      DA is my favorite stealth game with Chaos Theory being a close second. DA does what Chaos Theory does without the security blanket of every mission occurring at night and in a relaxed environment and brought better characterization (even if Grim was missing outside of the training simulator). I still feel burned by the damage Conviction did, though. Making an ally into an enemy, pressing the rest button on the major conflicts of the previous games and changing every game mechanic for the worse is just too much to forgive. Blacklist addresses some of the issues, but it still falls short.

      +Richie Rich There is a small difference between the console and pc version. The graphics on consoles are excellent it's the engine that is the problem. UE3 had the weird faces but the lighting and shadows were great. And with the hd texture pack, the graphics get a significant boost. Don't be a pcmasterrace scumbag.

      Jesus I don't understand how you guys can compare chaos theory to this hot garbage. In this game you can basically ghost the entire mission in 15 minutes max. The movements are way too unrealistic and fast for a 57 year old retired guy, there is no use of shadows in this game. I personally rate this game a 3/10 at max and frankly I feel like conviction was better than blacklist at least that game had a reason for Sam to be angry all the time and kill everyone on sight but this one just feels bad this game is the worst in the series by far IMO.

      @@Anant6925 Conviction is the worst in the series, no night vision goggles for the majority of the game (that is a joke), can't even move bodies, that Iraq level, wtf was that, awful. Blacklist also had more stealthy options than Conviction.

    I personally felt that the new voice actor for Sam did a pretty decent job of emulating Ironside's voice, and I also personally felt that the graphics were really nice in this game. Yeah, they weren't INCREDIBLE, but they were good enough to immerse me big-time.

    I love this game! The movement is so fluid, the sound effects are awesome, and the graphics are pretty great. I didn't like that there was such an emphasis on assault tactics though, as opposed to pure stealth. This game still isn't as good as Chaos Theory, but it is a MASSIVE improvement on Conviction. Also, why no Michael Ironside?? Why the hell would they change that classic aspect of Splinter Cell? Just, why?

      Why do PC gamers always sound like jackasses. Graphics are not great, sometimes they look good sometimes quite bad. Im sure if I played on console I would not notice much difference. This is not the game to get for graphics. Personally if you want good graphics I would buy Tomb Raider.

      Chaos Theory was great but I think nostalgia is also playing a huge part. I recently played through it again (pc version) and its graphics are fantastic and still hold up great even today and it has a certain charm which Blacklist doesn't have, but objectively speaking, Blacklists gameplay is way better.

    Excellent game, underrated as usual, these are some of the best days in videogame history, and IGN has a complaint about graphics and a little screen tearing here and there, which is barely noticeable. Community is totally dead, they didn't advertise this game enough because of Watchdogs arriving only a month after the game launched, then it gets fucking delayed. Game does look fairly mediocre on my PC running at ultra, I'm just really pissed this game didn't get the sales it deserved.

    • @JAGUARCD32X
      @JAGUARCD32X 10 лет назад +1

      I understand the game uses a modified Unreal Engine2 and some people were saying it looks poor on consoles but NVIDIA worked with the developers to add lots of PC exclusive graphical features so what do they look like?. The enhanced shadows etc?.
      I imagine the issues on consoles won't be seen on PC?. Low resolution, shimmering jagged edges, screen tear and controller lag from 30fps?.
      I have still to play it but am currently playing Saints Row4

    Blacklist is massively underrated. I love the original Splinter Cell, Chaos Theory is my favourite and Conviction was fine as a one-off stealth-action game. So Blacklist being a combination of the "choose-your-own" playstyle approach of Chaos Theory and the fast paced, brutal stealth action of Conviction was literally the best direction to take the series in. Hopefully Blacklist gets a serious critical reappraisal by fans soon.

  • @tacomcbabyhands4577

    i really do love this game though. i haven't had a problem trying to find servers online and the kills are oh so satisfying. I really love how they added the karambit; it gives the game a charming bit of culture. the story was great and I loved learning about the charecter's backstories. the plot is always what i enjoy most in a game and i wish they put more of it in games these days. I love to read the stories behind the weapons, the armor, and the groups that make games such great stories. the immersion is key, and this game hits the nail on the head.

  • @yell50
    @yell50 10 лет назад +33

    Splinter cell blacklist is a great game, except there is one flaw..... once you have all the gadgets and up grades it gets all pointless earning which is a shame because the interest could have been maintained easily, for instance by losing 10% of your money each time you get detected also there should be a general wear and tear on you stealth suit and weaponry which would require money for maintenance. I cant understand why the program makers failed to see this.

    • @pawwilon
      @pawwilon 10 лет назад

      Because wear and tear and money loss per detection would be annoying as fuck. a) assault mode would be absolutely ignored and b) the amount of money you'd get from a mission would require infinite replays of the same mission. And as much as I enjoy perfectly executed missions, perfecting them can be a pain these days - i.e maps are much more dynamic and less scripted, meaning lot more time spent on disassembling all levels.

    • @yell50
      @yell50 10 лет назад +6

      With respect i disagree with totally here, there no point earning money once you achieved all your up grades and weaponry. Another point there is nothing worse than playing with someone who is forever getting detected if that team mate had 10% of his money deducted each time he would soon learn to be more stealthy and play better making the game far more enjoyable for him or her. It seems we want different things from this game, however i do appreciate you taking your time to share your views and opinions so thanks for your input.

    • @yell50
      @yell50 10 лет назад

      It was an obvious error, my message was intended for someone else, don't you make mistakes ? once a message is in transit its too late you cant take it back, however you have taken the time and effort to pull me up on my mistake which nobody else noticed or really cares about. With respect i feel your time would have been better spent giving you opinions on the game in question but thanks for your input as any input is better than no input at all.

      mark caine Personally I hate when items degrade in games. Granted, most of the time it feels like the weapons are made of paper, but even if it was completely realistic, I just don't want to deal with that while enjoying a game. Just how I feel of course.

    I've figured out a way to make this story bearable.
    First, pretend that the original Sam Fisher is dead, and that the new protagonist has had his memory wiped to believe he's Sam in every way, even so much so that Fourth Echelon hired someone to pretend to be Sarah over the phone.
    Next, pretend Charlie doesn't exist. Seriously; any scene he's in just mute the tv and pretend like Sam is designing his own gear.
    Now make Sam's Op Suit lights red to show some duality to his character and that deep down some nagging thought that he's not the original Sam is haunting him.
    Finally, don't do any of this because no matter how hard you try, Splinter Cell is dead and the real twist is that you're playing a game somewhere in the Bourne series.
    Rest in peace Tom Clancy.

      Probably because they reviewed it on Console as usual. On PC, the graphics are excellent, except the reasonable complaint about the faces (let's call em the Unreal Engine faces, since that's what the game is running, and they look similar to Mass Effect).

    I view this game like I do Max Payne 3. MP3 was a great game, just not a Max Payne game. Blacklist would be more enjoyable - I think - if it wasn't attached to the Splinter Cell series, because, let's face it, it's just not Splinter Cell.

    A lot of people, including me, actually love the graphics and praise I because the effects and lighting looks fantastic. I'm going to assume that you didn't install the HD graphics from the second disc and that the game is a 10/10 because that was the only thing you didn't like.

    This is a good game but at the same time it takes so much away from chao theory. Radar unlocks makes it too easy to detect enemies, objective markers take away from the exploration and freedom of the mission cos in chaos theory I used to always explore to find more info for missions. Unique assassinations are now gone as well. Not as much creativity in avoiding enemies as all you have to do is stick to ledges or rooftops while on chaos theory you could go through vents, pipelines all along ceilings and hide behind objects in the world. There are a few pro's for this game, but to me, more cons due to my experience with chaos theory.

    I gave up on Splinter Cell after Double Agent and Conviction. But after reading the Splinter Cell books again looked online to see if there were any more new books or games coming out. I forgot all about Blacklist. And noticed the reviews were decent and found this review. I actually picked up a used copy today and I will admit I enjoy it. Chaos Theory was my favorite game of the series. Blacklist bought me some joy by stepping back into the shadows a bit. Though, I would like if the next Splinter Cell game were to go with a more classic Splinter Cell feel. Don't remove all of the stuff from Blacklist but make it a little more about stealth, hiding in the shadows. And bring back the original (Chaos Theory) Spies vs Mercs.
    I understand games need to evolve. Though, if they were good to begin with than they should keep the heart of the game. In Splinter Cells case. Stealth, shadows, espionage. Not a run and gun trigger happy crappy let's take the name of a franchise and turn it into something else. It's like if you took Sonic the Hedgehog and made him a slow runner.... lol

    I just finished SC Blacklist and I indeed have mixed feelings. Overall, it's fun to play but I hoped they will bring back that REAL stealth and be more focused on sneaking like Sam Fisher used to do back in Pandora T. and Chaos T.
    I really don't understand why they insist so hard on more agressive combat when Splinter Cell became so popular because of its stealth. Let those shooting scenarios to other games like Max Payne, Gears of War etc. etc. There are many shooters but outstanding stealth games are such a rarity these days.
    Chaos Theory is still the best Splinter Cell and on of the best stealth games ever made.

    Lack of Ironside takes it's toll in a huge way, especially since the whole reason for getting rid of him for the mocap, it seemed like they easily could have just used the new guy for the mocap and thrown ironsides voice on top of it, mostly just because he just sounds too damn young. All that being said, if you enjoyed Convictions Gameplay, you will be pleasantly suprised at how much fun the game is, especially with the new choices available. The Coop is fun and SvM is really neat too.

    My computer cost me around $2500 and I've been keeping it updated for years now. It has been advancing with technology (unlike consoles) and still affordable. I feel more immersed in my games on PC rather than Xbox due to the mouse being a much more fluid human way to control aiming and such. Also, I hardly get lag on any games so I'm not sure where that point came from but whatever I'll just skip it. And finally, you can use a controller if your heart so desires.

    This reviewer is weird, Chaos Theory wasn't hard, and perfectionist in Blacklist is just punishing and unrewarding if you want to play all stealthy and non-lethal. No more sneaking in shadows (at least on perfectionist) means you have to wait behind covers for opportunities (again, if you want to play all-stealthy, meaning only stuns and knockouts). Blacklist has nothing in common with Chaos Theory gameplay-wise, completely different games with completely different mechanics and level design.

    • @noobbotgaming2173
      @noobbotgaming2173 10 лет назад

      I agree. I don't know why many think Chaos Theory is the greatest Splinter Cell game. It's not hard and there are too many dark spots to hide in. I'm not smart or good at games but I didn't find it difficult getting 100% on every mission in Chaos Theory on the expert difficulty.

    • @szczurolak
      @szczurolak 10 лет назад

      ***** The only hard part is that the additional objectives aren't listed anywhere, so you have to pay attention to dialogs in order to get that 100%. Even though CT is easy peasy, it's also super fun. I literally haven't had so much pure, almost childlike fun in a long time.

    So in conviction, am i the only one who liked the concept art of Sam with long hair before they practically scrapped the entire game and re-did it. Tbh it looked pretty darn cool like that. It was a bit hardcore for a stealth game and all in the alpha stages when in gameinformer but he looked pretty awesome.

    The graphics actually look amazing on PC, I don't know which platform did you use. Even now in 2018 it looks incredible.

    He should have talked about the merk melee kills. They are a large part of what makes me keep playing the game and adds to emertion.
