    I stepped on a stone fish on Rodriguez Island.. An indigenous stranger tied my leg blood flow with a bandana, cut open my foot and sucked out the blood. Found help to get me to hospital. I was in hospital 7 days. And suffered with neurological pain for two years. He saved my life and I still don't know who he is or why he was atop a hill at an isolated cove or how he knew that I was in trouble.

      @@wonderofmen6261 I certainly do.. I would have so much wanted to thank him and know who he is. I do recall through my delirium that he was beside my bed while the Doctors was administering the antidote and cleaning the wound. I still think about him and give Praise and Thanks to the Almighty Creator. How he got me in time to the rather rural ill equipped hospital who saved my life in time... I still marvel at the recollection.

    • @maythesciencebewithyou
      @maythesciencebewithyou 5 лет назад +3

      @@Casperthegator You don't need that much time in the sun to fill your vitamin D reserves, depending on skin color it varies. 10 min for a fair skinned person is enough. Also, the body can store vitamin D for up to 2 months. Too much sunlight will cause skin aging and in the worst case skin cancer. In Australia, you should avoid the sun as much as possible and look for shades when you are outside, and always use sunscreen.

Cars from the base used to drive up and down the beach every 10 minutes in case someone stepped on a stonefish. They never went barefoot on the beach, even when swimming. They always wore their boots. This fish is a camouflaged little nightmare! I had to click on this video after he told me that story! 😬

You have the lion fish, many jellyfish types, sea urchins of various venom levels and barracudas... sharks don’t attack often but barracudas will... if you have weird tassels on you bathing suit or it moves just right with a current, or if you’re wearing jewelry and the light catches it just right.... a barracuda WILL attack! We have weaver fish in the UK they embed themselves in the sand and can deliver a nasty sting and have heard it's extremely painful depending on the victims tolerance to pain .

      Caught one of these while fishing. Thank god I did my research before and knew to avoid the black dorsal fin, I hear a lot of stories about what happens when unlucky bastards dip they toes directly into one of these in this country and it sounds very traumatising. At least god designed us black guys as people who can't swim so I'll never have to worry bout that 🤣

    I've caught one of these about the size of my hand in Gulf Shores... Lets just say I didnt try and take the hook out, everyone around me got a look at it then I cut the line and threw it back in. I know that sounds bad but I was not risking it.

    Then you have to contend with the box jelly fish or the blue ringed octopus 🐙. Inland there's venomous snakes and funnel Web spider.

  • @marcusbullock630
    @marcusbullock630 4 года назад +6

    Handling it was hella irresponsible, not because of the venom but because he failed to mention they have a powerful bite and can sever fingers.

    Одно из первых средств нейтрализации яда этой рыбы, опустить повреждённый орган в сосуд с горячей водой (hot water) !!! Меня именно так спасли, когда я слегка поцарапал ногу об шип этой рыбы, когда выходил на берег в Египте в Шармальшейхе.
