team spot-conceal-no-foundation!!! i spent years watching youtube and shopping to find a "holy grail" foundation before realizing i just don't like a full face of foundation and that's ok!
I really appreciate this “take” on makeup. Can you address in a video how you “get over” wearing your good things? I find myself “saving them for the proper time” or fearing ruing them, especially with clothes.
Same! I feel like I have this problem at the beginning of owning it! But if this helps for things I love that are expensive I try to remember the more I use it the more value I’ll get out of it. Take a $50 palette if you wear it twice each use cost you $25 dollars but wearing and enjoying it more often is the most cost effective thing to do! That’s my advice but do what works for you!
If you don’t use them then you won’t be treating them right! What’s the point of owning then ;) part of everyday joy is seeing every day as worthy of special occasion. I also find luxury bloggers helpful in that regard because treats are so normalized. If you can proceed w caution that can be helpful!!
I am the same. That video would be awesome to see. Also, I would recommend you Naja Sierra's videos for example the one about the cost per wear. Other tips from a person who struggles with this issue: 1. fancy Friday :) 2. Do a wear rotation (wear every item you have). This one is great because after one wear you will not damage your clothing piece (that's my biggest fear), you will give them a test ride and see what are the good and bad characteristics of this piece, you will take away the newness (for me newness is the big reason to not wear a clothing piece) and the bonus out of this point is after a wear rotation you will get rid of the pieces that are not right for you. 3. Do an inventory. I love this one. It will help you see what you have. Maybe you will realize that some of your favorite pieces were not used for an obscene amount of time. Maybe you will want to get rid of pieces that are not the best for you and that will make you wear your favorites. An inventory also is a great tool to make better purchases or motivation for a low/no buy. And most of all it will make you appreciate what you have. 4. The hardest one: change your mindset. Try wearing your clothes for you and not for the others.
I have been trying do this exact thing lately, its helpful to get some more tips n tricks. Interestingly though, I struggle with what looks good in person vs. on camera. School and work are done through zoom and my typical natural less is more makeup doesn't show up as much of anything on camera- I would love a video for tips around on camera makeup💜
I’m here for this natural look! 😍 And for Saddie-Sadie, cats have definitely not only their own characters but also moods. Also enjoyed Hannah doing maths on her lip parts 🤣
So valuable and different from anything I am seeing on RUclips. Thank you for this! I always feel like a slice of coconut cloud cake walking around lol
Re: milky face serums, the colourpop face milks are so nice! I was really skeptical about trying their skincare but I got their oat face milk (which is fragrance free) and I can’t stop using it.
Sending you love babe. Stress is so rough on my skin too, and it seems like just adding to an already overful pile of crap to carry around. Hang in there. ❤❤❤
Ahhh I adore you for this video. A small part of me already knew that this approach would be a better fit for my makeup routine, but I’ve always felt the compulsive need to put a full face of base product on. I tried the spot-conceal no foundation routine today for work and I’m absolutely in love with the results! also enjoyed the added bonus of not having to worry about my cream blush breaking up any skin tint underneath
During my total minimum years in Indonesia..a concealer..was the only complexion product I used..also the only product that wouldn't slide right off..especially during the day..usually around eyes to balance colour...at night usually around the eyes for brightness and through the centre..I love a good multifunctional concealer ..full makeup and 90% humidity..just doesn't work...especially during the day..thank you for sharing some of your little secrets...I was think just the other day..your skin looked like porcelain ...Hannah ...I is amazing the different makeup and skin care needs we have depending on our life circumstances ..from absolute bare minimum and sweat...to full face with all the steps ..it's all a majickal journey ...Love and light Shenn 💐💐💐
I love the light coverage look you do. This glossy look feels like too much for me personally, but I wonder if I would feel the same without the studio lights shining on the look. It works for you, and you work it. It's just a lot for my personal taste, at least under these light.
Poor Sad-ie! My Diesel has been acting weird too. 2 days of crawling on me any time any position? Normally only on the bed, now it’s whenever. It’s so cute (she’s not acting sick. Just.. extra cuddly)
Loved the video, Hannah! It was very helpful. I’ve also decided to join you on the seasonal spend! So, here’s to saving (both money and ideas) for the spring!
This was fun to watch! You've got it down and are really good at explaining the hows and whys -- so much so I'm *almost* ready to try it myself. The "glowing" ("glowy" gives me grammar/usage twitches) skin trend has taken a lot of getting used to, for me, as a person who learned makeup in the mid-'80s to early '90s. Back then, this trend would have been declared "greasy" and promptly powdered back into submission. I'm used to putting shiny things on top of matte things, not the other way around!
I love this technique & look! I know you’ve been holding off on replacing your green color corrector. Are you rethinking whether you actually need it, since you can get this beautiful look without it? I have rosacea and find it very difficult to get green and red to cancel each other out, so even with careful/light application there can be a tinge of green that looks unnatural and I stopped using green color correctors. I’m curious about your thoughts on this.
When I’m covering a blemish I avoid cream products all together because I can’t get them to stay on the texture. Instead I do my normal routine and then use a powder foundation on a tiny brush to conceal the spot, and lightly feather out to blend into the rest of my face. This is the only way I’ve managed to keep coverage on the blemish and not accentuate the dry patches on the edges so everything seems seamless. Which is weird because the powder it dry. I don’t claim to understand it, it’s just what works for me
I’ve kind of “given up” using liquid foundation recently and just adding some concealer and poster where needed, similar to what you show here. I feel like not only does my skin look better but um literally using less product which means it’s reducing my consumption of beauty products as well
2021 has really brought some unexpected surprises because I've been breaking out more than I have been in years!! So this is really timely. I've also been enjoying spot-concealing, but when I have less time, I like using a medium-coverage BB cream all over. It still allows for different tones of the skin to peek through (including acne) while softening the overall effect.
I've found that a really serumy blush like the one from em cosmetics really amps up this technique. At first I wasn't convinced that they were anything special, but every time I wear one and take a picture, they have a unique look I don't get from my other blushes. A very glass skin kind of appearance. I'm going to have to compare and see if my flower beauty blush bombs have the same effect, because they have the most similar product consistency.
Im a full coverage girl. It’s just what I like best on me. I personally love the way people look with the super, all-over, glowy skin, but on me, I prefer glowy cheekbones and temples only. Oh and the tip of the nose.
I don't like foundation either. Most of the time I spot conceal. I have the fenty foundation. When I do use it I always thin it out with future dew, a liquid highlight, and a dop of oil. Ends up being more like a tinted moisturizer.
Very nice Hannah! I can't believe it's been however long since I started watching your channel! I remember you were about to start your no buy, or you decided that shortly after I found you. This video is so.. "real life" helpful because I'm super fair, very similar skin and I am going for the same look with my base 😃 the zeesea blush you have is discontinued im so sad about that. Im eyeing another cheek tint i forget the exact name but i remember its called juicy pang? And the component looks similar to nail polish. Those look like they may be good!
Lately there are a lot of sheer foundations, or moisturizing glowy bases. It could be worth as an avenue. I used to use concealer and buff it but lately i find i use a sheer foundation in strategic placea and it helps with the texture
This was incredibly helpful, thank you Hannah!! My face is much darker than my neck and I prefer when they match--trying some of these tricks might help!
Hi Hannah!! Just wanted to let you know I bought those awesome sheet masks from Amazon and I absolutely LOVE them!! The goo stays on my skin long after I take the sheet off and really moisturizes the sh&* out of it!! Love your channel and thank you again for sharing!!
This is very different from how you used to your makeup. I like that you push yourself to learn new techniques, etc. I'm going to try using a glow cream as a primer. Amen to "powder is powder" I've had the same bottle of RCMA no color powder for 5 years. You don't need to have so many powders and many of them are so overpriced.
For the last year I've been using nars soft matte to spot conceal with a tiny brush, use another tiny brush to blend out over my individual scars on my chin and mouth area and then sweeping the area with a light layer of bareminerals original foundation to set the concealer. The rest of my face I dont conceal anything and use bronzer, blush and highlighter as normal. So we sort of do it similarly but I use less concealer than you as I hate how oily I get with that! Thanks for the interesting video 😊
I followed this technique today with the products I have, Auric, Erin’s Face concealer in 2 shades (1 light and 1 medium), and etc. I have already had 2 compliments from co-workers, and that is with a mask on. What have you done different today? Thank you Hannah for providing us with new ways to do our makeup. 😺😽
would love love you to review SAIE! Their tinted moisturizer seems like it would be a great addition to this look? its very dewy/glowy and light coverage apparently -- I just ordered it! I'd love to hear your thoughts on merit's cream blush too! maybe a "new at sephora" style video? :)
Do you ever just get mad or frustrated at your acne? With the time and money spent on such a thorough skin regimen, I would feel like I deserved to have skin I didn’t have to fiddle with. Do you ever get frustrated and wonder if the skin lotions and portions are worth it? It seems that having acne prone skin is a battle Do you feel like your acne would be worse if you didn’t have the regimen you do? Please do not interpret this as any dig on your skincare routine, etc. I support you wholeheartedly. Just wondering how you emotionally react to your breakouts... or if you do at all for that matter.
Omg, you got a nuface!!!!! You’re in my cult now. I can’t wait to hear all about it. I’ve missed a few videos so maybe you already talked about this, but did you buy it with your budget or did you get it in pr? I totally want to see you do your nuface routine 😍 Also, medvat gel on amazon is so much cheaper and nicer than the nuface gel.
She got it in PR :). I believe she's going to do a full video on the NuFace once enough time has passed. I want one, ngl! Thanks for the tip about the gel on amazon!
@@christine5669 thanks for filling me in! I love it so much! I have the mini, which is more affordable, and there isn’t any difference in terms of efficacy between the mini and the trinity. Plus, there are weird times when they go on super sale.

team spot-conceal-no-foundation!!! i spent years watching youtube and shopping to find a "holy grail" foundation before realizing i just don't like a full face of foundation and that's ok!
Agreed 💯 Most people don't need full coverage on their entire faces.

Same!! I hate a whole face of foundation one me always just spot foundation/conceal, i wish it was more popular!
Yes! This!! Realised, after years of dissatisfaction, that sheer foundation around the centre of my face only and concealer under eyes is it for me.
Would looove to see another "whats cheering me up right now" some time soon!!
Me too!! I love those videos!

What brush do you use to blend out the cream blush?
Does anyone remember the little soap she uses for her brown. I’ve just finished all my brow products and I was considering giving it a try
It's an Ortigia soap, but any glycerin soap will the same effect.
