I would love to see this become a series! How HLP gets ready for *blank* Maybe incorporate some fashion, too? The pandemic has starved us of occasions for which to get ready! Edit: it's funny how different makeup can look on different people! I'm very pale, with lots of natural redness, and Eros pulls very warm on me.
i have a suggestion: what about unrealistic scenarios? i did really enjoy this video, and i do really like the other suggestions in the comments, but i feel like scenarios that are less realistic and more whimsical could also be fun to explore! stuff like what you'd wear if you were a vampire about to dine on your hapless unsuspecting dinner guest, or about to go on a date with an alien, or were doing an editorial fashion shoot for a wizard magazine or something.
You're brilliant! I love this idea! A look to search for fairies in an enchanted forest, as a witch luring children into your candy cottage...endless possibilities!
Omg this would be SO FUN, she could even do a little hannahween series of these!! "What I would wear to a brunch picnic if I were a fairy 🧚♀️" ugh I'm obsessed w this idea!!!
I’d love to see a look for an exhibition opening at an art gallery - bonus if you choose an artist and get inspiration from the style of their work! This is such a great series idea!
I’d love to see a look on how you’d go back into academia as an adult. I’ve been struggeling with this alot, and all «back to school» are aimed at a much younger demographic than I (I’m in my mid 30’s)
This is such a wonderful video idea - can’t wait to see this maybe become a series ☺️ I’d love to see what you wore when you were a grad student/ poetry teacher!!
Perhaps your version of an everyday signature makeup look for a high powered businessperson in a creative industry? ✨What's doable on a regular basis but makes a quiet statement?
I love the way you do your makeup. Organic is such a good word for it! It always looks so so pretty and it's a great happy medium of natural and glamorous where a lot of creaters miss the mark. I commonly come across "natural no make up make up" that feels boring to me at times, or completely full glam that I would hardly feel comfortable wearing in most situations. I always come to your channel when looking for makeup inspo and it's never failed me!!
You are an absolute goddess and I just love how thorough and thoughtful you were as you walked through this "simulation" makeup for an elegant dinner. So few creators actually take the time to slow down and allow us to enjoy that whole process with them. I would also love to see a similar style video for all the occasions you listed! Would make for a great series.
What a fabulous video concept! This is the type of video I've always wanted but never knew how to ask for. Growing up without many female influences, I pondered how to look the part for so many things, from first dates to job interviews to vacations. This ranged from makeup to outfits! As an adult, I've figured out my own tastes and (think) I know the gist of what suits what occasion, but it's so fun to see how other people approach an occasion.
this is super interesting to me, I've actually recently come to the conclusion that I don't dress/do my makeup based on occasion but rather based on my mood.
This was exactly the video I needed even though I didn’t know it. I’d love to see what you’d wear if you were going to be outside in the daylight with friends to a park picnic or outdoor flea market. I feel like daylight outdoor is the hardest for me to figure out, so I frequently default to no makeup at all but then I feel like someone out for a jog. Blah!
Ooh, would love to see your take on academic make up. I teach in a university in England, and my observation would be that there are 2 ‘acceptable’ make up looks. The first is a red lip and and black winged liner. The second is very natural. I never see any hint of glitter, and assume I would never be taken seriously again if I arrived in such. Though since the pandemic nobody would notice - zoom hides a lot. I have toyed with the idea of a roen one and done look, but think would be too much. Maybe it’s different in America?
I teach at university in the US in STEM, and I do think it’s different! I can wear any makeup look that I want (including glitter) and I don’t think anyone has taken me less seriously.
Wow, that’s so interesting! Can not compute. I’m trying to think more clearly what I mean by ‘taken less seriously’ - but honestly glitter would be so far outside the organisational culture I am struggling to imagine how anyone would react. Obviously nobody would actually say anything, but eyes would be boggling!
I love this. I was thinking the other day that you would probably do an amazing job of doing a video on “choosing the vibes”. Not just with makeup but also clothing. I’d love to see you talk through how different textures, structures, shapes and colours (in makeup, clothing and accessories) help us give off different impressions, tell a story or create a mood.
I love this idea! I especially appreciated the commentary on intimidating non-makeup wearers. I feel like that's a thing that I think about a lot, usually when meeting new people, and I've never heard anyone talk about it. The other femmes at work used to talk about how my makeup made them feel bad for not "doing more," and that always made me so sad. They always looked great to me.
Wonderful video concept and delightful execution! Dinner makeup really is the best: glamorous, social, and intimate. I love my Print Fresh pajamas! If I were to buy another pair, I’d chose that stunning artichoke, asparagus print! Beautiful!
This video was wonderful! I looove the idea of "how i do my makeup for" so and so, especially because you used the palette you created on a previous video. Discovered your channel through a yt recomendation earlier this year and I absolutely love what you've been doing, watched every video so far! Lots of love 💗
And just so you know, i would love videos on all the options you listed, academic setting (i'm a teacher myself), hanging out with friends during the day (a lunch look) and even more exciting scenarios for when the pandemic is over, concerts and such.
Who else feels so beautiful in dimly lit rooms with candlelight and wishes that lighting could follow them around everywhere? 😂😂😂 I really love this idea! I appreciate that you're not focusing so much about an exact makeup look, but rather the thought process behind why you'd wear certain makeup for a certain occasion.
Hannah showcasing the lip Liner film yet I can't stop staring at the eyeshadow art! 🤩🤩 I'll definitely recreate it once I receive my JD Glow Unexpected Single 🤩
I LOVE how you break down your decision making. It's all so simple, and all makes sense, and is all really accessible - like, hey, if I stopped to think about it like that for a few minutes, I could get there, too. But at the same time, I am constantly thinking 'hey thats a great point!' or 'that's a tip I've ACTUALLY never heard before' ! You're so great. Thanks :)
I'm loving all these other suggestions for scenarios, this is absolutely how I've been doing my makeup during the pandemic, setting myself arbitrary guidelines or challenges and seeing what I come up with, I'd love to see what you would wear for a debut drag/cabaret performance!
I cannot stop watching your videos. I've been marathoning a ton and had to go as far back as your "what you would've bought and what it would've spent" from a while ago! I enjoy having you on while I'm hanging out. You speak so elegantly, it's such a pleasure to hear whatever you have to say. Okay off to watch your video now ⭐
I love just this simple idea. All the intricate considerations of base, blush etc is fascinating enough. Having said that, I do like to be myself as much as possible when I wear makeup.
You are an absolute gem on this platform! You’re such an elegant soul and you have the most romantic sensibility when it comes to makeup. Gonna get seriously inspired by this, do my makeup and go get a fancy cocktail in one of my favorite dresses!
I really liked this video and would like to see more of these! It felt like a new take on a not-product-focused look. I think first day of school/work would be a fun one. Maybe a look for attending a wedding as a guest? Or for a post-work happy hour touch up?
What to wear to a light gym session or walk outside? As per my above thought, what to wear to a doctors visit (zoom or in person)? What to wear at home when recovering but still wanting to look basically ok? What to wear when meeting for coffee with one friend (who isn’t that into makeup)? What to wear to transition seasons? So many ideas. I hope you keep making this series, whatever scenario you choose 🤞
This video is making me miss going out to dinner so much right now. It's been so long that I feel a sense of nostalgia towards it, even though it used to be such a mundane thing.
Omg, I want this to be a series! Hannah goes to a job interview! Hannah goes to brunch! yesss, please, do one about what makeup to wear on the first day of school as a professor. Because I am a professor, and I want to know! Also, what makeup would you wear to a Quaker meeting? I always feel so self conscious when I wear makeup there because everyone is aggressively anti-fashion. I say this with love, of course 💗
i looooooove this series idea! and this makeup look. I just love how you articulate so many ideas that I identify with but were kind of floating undefined in the back of my mind.
Hannah I love this! Thanks so much for making a realistic tutorial for us that considers real life as being different than YT. I was very scared of eyeshadow for many years due to fears of looking "over-done". There seems to be very little on YT that is in between "no-makeup makeup" and "full glam" so I would love to see more videos like this!
Love this so much! The other day RUclips suggested your video where you did a holiday glam look and I loved it so much! It was so cozy and informative. I was looking for other similar videos and this totally duped the vibes for me 😉
I absolutely loved this idea! I’ve had a stressful day job searching and took a break to watch this and I realized that your video made me smile for the first time today, so thank you for that. I really appreciate you, Hannah.
love this video SO much!! and would love to see more looks from you, we have such similar features and taste and i've now accumulated a few of your favourites (hello 11:11 palette!) so it's super fun for me to follow along with your looks and thoughts :) ideas for other settings: post quarantine party with long lost friends; bar hopping; late night date night; woke-up-on-the-wrong-side-of-bed makeup look; jazz club. looove the tango night idea!
I want to thank you -your description of how you place and blend the eyeshadow for your look was super helpful for me, who also has the hooded eyes. I struggle with anything more than smearing one color all over the lid and calling it finished. So I tried something using a few colors on my eyes as I listened to you in this video and ended up doing pretty okay!
Love this idea and i really do hope this becomes a series! As for settigs, maybe makeup you would wear for an interview, makeup for meeting someone for the first time, wedding guest makeup. 🌹🌷🌻
I really enjoyed this talk through of makeup look for dinner with friends. I would love a vid on how you would do your makeup for a day out sightseeing in Paris or some city vacation. That would be fun. I’m so looking forward to travel again after the pandemic so imagining the makeup for such happy days would be fabulous. Thanks Hannah!
This reminds me of old RUclips but as always, your thoughts behind your choices make it very fresh and interesting! This look is what I imagine your signature HLP lewk to be and I love it! I would love a "what I would wear to go out tangoing" look!! I used to bellydance before the pandemic and that was my gateway into learning how to do makeup. Doing gigs and getting dolled up to attend other dancers' shows was almost as fun as dancing itself. When I get back into the dance scene, it will be fun to see how my makeup choices have changed now that I'm better at doing my makeup.
😍 I see we have different nail colors in every video lately!!! ☺️ I love the duo chrome! It really goes with that print fresh print! Purple and green! 😍🥰
The look for the academic setting sounds very exciting! I always get in the mood for tweed blazers in autumn, so a makeup look to accomany that would be awesome
Great makeup considerations! I would like to hear your thoughts on makeup for attending a bright, hot-humid, outdoor wedding/network event for a mid-40s makeup lover. Cool-tone, warm-tone. Love your final look!
I adore the video series idea (especially since I use to choose my yoga videos: I type in "yoga for xyz" based on what I feel I need most)! May I suggest: - makeup for a professional/business meeting - makeup for a formal event - makeup for clubbing - makeup for a tango festival - makeup for meeting new people - pick-me-up makeup - makeup for a writing day at the coffee shop ... I could go on, girl, I love this...
I forgot my occasion request!! Context: in Australia we are moving onto spring and summer. It will be hot and masks will be most likely worn indoors for the first time since the pandemic. Occassion: impact/colourful (even glittery?!?) eyes that still works during the daytime. The rest of my face will be melting away under the mask anyway ☺️
brainstorming occasions that lend themselves to different make-up looks is fun in and of itself. This spring I had a backyard tea party with my pod - that could be a fun idea? or brunch? I also tend to be very intentional with my make-up before a big presentation (back when I was in grad school and now at work) so that could be a good occasion as well. Not to influence your decisions but I will say that is an occasion that I definitely find myself gravitating toward a statement lip
what a fabulous video idea!! my favorite part of vacation is the final dinner, when i can wear my magpie shiny eyeshadow (and complexion lmao love that auric glow lust) and dazzle my friends in such an intimate setting, as their local disco ball ✨✨💫
This video was so fun! I would love to see all the suggestions you made but quite interested in seeing the tango dancing one as well as the beach. Thks! 💕
This is such a fun video! Would love to see more of these videos, and would love to see even more of your outfit at the end! The first thing that came to mind for me was “what I would wear if I was a kindergarten pottery teacher”
Oh my goodness Hannah this is such an enjoyable video to watch! I don’t comment a whole lot on RUclips but I just had to say this is a great video idea!! It’s so interesting to hear about your process of getting ready for an occasion. I would love it if you did more :)
Would love to see all the scenarios you suggested, and the ones others have suggested in the comments as well! The look you made is absolutely stunning!
I absolutely loved the concept of this video: the way you explain the choices you make. I would loooove your explanation on how to match blush/cheek colour to eyes and lips. I really struggle. I don't find it to be obvious beyond the one blush you know you can put on basically with everything. Your take on the dark brown blush was 🤯.
I love this video idea and look. I’ll wear a full face of makeup daily for video work calls but for “occasions” I prefer less. My favorite recent look was 2 eyeshadows and no other makeup. I just had sunscreen on with a mulichrome shadow on my lids and a very light nude (for my skin tone) cool pink in the crease. It felt sexy.
I thought of one! How you’d do your makeup to a poetry reading or while reading your own poetry to an audience. Of course, only if you’re inspired to do so. ☺️❤️
Hi Hannah! I'd love to see you do a look using Clionadh Blaze, if you please. That's one of my favorite color flip combos; similar to Mac Stylishly Merry. Blaze looks like an amped up version of that. I'd love to see it in action and how you'd incorporate it into a look. ❤️
First date or funeral makeup. Very different occasions but both ones in which I feel like I'm trying to get it just right, how much is too much, etc🤔 Fun series idea and really practical advice too.
Birthday dinner tomorrow night💜. In reference to recommendations, I have a 3 week trip planned for November and trying to pack light for make up. I feel like I always show up with a full kit. Ty Hannah
Ooo this is such a good idea, would love to see the beach version but specifying that you plan to swim (pool party could also be a fun one). Also, your nails are 😍😍
I love this concept, it’s so interesting to me how different people approach makeup. I enjoy wearing makeup as an artistic expression, but I rarely, if ever, choose my makeup for my destination. It’s much more about the mood I’m in on any given day. I’m lucky in that I have a work environment where I can wear whatever eye looks I choose and have never (knowingly 😉) been judged for it. I mean I’m heading off for coffee this afternoon with a full on deep purple smoky eye with dark blue glitter on my lids with a brick red lipstick on 🤷🏻♀️ and would happily wear this to work or dinner or a big night out. The only thing I would be likely to change based on the destination would be the longevity of my base makeup, ie long wear foundation, hair spray like setting spray, ALL the powder (oily skin problems 😅). Beautiful final look Hannah, can’t wait to see your future options ☺️
I’m a server/bartender at a mid-high end restaurant. It is family friendly, but most of our clientele are adults. What makeup would you do that would last a shift of you running around in a possibly warm/sweaty environment, but still looking interesting? Alternatively, what would you wear to attend a drag show at your local bar? (Not a bachelorette party)
You are an AMAZING CONTENT CREATOR!!!! Just joined your Patreon because I couldn’t stand knowing I was missing content 😉. You have brought a whole new level of awareness and transparency to the beauty space. Thank you Hannah!
@@ick.zosted HANNAHWEEN!!!
Yesss! Took the words out of my mouth!
@@ladanabruce1334 👏👏 That's what I think of and wish I could do 😂❤️
What your makeup would be if you were a wedding guest!? Or if you’re a ballerina like the black swan !?
I’d love to see a look for an exhibition opening at an art gallery - bonus if you choose an artist and get inspiration from the style of their work! This is such a great series idea!
yesssss i love this idea!!
Oh this is a brilliant idea!!! ❤❤
I’d love to see a look on how you’d go back into academia as an adult. I’ve been struggeling with this alot, and all «back to school» are aimed at a much younger demographic than I (I’m in my mid 30’s)
I love this idea!
I looove the "intentionally effortless" guise genre of grunge eyeshadow that borders on editorial.
Love the idea!

thank you for this nice comment!
Would love to see the same type of video but with TANGO as the event! 💃🏻💄Of course only if that idea speaks to you. ❤️
You are an absolute goddess and I just love how thorough and thoughtful you were as you walked through this "simulation" makeup for an elegant dinner. Hannah, you might consider doing "event makeup series". My suggestions are theater, school, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Make up for a break up…I’d love your take on this!
Who else feels so beautiful in dimly lit rooms with candlelight and wishes that lighting could follow them around everywhere? 😂😂😂
I really love this idea! I appreciate that you're not focusing so much about an exact makeup look, but rather the thought process behind why you'd wear certain makeup for a certain occasion.

having a rough recovery day (from my top surgery), so this is exactly what i needed!!😭💜
congratulations!
wishing you a swift recovery from your surgery, i'm so happy for you!!!
Ohhhhh congratulations on that big dub bossman; sending you blessings of a cough and sneeze free day 🙏🙏
YAY congratulations!!!! I hope the rest of recovery goes smoothly!!!
Congrats! I hope healing goes smoothly 🌻
Fun fact: The lip rim is called the vermillion border! :-) love watching your videos
Love this so much! The other day RUclips suggested your video where you did a holiday glam look and I loved it so much! It was so cozy and informative. I was looking for other similar videos and this totally duped the vibes for me 😉
Tango makeup!!

OH that SNAP! My heart absolutely LEAPT. This video brought me so much joy today

Hannah thank you so much for this tutorial! You pointed out so many ideas that I wouldn’t have even considered! Thank you for teaching us❤️❤️
Love this idea and i really do hope this becomes a series! As for settigs, maybe makeup you would wear for an interview, makeup for meeting someone for the first time, wedding guest makeup. 🌹🌷🌻
This is such a great concept! I'd love to see your tango makeup, or maybe what you'd wear to a concert.
Dune looks beautiful on you! So naturally sun-kissed 😍
Love that you included the blouse choice in the video!
I love the way you do your makeup!
Your product choices and techniques inspire me so very much! You've really helped me keep my love for makeup alive.
The look for the academic setting sounds very exciting! I always get in the mood for tweed blazers in autumn, so a makeup look to accomany that would be awesome
i would love if this became a series!
Great makeup considerations! I would like to hear your thoughts on makeup for attending a bright, hot-humid, outdoor wedding/network event for a mid-40s makeup lover. Cool-tone, warm-tone. Love your final look!
This video was so nice to watch! Please do more of them
I adore the video series idea (especially since I use to choose my yoga videos: I type in "yoga for xyz" based on what I feel I need most)! May I suggest:
- makeup for a professional/business meeting
- makeup for a formal event
- makeup for clubbing
- makeup for a tango festival
- makeup for meeting new people
- pick-me-up makeup
- makeup for a writing day at the coffee shop
I'd love to see makeup for a day of shopping, or makeup for when you're staying in but want to be extra
what a fabulous video idea!! my favorite part of vacation is the final dinner, when i can wear my magpie shiny eyeshadow (and complexion lmao love that auric glow lust) and dazzle my friends in such an intimate setting, as their local disco ball ✨✨💫
LOOOOVE this type of video for you! I’d love to see a “how I’d do my makeup to work on a poem at a coffee shop” one :)
😍😍😍 *Please do fantasy situations! Pleasantly surprised that we share the same outlooks on makeup for a situation like this :)* ❤️
Oh my goodness Hannah this is such an enjoyable video to watch! I don’t comment a whole lot on RUclips but I just had to say this is a great video idea!! It’s so interesting to hear about your process of getting ready for an occasion. I would love it if you did more :)
Great video! Love your tutorials and learning how you create your unique looks/what tools you use to achieve them ❤
Would love to see all the scenarios you suggested, and the ones others have suggested in the comments as well!
Dang, girl! That editing with the snap to your outfit! 👌🏼 I’d love to see a tango dancing one look. :)
More of these! loved it
Beautiful makeup, quite unique
Just yesterday I was hoping for this exact video from you, and was about to go digging through your channel. Thank you!! 😊
yay, I'm so glad! I really enjoyed making this video.
me too!!! i'm so happy you posted more about your process applying makeup 💗
I LOVE THIS conceit for videos! this is exactly how I make decisions when I get ready every day!
How would you do your makeup for a poetry reading you were attending as a listener vs. a poetry reading you were attending as a reader?
Soo beautiful!
I'm here (again) to give Hannah's video a thumbs up before I've even watched it. Fabulous idea for a video. Again! ✨🌺
Your skin looks so much better now. Is that the retinol?
yes. It's been amazing.
Such an amazing video idea! Thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you. ❤️
Oh, Hannah. I love this video so much! I would love to see a similar video style for professional/office/work zoom calls, please. Thank you! ❤️
(Not a bachelorette party)
the space between the lips and the face is the vermillion. it definitely changes as we get older.
WHAAAAT???? This made my day
I wish we could get persona in the UK! The cheek product looked so beautiful
This is such a fun video idea
