It doesn’t actually matter but if you add air strafing it’s faster I used to do without but now with clicking a d and sometimes s.
You don’t have to let go of all movement keys, holding a or d will make your tap strafes tighter
if you hold a or d as well as s you can get them even tighter. this is why the magic strafe looks so crazy

It's totally possible to hold a and d while tap strafing. in fact, a "tap-strafe" is just the addition of forward inputs to an airstrafe. This allows you to use what's known as "lurch" to make very tight turns. Like you show in the video, it's also possible to do it this way, but I figured I'd comment since you're saying it's literally impossible to hold a and d.
You're right and I found this out shortly after making this video. but you can still tap strafe regardless so I didn't think it was worth redoing the video.

This method is way easier. Thank you. Combined with the exec, I successfully did many tap strafes. Thank you so much man. You saved me a lotta trouble today. My shoulder hurts tho because of practicing.
The only thing I can't do yet is the jump pad tap strafe and keep the momentum of the second jump. Like the instant i wanna tap strafe in the second jump, I just jump vertically without any momentum. Is there an easy way to do it?

Just so everyone is aware, if you dont press A or D whilst tap strafing (like the video suggests), you end up losing momentum after you turn. This can be proved if you try in third person mode. Its to do with momentum as holding the A or D keeps the charactering moving even in air at the same speed it was before the slide.

It's so frustrating. I've been hitting the firing range and I can't replicate this tap strafe. It's only possible to tap strafe if I hold "A" or "D". I made a cfg and it's working fine, but when i'm in the air and spam scroll up it wouldn't replicate the jump pad thing you did in the video. It really is so frustrating because I've been trying all day now but i can't keep the momentum.

I honestly don’t get what I’m doing wrong I’ve watched so many different tutorials I changed my key binds but I just can’t do it for whatever reason
idk if you havent figured it out still, but getting more momentum makes it a lot easier. Try scrolling down or up for a longer amount of time it will help a lot with how far you can turn!

I was having problems with the first jump pad strafe and if you are too try not doing the movement immediately, it helped me.

For the bunny hop tap strafe, I personally use scrllwheel up for forward movement and scrllwheel down for jump. By scrolling up and down in rapid succession while sliding, I manage to do pretty much the same movement you are showcasing.

@@johnragas6195 it took me like an hour and a half to get it down perfectly with only mouse movement, but you really have to get the timing insanely for only mouse movement

You can do bunny hop tap strafing if both W and jump are on the scroll wheel. I have jump on scroll wheel up and W on scroll wheel down. It won't be as effective as the exec since there's some additional delay between the scroll, but it's still pretty good.

Very nice explanation. Do you why it is allowed in comp to have jump on my mwdown and +forward on mwup but not both on the same key? It feels basically the same in game.

I need help when I press f12 it just takes a picture I use steam
open steam, go into your settings then into "In-game" (should be the 3rd option down). On the right side of the window you'll see Screenshot Short Key (It'll be bound to F12) either click the X to unbind it or rebind it to another button
You can’t have tap strafe with controller but you have to be on PC there’s a videos on here on how to bind to do it
I have no clue how to do the folder stuff/ create a notepad file could use some help :)

2:34 No matter how many times I try this it just won't give me a 180 turn. It only turn 180 when I also press A or D. But here u only use jump + mousewheel swipe with W bind. I dont get it
You probably already learned it. You have to bind forward to mouse wheel. When you go on the pad you start flying and then you hit space and mouse wheel up or down and do the 180 with your mouse at the same exact time

u need to keep scrolling the mwheel. scrolling mhweelup while binding it to w is basically the same as clicking w several times. hope this helps

I dont know why but i can only do a 90 degree tap strafe . i cant do 180 degree. does anyone know why? When i turn , i wont change sides while doing the jumppad tap strafe. the mouse isnt doing anything. please tell me why that happens

imp confused because when I use scroll wheel and not any movement keys then it doesn't do a tap strafe, it just moves slightly, ive been trying for a while and it doesn't seem to be working however if I press the direction of where I want to tap strafe then the scroll wheel then it works

Somehow it doesnt work for me. I do know a lot about computers in general but I have some theories. First, Steam and Apex legends are installed in two different places. Second theorie but a bit far-fetched I dont use an american keyboard so maybe I have to rename the keyboard.

I still can't get it right. How did you learn doing the double jump strafe?
I can only do it up to 90 degrees. its a 50 50 chance of me acc getting the strafe and even then its only 90 degrees. Ive been lucky and got the 180 like once or twice but rn im stuck on the most basic stage
This is actually nuts with Pathy is that how some go 180 after a grapple? Also wouldnt it be easier to just bind this to scroll down and replace the normal bunnyhop scrollbutton for a tapstrafe+bunnyhop button? Or does the jump itself not work propperly on its own?
