the fact that the spine went straight through the flip-flop like it was nothing is one of the scariest things about this. Not to mention the amount of venom that shot out.
Most accidents happen in your home, so your better off outside. Just dont step on this fish and you will be fine. Unless your run over by traffic, shot by cops etc.
@@Casperthegator You don't need that much time in the sun to fill your vitamin D reserves, depending on skin color it varies. 10 min for a fair skinned person is enough. Also, the body can store vitamin D for up to 2 months. Too much sunlight will cause skin aging and in the worst case skin cancer. In Australia, you should avoid the sun as much as possible and look for shades when you are outside, and always use sunscreen.
Just another deadly thing to add to the list for Australia. LOL. I've never encountered one but as far as I'm aware they are usually found in tropical areas in the north
After viewing the Tabon Cave's in Palawan, Philippines I was walking across a shallow bay and was advised by my jungle guide (Rolly) not to cross the bay, to which I replied, no it's ok it's only shallow. No sir, sometimes there's stonefish there. A quick, careful exit ensued.
I heard that sometimes people reaching hospital from that fish's stings were treated for botched amputations because the pain is so insane that they just try to lop off the limb to make it stop
My father was stationed in Okinawa during his time in the air force, and stonefish were a huge concern. Cars from the base used to drive up and down the beach every 10 minutes in case someone stepped on a stonefish. They never went barefoot on the beach, even when swimming. They always wore their boots. This fish is a camouflaged little nightmare! I had to click on this video after he told me that story! 😬
That is a hefty dose of venom he injects from just one of his spines. Imagine being a unlucky person and he hits you with more than one of those spines.
Damn I wonder what Jeremy would have done if he hit the wrong spot bc he had no hand protection so a spine could have hit his thumb when he put pressure on the shoe and that would have sucked lol

@@Hug0Pro i was 10 mins from the hospital so for me there wasn't any immediate danger. Got an anti venom then they put my hand in scolding hot water until the pain went away.
Stonefish are very venomous but they're not aggressive...it's purely a passive defense mechanism. When scuba diving, if you find one, you can tickle it with your hand under the "chin" like a cat.
I love being on boats or ships way out in the sea, I like diving but I’m just not gonna swim like the typical beach goer in the shallows. Not only do you have the stone fish. You have the lion fish, many jellyfish types, sea urchins of various venom levels and barracudas... sharks don’t attack often but barracudas will... if you have weird tassels on you bathing suit or it moves just right with a current, or if you’re wearing jewelry and the light catches it just right.... a barracuda WILL attack! They’ll rip you a new asshole and come back for seconds!
I’m not gonna lie I’ve been hearing about the stonefish since the mid-late 2000s. The first time I heard about it was on the show that used to exist on animal planet called the most extreme. But yeah, every time I go into the water of beaches I go to I always wear slippers I don’t goal just barefoot. Also, I get these fish is a nickname the serial killers of the beach.
We have weaver fish in the UK they embed themselves in the sand and can deliver a nasty sting and have heard it's extremely painful depending on the victims tolerance to pain .

I've caught one of these about the size of my hand in Gulf Shores... Lets just say I didnt try and take the hook out, everyone around me got a look at it then I cut the line and threw it back in. I know that sounds bad but I was not risking it.
