I’ve noticed that whenever I think “I don’t have time” for something, I need to reframe it as “It’s not a priority” for me and sometimes that changes my mind about it 🙂

The physical exfoliant that I use is rice powder from a grocery store… the finer the better. I mix with a liquid cleanser and is sooooo nice. (Got idea from Tacha and I use their packaging to hold my grocery store purchased pure rice powder.)

The number one thing that saved my skin was to STOP the obsession with trying products and searching for the next product that was finally going to be my HG.
I found an acid step that really, really worked for me and I stuck with that and used it consistently and it’s still the star of my routine. I stuck with two creams, one lighter and one thicker to interchange as needed. I cut back from an insane nine step routine and now my only products are a gentle cleanser, the two creams, the acid peels, sunscreen, and one tried and true serum.
I feel like more often than not, less is more.

I have a little bin I picked up at the dollar store. I wrote on it, “Skin Rescue.” I also added a list what the desperation skin concerns could be (peeling, burning, itching, etc). I then filled it with all of my rescue heros. Then on the other side I listed the order of use. It sits in the fridge so that I can grab it as needed. I don’t have to remember anything. It is just like a first aid kit for skin. My teens use it also.

Yes, a morning and night routine, even if it's 3 minutes, goes into our self-love bin. This is an act of love toward yourself, and I only learned this in my 60s, this has had an amazing effect that most people comment on, it's like caring for yourself creates an atmosphere that people respond to. I use different things than Hannah, but I love her view on skincare and makeup. I find her channel educational and so calming.

Hi Hannah. Pacifica is a beauty co. that has reusable silicone face masks. You can layer them over your own skincare products just like a throwaway mask. You can also put them into the fridge for a cooling effect , esp the under eye mask. And yes, they are easy to clean. Less waste, just as effective. It's possible that Lisa Eldridge had recommended these in a fairly recent vid on what she took on a holiday.

As a college student who’s skin is going through “second puberty” I’ve found that simplifying my skin care as much as possible was the best thing. I always thought I needed all these very moisturizing and high end products for my eczema and acne but now I’ve got my skincare down to the simplest it can be. Curology moisturizer, face wash, and formula which I only use every other day. I use the acne patches and eye cream as needed. Literally nothing else. I also use hormonal birth control lol.

This year has been about actually dedicating the time twice a day to do my skincare, I have very little time with a young disabled son and disabled husband but making that little time each day has done wonders for me. Tretinoin and Vitamin C are the stars in my line up and I’m happy to say that the Tretinoin hasn’t made me drier at all it’s actually balanced my skin out more!

Ultra repair cream is a must-have staple in our household! My husband gets verrrrrrry dry patches on his face & it's the only thing that heals without clogging his skin and making it angrier, and it's my holy grail for body moisturizing & healing dry/chapped/sunburned face. That + aquaphor is the only thing that works for my allergy-induced dishydrotic eczema. Plus it feels like silky, homemade whipped cream. Just an all-around hero product.

As someone whose skin is flaking massively from tretinoin but also breaking out horribly from going off birth control for the first time in ten years, I watched this video while swinging wildly between “I want to do ALL of this,” and “I want to forget I have a face at all.”
The Heartstopper bit had me laughing until my eyes teared up.
BTW, every time I see your lamp in the background (which I LOVE) it makes me want to ask if you know about the fragrance brand Floraïku. The shape of the bottles is similar to the shape of your lamp turned upside down, and a couple of the bottles have flying birds on them like your lamp. And I feel like you would be very into their whole vibe.
Their fragrances have names like My Love Has The Color Of The Night, One Umbrella For Two, Sleeping On The Roof, and Sound Of A Ricochet. Isn’t that just magical? (I’ll warn you in advance, though, they’re hella expensive. Sorry.)

Thank you for this! It rescued *my* skin! I had been dealing with long term flakiness despite using very emollient products and occlusives and cutting back all my actives. It turns out that remembering the "7 skin" method was a real gamechanger for me, too. I don't know why I stopped doing it, but within a couple days of re-starting ( after this video; using my usual products, and only 2-3 layers) there was a serious improvement in my skin. I could use tint and foundation again without it looking terrible on my chin. Also! Thank you for giving me the push to grab the FAB cream. It had been rec'd to me before, and I'd loved the sample I tried but I just never bit the bullet and bought the cream. I managed to get it for a really great price, and it's been seriously amazing. I had lizard nose-lip area from getting covid and this cream helped my tight, sore skin in days.

this isn't a prescription, just biochemistry info:
women go through 3 major hormonal changes in life. the middle one starts around mid to late 30s, and primarily, that's what causes adult acne in women. one of the reasons this isn't well known is cz hormonal birth control compensates for this, as it keeps your reproductive hormone levels consistent.
if you're not on birth control (I'm not and due to depression, I will never be), there's spironolactone, a testosterone antagonist, that helps prevent adult acne in women. men cannot take it cz it counteracts their testosterone.
since it's a prescription I don't feel bad recommending it cz you need to see a Dr anyway. if you don't have skin textures and discolouration and only suffer from acne try spironolactone. retinozation is a harsh process and that's why it's grueling on the skin. you're essentially telling your skin cells to die when it's not their time and telling the not yet skin cells to become skin cells asap.

Depending on the underlying issue, something (or two) in that kit will do the trick. (And all but the Power D are pretty affordable. Zelens, otoh, is absolutely not. I also use their benzoyl peroxide gel for maintenance. If you have really dry skin I think mixing their urea cream with a couple of drops of your favorite oil (mine is squalane by the ordinary) would be really good for you! Since I use it (a year now) I no longer feel like I need to focus a lot on exfoliation, because the urea exfoliates while hydrating. Its amazing! A good way to get the benefits of sheet masking without having to keep buying masks is a reusable mask. I got one for $1 on Shop Miss A. It's a stretchy, rubber like mask that I put on after I pack a bunch of essence and hydrating thin serums on my face. I mean I pack them in til my face is basically soaking wet lol but it has the same basic effect as sheet masks. I was trying to find a way to quit buying them without giving up how plump and hydrating they make my skin feel.

I love using essence. I use 2-3 everyday lol. I use slimy ones at night because I don't want pilling obviously.

Perfect timing. I got lazy and my very dry skin looks terrible. Thank you for the tips and recommendations. I also like to use the Cerave Healing Ointment at night.

Well clearly, those concoctions worked! Your skin looks wonderful. I’m guilty of not making the time. Think I’ll go mask and whiten my teeth while I’m at it. 😉

I really like the soothing/hydrating FAB toner. It is super lovely for my eczema prone skin. Ive tried multiple toners before it but this one and cosrx cica toner are the only ones i want to rebuy. Colloidal oatmeal and no fragrance.

I deal with scaly face ALL the time because I'm down here in humid, hot ass texas where the air conditioners are on full force so my dehydrated, easily sensitized and acne prone skin doesn't know what to do. I liken it to like... a glazed donut that's been sitting in the paper box on the counter for two days, all dried out and flaking. I feel like it's time for me to try the black sugar scrub, because everything I have is otherwise great for hydrating and moisturizing so I know I don't need any more of that kind of stuff, and I FOR SURE dedicate the time to my skin. But truly it's SOS all hands on deck, and I may need that extra pair of hands in the form of the physical exfoliant.
also, the SNOW SCENE omg I think I watched 90% of that show with this face:

Did you do a video on your experience with curology/tretinoin and I’ve missed it? I’ve just joined the “Hannah” fan club a few months ago, so I’m still working my way through SAVORING your videos. I adore you and hearing about your experiences and I’d love to hear about tret from your point of view! I’m 29 and I feel like I’m missing the anti-aging boat! How long did it take you to see results? How bad was the purging? Etc!

As someone with a chronic illness, it's hard to keep a consistent skincare routine.. this week, I went 3 days without washing my face because I didn't have the energy and just making it to the bathroom was a mission. When I do have the energy, my skincare routine is a priority because acne prone with combo skin so I get dry patches and spots.. it's one of my favourite things to do because it feels like I'm taking care of myself instead of wasting away 🙃

As a fellow sufferer, I've found that a clean wash cloth is my bff. Dry it'll lightly exfoliate and absorb oil, damp it'll do the same and wipe away debris (or eye crust or whatever). That and a generous lip balm by the bed are my 'minimum standards' when my pain is really bad.
