    Love this build and the attention to detail.
    First note: if you get flashed on the road - please fix your problem. This is you, not other people. I have 2 lifted vehicles with high output LED lights in headlights and fog/driving lights and do not get flashed at night. This is on us, the drivers of any modified vehicle with upgraded lighting to keep the roads safe.
    That said: props for keeping the factory headlights, and using the TRD fogs.
    Heavy Tacoma, but if you live it in it 100+ days a year, you have done well to keep it down to what you absolutely need to carry and you have justly modified the suspension and gears to handle the extra load. Fuel economy... ha. My OCD was happy with the use of "symmetrical" for the bed rack height, and the comments about "looking good" also gave me warm feelings. Driver knows what he needs, and wants. Vehicle is an extension of himself - true for most of us. It does look fantastic and the extra not-seen goodies have been done as well. Inside driver control center looked organized without going overboard - may have helped to have a good starting point in the TRD Pro. Good luck with the custom suspension. One-off builds are always the best to see because it is not just another...

    As far as bed stiffeners go.. I highly recommend! I installed a decked drawer system and a leer camper cap (about 400ish lbs) and after about a week or two the camper shell back window began to rub when I’d open it. And it became progressively worse. Once I installed bed stiffeners the rubbing immediately went away so they are definitely doing something beneficial for your bed.

    3:55 Don't run your fogs at night on public roads, ONLY in fog or to flash people to turn on their headlights. I heard manufacturers are doing away with fog lights altogether because of gumbies that make everyone's night driving experience more miserable.

    04:45 - trd pro comes as a 2.5 internal bypass shock, and then the Fox DSC dont have internal bypass, but has reservoirs with dual speed adjustment, you can get 3.5" of lift out of them.

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  2 года назад

      Yeah Its a big boy. Hard to know though. Is payload solely based on the frame? I presume changing stock tires and stock suspension to something more beefy probably helps payload. Not sure.

    • @bhshakari
      @bhshakari 2 года назад +4

      Yup, and no matter what you do to the suspension or gearing, it still DOESN'T change the payload capacity, at all. People don't understand that the payload rating is for those components AND, the engine, transmission, axels, CV joints, steering components, and brakes. It also doesn't change the fact that these trucks don't have much horsepower. If you get into an accident with a trick that is that much over factory rated payload capacity, and it is determined that it was a contributing factor, then you are that much more screwed.

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  2 года назад

      @@bhshakari How do you know he doesn't have an upgraded transmission, chromoly CV joints, different LCAs, beefier drive shafts, and a big brake kit? Just because he did not mention it does not mean it isn't on the rig. Reframe the question to ask more about how he deals with payload or if he has addressed it before you just make assumptions and start fights...that approach can stay on Facebook as far as I'm concerned.

    • @motominded5275
      @motominded5275 2 года назад +4

      @@OverlandEngineer nothing he said was negative, it still doesn't change payload , @bhshakari is spot on. Trucks are engineered systems, you upgrade one piece you move a failure point to another. Safety comes into play too, being able to control that weight is key, brakes and stability, not easily done and OEMs spend millions to get it right.

  • @silvermonk13
    @silvermonk13 Год назад +1

    awesome rig. But I don't understand spending the money on a TRD Pro when you are just going to mod everything anyway. To me that is what you get a offroad trim for. If you are not planning on modding then get the Pro. But thats my opinion on it (not that anyone asked :D )

I want to run Method's with a 0-offset, 34's, and a small spacer (12mm) to get the offset dialed and limited rubbing. People have said that's not enough to not rub the reservoirs. Great build.
