Citrus container grafting with Scionon grafting tool (SGS4-12R)

- Опубликовано: 26 окт 2020
- Scionon Grafting Shears SGS4-12R is used here to demonstrate two different methods for citrus grafting. With the new slim jaw, this model is especially suited to container grafting allowing the user to graft as low as possible when desired. The first graft demonstrated is a whip & tongue. The second is a cleft graft. Both the scion material and rootstock are easily cut using the shears to create the grafts.

What's the blue solution you're applying to the cut ends?
We often get asked what the sealant products are that we show in our videos. The videos are shot mostly in New Zealand and so we use locally soured sealant materials.
The blue paints are either Garrison Rapid or PruneTec. These are available throughout NZ and Australia. Earlier videos show pink paint that changes to red when dry. It is Bacseal Super but is no longer available. These paints are commonly used for sealing grafts and pruning wounds. The applicator bottles are supplied by the vendor when purchasing the paint.
Nice grafting tool, how much sir?

I think we are all convinced that Scionon makes great whip cuts and does it very quickly. So how about slowing down a bit and showing the details...how the scion piece is positioned on the device, either for whip and tongue or cleft grafts. What kind of mistakes to watch out for when using this device. How the scion is lined up with the rootstock (ie: do you tilt it a bit to make sure of the cambium connection). Just some details like this would go a long way towards making the video more interesting. And please skip the birdseye/drone shots, and the labels that obscure the lower part of the screen.
Thanks for the feedback! We agree and try to make better videos in the future.
Chestnut wouldnt survive a day grafted like that.
This is an example of grafting citrus trees.
