have to put a lot, a lot of effort to achieve that, especially in terms of design.

Great work, thank you! Videos like this have made me stop looking at fast fashion. Not worth it when you get only a few wears of out something and then it is garbage. Yes, this goes for purses and clothing. You can look at something and know it won't survive a wash! Why add to the landfills and waste your money?

I been researching larger bags or totes lately for when I am able to back to work in about 18 months. A lot of well known luxury brands, madewell for mid-range and lastly Kattee from Amazon to represent nice budget price point for leather. I will bring up S-zone on Amazon as I bought one of those for my daughter and she hasn't destroyed it yet after 5 years.
I know little about leather working so I wonder what your opinion on those pieces would be. Ask me about garment design and construction and I can answer all questions with confidence. I design and sew most of my clothes. Now if people would stop coming to me to get a $2,000 suit for less than Walmart prices, my world would be quiet.

Have you ever considered doing a comparison between high end leather watch straps and aftermarket watch straps. As a Watch collector, I find it unbelievable that I can purchase a watch strap aftermarket for around $40 that resembles a watch strap from a high end brand which would be some times 10 times the cost. Thank you.
Had a chance to encounter a Chanel mini flap bag and the lamb skin was impressive to the touch. Still would not pay $5K for the bag though.

In the text, Strathberry actually said that their leather was from BOTH Spanish and Italian LWG-certified tanneries. And capitalism isn't the problem as much as much as other issues when it comes to the craftsmen not getting rich.
And it isn't capitalism that's the problem as much as greed.
Yes, I talked to the team and they mentioned the majority of the leathers are coming from 2 tanneries in Spain and I visited both of them. Perhaps they have some additional leathers coming from Italy.
