Yea I hate it when people are like "I got good by practicing" but then don't tell you what to practice or how to practice, so this was really helpful!

@@rainysunday1229 I think it’s more of just telling us what to do then giving us a full ass lesson
@@Sevren_ eh, being good at art doesn’t mean you know how to teach it. In most cases artists resort to the “just practice” lesson cus they don’t know how else to explain it
@@rainysunday1229 I personally think ''learn how to practice'' is a better answer than just ''practice'' but you're right, to each their own
@@rainysunday1229 Of course not but since most artists won't be giving us full lessons on how to practice efficiently I think that's a better way to phrase it without being time-consuming for them.
My anatomy is getting better but I always struggle with the perspective and somewhat size proportion.
1 good tip is get something like the shape of a can or a water bottle .. now drawing it ...
First is draw a smaller circle ,, thats where the feet of the person is
(Infront of the small circle) Second draw a bigger one than the first .. that's where the head is
Also remember the wider the size gap of the 2 circles .. the more dynamic? the pose is
Now after drawing the circles
Connect them with 2 lines
Now break what you drew into three parts
Bottom (1st) - feet to legs
Middle (2nd) - hips /torso . Shoulder?
Top (3rd) - shoulder?? Neck head
Bodies no matter how tall, short, etc. usually have really similar proportions to one another. Even if a person is wayyyy taller than another person, they’re still gonna have to have the same proportions to balance everything out.
This is how I usually figure out proportions with my characters, when I draw:
Torso length between characters more or less never change, and so do heads, unless a character is say a giant, a dwarf, or a kid (the only thing that really changes for normal bodies are neck length and width which makes the head look shrunken or enlarged)
The elbow aligns with the belly button and the wrist is somewhere in the middle of the upper thigh, the hand ends a little bit above the knee (you can actually check this yourself by looking at yourself with a mirror)
Legs are usually the same length as your upper body (from the head to the waist) there’s not exactly a way to divide the leg from upper and lower but generally it’s right at the middle.
Feet are the size of your forearm most of the time. It shocked me with how true it is irl and I usually use the forearms of characters to see what the size of their feet are.
I suggest looking up Marc Brunet here on RUclips, he’s helped me a lot with anatomy and a lot of other stuff. Hope this helps!

This ended up being extremely helpful for me. I've never really understood exactly how to do an anatomy study, other videos I watched were not made in a way that I could process. Thank you so much, my goblin brain was finally able to grasp this concept!!!

I made this as an agenda for myself, but anyone can feel free to use it! :)
How is it working for u?
Its really nice to hear that "it doesn't have to be perfect" helps to shut up my inner perfectionist that hinders everything i try to draw
UGH same. I hate it so much. That damn inner perfectionist caused me to hurt myself with my pencil once..
Alot..
I started bleeding on my thumb because I got mad of how I didn't draw an eye correctly, because I had stabbed my pencil down hard, and the sharp end being pointed towards my finger. You'd know what would happen next.
@@SCP-ye3zl reading that reminded me of nichijou
I like that you say to break the body down in your own way. When I was starting out I believed there was only one way to draw. This is something I wish I heard when I was starting out. Thank you!

@@vulpesquenne8224 references my guy
What is aphantasia?
@@Sebtuseb_el_zorro_con_traje to put it simply it's when you can't picture things in your head. AmyRightMeow has a video on it. They explain it much better than I could
And that's why i always need a reference to draw.
Tip: buy art reference dolls. I personally have 3 body dolls and 2 hand dolls.
Basically what these are are wooden joints tweezed together to form a human (or hand) , and you can snap them into the pose you’d like. These have been very helpful for reference towards me, and I think you should try them!
Do you have any links for the hand ones? I can't find any
@@necromancer9829 tysm!!
an free alternative is taking pictures of yourself doing the pose as an reference! i sometimes look at my reflections when i want to draw realistically, too. ^^
@@cheeseycheezy Definitely! If you’re lazy and just want to draw instead of getting the poses perfect, a doll would be pretty nice, but pictures of yourself is another way to use reference
I have these. They are pretty cheap too.

You should totally do more of these videos, just watching you draw helped with perspective even if it’s a little bit it’s a noticeable amount. Anatomy is tricky and I have a hard time when I started out, even now when I know I can do so much better. I can’t wait for the next video!!

blue: please do not stress to much

developing your own version of the manequins is very important tip you gave, breaking things down in a way you understand. watching other artists construct their versions live was very important to me, sometimes you look at something that's already done and get lost in complexity but when you see it forming step by step, you get a sense of where to start
"a lot of my drawings are busts/headshots" same. It's just really hard for me to try anything else cause I'm scared it'll be bad or just fail, but I'm trying to get better at anatomy and this helped a lot.
yess this is what I need. Someone pushing me in the right direction, I also practice but with simple shapes so it's not really anatomy as of the muscles being incorrect. This might just help me a little more. :). Thank!!
ruclips.net/video/R7ZcD6R2Jco/видео.html
this is the most helpful vid ive ever seen. ive bees STRUGGLING with anatomy for YEARS and when i ask for tips ppl r like: "just practice-" VERY HELPFUL SHARON
thank you so much for showing us exactly HOW an art study works!! this was super helpful im gonna do day 1 today! (also thank you for showing that tracing reference pics for practice is ok :) theres a lot of stigma in the art community about tracing (and obviously tracing other people's art and posting it as your own is just stupid and wrong), but tracing to understand the shapes and lines is such an important part of learning anatomy for beginner artists)
Oh, that's a great method!
I had trouble breaking down the anatomy sometimes, but somehow it never occurred to me to draw the sections OVER the reference and then draw it again side by side.
Thank you!
thank you so much for this! this is a life saver! there's not a lot of "how to study" videos out there when it comes to art so, kuddos to you for this!!!
ruclips.net/video/R7ZcD6R2Jco/видео.html
This is such a great video and really encouraging actually! I feel like the most important part of the learning process is actually learning how to learn, and it's nice to see a youtube artist show that part of their process!
studies are so important! this is a perfect way of teaching a good method of practicing art. for any beginners or people who don’t do that many studies, don’t forget you can do this for anything you want to get better at drawing! and there’s plenty of videos out there on guided studies so you have some instruction as well, in case you’re not sure how to go about it :)
Thank you so much for making these art tutorial videos!! They help me so much personally and push me to strive towards my dreams of art!! We all appreciate the time you put into these and thank you again for your brilliant art advice ❤️🙏🙏✨✨
ive been doing this for a month instead of a week and IT HELPED ME SO MUCH

Tysm for this 😭 I've made studies so overly complicated, but watching your week of studies made me see the whole process in a new light 😭😭🌟
Thank you so much for making this video! I am so happy that you actually defined what you mean by "practice" and "study" and then showed your process. Very helpful!! I learned a lot!
I love how your videos make drawing look fun again!! it really gives me inspiration. it doesn't make me feel like I have to do something I don't want too. thank you so much!!!
I think this is one of the best videos I’ve watched on anatomy. After I realized I needed to actually practice anatomy consistently to improved I then realized that I needed to break everything down to shapes that my brain understood. I was too busy looking at the way everyone else broke it down than to do it the way that made sense to me. (Not saying that studying others way of breaking down the body isn’t helpful, it can be!) I loved this video. I put it on while working on my own art and it distracted me 😂
I have mild aphantasia so imagining 3d is so hard, but this is so helpful
I do as well! I understand it can be hard but it’s definitely possible 💕
i love all of these tutorial videos you’re doing recently! super helpful
ahhh this is so helpful!! i really have been putting off working on anatomy recently so this was like a wake up call,, thanks!!

thank you so much this was really helpful! I'm trying to practice more and did this exercise today! Usually when I draw, I do it to get a finished piece but its nice to get some more rough sketches in
This is so helpful, one of the few artists that helps you learn anatomy without just saying “practice and you’ll get it” :D
Thank you for this video! I've been in a rut or major art block for the longest time (months) and haven't been drawing or enjoying drawing as much as I used to, but getting to watch this video, seeing the artist's inconsistency in moods when drawing (where some days are not as good as when u start, or every day just won't be your day when drawing) especially when you aren't able to give the best rest to your body is something I often fail to realize and forgive myself for.
Just after this video (drawing while watching it) lifted my spirits up and got through the basic anatomy sketching part of my drawing.
10/10 very helpful and relatable. Thank you :DD
In started to practice drawing because I want to learn for once. I can draw objects but always struggled to draw human shapes and, thanks to you, now I have the idea to practice and learn.
You have enligthen me. Thanks a lot!
I'd love to see more of this series! Would be nice to have in the background while I practice drawing myself :)

Thank you so much, I don't know why but that trick with starting at the torso instead of the head made my art look 100% better. The other stuff also really helped.
Watching people improve is da best ♥
You did an amazing job!

Finally, someone who actually shows how they practice!! Can you pls link wherever you're getting the references tho?
Mostly Pinterest just serch for pse ref u can get more websites in there
You give me hope, that I can do it.
I heard if you put ur mind on something and believe that you can do it you are most likely to succeed. So, don't be discouraged that what you did is a little bit wrong mate!👍
this actually works very well, i always tried to draw a simple body in a specific pose from imagination and it looked very off, but the last couple of days ive been trying this method and i've actually slowly noticed more improvement which im very happy about :)
That is a genuinely smart way of learning certain poses. I have recently started properly diligently learning anatomy and I've been taking the hour or so to render skulls and other skeletal structures. My plan has been to literally build the body up over my studies. This though will come in handy a bunch when trying to get poses for my comic later on. I have already done some rotoscoping in the past, this is just is just another version of it.
Where did you find your models? I wanna start this but I can’t find references
I usually go to Pinterest ^^
if u want to use 3d models u can customize use clip studio paint👍
@Just Pizza u should put model poses, or irl drawing poses thats where i find mine
Just go to pdf drive, search up a pdf pose book and boom infinite poses for life ☝️😅
Line of action, quick poses and adorkastock are great websites
Involuntary giggle at “crotch study” 😂 thank you for helping me start my figure drawing study!
This is so helpful! I've always been really lost on how to study and practice anatomy. Now I understand way better
this channel singlehandedly broke my art block and i actually learned how to do art studies bc of the structure of ur vids! i’ve improved so much now, and i can actually use references! thank u for being inspiring 💕💕
"Hello, I'm blue" great, permanent earworm.
Hi ! where can I find reference pictures like you had for studies ? Thanks you so much for you week long class, it's exactly what a real beginner like me needs !
This video was actually so helpful in teaching how to study anatomy! I'm pretty beginner level, and most people usually just say to look at references and study those but you actually showed us how to study them in a way that's easy to understand :) Again, thank you so much for this video, it was really helpful and I feel,,,, less scared of studying anatomy now :))
You make anatomy more normal!and your voice is so chillaxing and sweet
Where did you get your reference photos from? Is there a reference pack that you purchased? I like how dynamic the poses were.
Second this, was wondering the same thing
thanks for this! I find getting started is always the hardest... but I understand what they mean by "practice" , but they never give you a practical answer on how to do so lololol. I really like the references you used for your study, where did you find them?
Your voice makes the video so much better than it already is, people like you and Marc Brunet who elaborate on "practice" help so much
For some reason, just listening your voice make my brain going bruuhh.
Thx, now i become more confident.
Hiii ^^
Heyyy 💕
i am studying to draw skeletons, is that a way to start drawing any poses i can think of?
I've been using this video as practice each day. Thank you for making this video!
It was very fun and encouraging watching how much you improved in just a week!
Hi, I have a question, how did you find your style? i've been trying to find mine but i can't :')
there's a lot of tutorials in yt but i think the best option is to look through a large number of artists and pick little things you really like from their art and implement it to your art!
At the start it might seem like your style ain't original but it is! Everyone's born with their own unique artstyle whether you like it or not. You will just need to develop it by implementing stuff you like from other artists art! (Like with what the guy above me said).
find a ton of artists you like and take little things from their art and add them to your own! at least that how i found mine. i really like anime art style but i wanted a more anime-cartoony style so i looked at the mob psycho 100 art style and the studio ghibli art style and a ton of other artists who draw similar to that. it is very helpful! i made a little thing in google notes with each artist i want to draw like and with images of some of their art. its super useful for when im in the middle of art block
work on fundamentals- style will come naturally, dont worry too much about it or else you'll find yourself not improving for awhile; speaking from experience.
I used to think the same thing. It took me a while but out of the blue I had my own drawing style. I didn't notice but I took things like eyes from a tutorial book, or legs from myself? Its something that you discover overtime and it happens at different paces for everyone. If you don't find yours for a while, that's fine. As long as you have fun drawing :)
This was super helpful for me, tysm. Quick question, on Deviantart your about says they/them but on YT it's she/her, I don't want to say anything that could be offensive or misgendering but, what are your pronouns?
They might use both? like she/they or they/she but i'm not sure of course
@@user-uu2uq4dt8j Ohhhh okie dokie, thank you :)
Dang it I don't have the "materials" to draw over an image. Onto the next tutorial
Your tutorials are never lacking with examples-- makes it so much easier to understand
imagine doing this kind of art practice and then youre drawing women and once you get to the freestyle drawing part you notice you draw them much more thiccer than the original.
definitely not me, what are you talking about? haha....
