what i do i google a few references, analyse them, then draw what i remember. helps me alot i can now draw decent poses without reference while keeping in mind all the muscle movement
This video really helped me, Blue. Two key things were looking up dancer poses and not focusing on the shape too much. Often times I would look up pose references, but often times the models were wearing clothing. Even when I searched underwear model, the poses were not very challenging. Focusing on just trying to sketch the gesture made learning the shapes a lot easier for me as well. I would always try to slowly draw each arm or leg and it always just looked weird to me..but focusing on just the gesture has really helped!! I’m looking forward to your next video! Breaking down reference is really difficult!
I will be back later for this video just wanted to say I started to practice human anatomy with your previous videos and just wanted to thank you because they helped me with understanding the shapes that are used in anatomy and made my life easier. Again thank you and keep good work 😁
This came at the most perfect time ever. I’ve been wanting to do anatomy studies but been… procrastinating.. And this video really helped. not to mention i was trying to find an equivalent to your csp brush LITERALLY EARLIER TODAY, and then this comes. as a procreate user, I really appreciate it. And i discovered i really like using the narinder pencil aswell! Anyway, great content as always, youre such an inspiration to me and i love all your tutorials and speedpaints. Thank you for doing what you do :)
ive just realized ive never left a comment on one of your videos before, so i just want to thank you for essentially teaching me how to draw humans lol. i’m slightly exaggerating, but it’s still accurate. ive been drawing animals since i was a little kid, to the point where i never started to learn how to draw people until november 2021. your videos on anatomy helped _so_ much!!! your videos in general help me with my art so much. i usually have a hard time understanding most art tutorial videos (a lot of stuff just flies _right_ over my head sometimes lol), but you explain complicated stuff like form and anatomy simply enough to make it easy to understand, without talking down to the viewer. plus, your voice is so relaxing, and combined with the lo-fi music (i’m usually not a fan of lo-fi, but i love the music you use), it feels so nice and calming and i just love it sm. i always drop everything to watch your most recent uploads lol anyway, on the topic of this video: this inspired me to get off my butt and start doing some more pinterest studies lol. i just got out of a _nasty_ art block, so im trying to kind of catch up on what i missed out on (bc i was so unmotivated and drained) if that makes sense? basically thank you ❤
Me fr 😭 I’ve always like drawing animals, always have, wasnt till like a year ago I had more interest in drawing people, and this channel helped me with things that I didn’t know about when it came to drawing humans or digital art in general
@@Ichigitchyyayadada it’s been a hot minute since ive drawn cats & i’m not very experienced in drawing dogs, but here’s a tip, as somebody who was in the warrior cats fandom as a kid (so ive seen and made LOTS of kitty drawings lol): cats are “squishy” (for lack of a better term). if you’ve seen those videos where cats somehow fit themselves through impossibly small spaces and act like nothing happened afterwards, it’s like that. with the way they move, you’d think they have no bones at all. because of that, you can kind of ignore most of their anatomy and it’ll most likely turn out alright. obviously, you should study their anatomy, but most of the time the majority of it gets thrown out the window bc cats bend and stretch so weirdly take that with a grain of salt, bc i need to study cat anatomy and ive been procrastinating on it lol, but that’s the most important thing that i’ve seen when it comes to drawing cats
I always drew the head disproportionate to the body. I thought it was just me for a long time and it was really frustrating because I thought "all these artists understand it, so why can't I?" and hearing you an amazing artist that I really admire, saying that you have the same problem as me made me really happy ☆*: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆ also shoes are a nightmare to draw lol
i think your tutorials and study guides and overall lovely tips and tricks just genuinely saved my motivation to keep improving and learning my artstyle. thank you so much!
i've always struggled with sketching heads but always found bodies easy, thank you for uploading this since I mainly improve my sketching from watching your videos ^^
This really motivated me to actually start using references and practicing and studying. Everytime I actually get a moment to sit down and do it I always end up putting it off and for some reason I hate references. But this really motivated me and I’m going to try my best and get a lot better
Thank you so much for this! I have been drawing cartoons since I was little, and only recently I decided I've gotten good enough with cartoon anatomy that I need to learn real anatomy. Especially since a character I just fell in love with has much more realistic body proportions than what I'm used to lol. It made me feel better when you said that drawing the head too big for the body was something you struggle with, because that's one of my biggest challenges right now, from years of only drawing cartoons. So thanks!
Thank you i have beem struglling on how to study spesific parts of the body and i came accross this video the torso study was really useful (i realized that you can put a triangle on where the neck would go which was a game shanger since i have been sturglling on how to connect the head to the torso on dynamic poses) youre such a good teacher and i love how you paint and use colors
when i found your channel, i became really obsessed with your artsyle, and i was really struggling with anatomy now i can draw a little better.. thank you so much
Stonehouse's Anatomy by Seok Jung Hyun has a lot of detail about anatomy, i also recommend trying to memerizing the bones and muscles, makes drawing people and anamals so much easer
That's cool! I decided I wanted to study some anatomy for drawing like, 2 days ago, so the fact that this video was uploaded 3 days ago MUST be a sign of destiny right? Waiting for my drawing tablet to arrive and then, time to get studying! Thanks a lot for the videos you do regarding Tutorials/Explanations, as a "beginner artist" (I didn't really draw much at all, just starting now) they help SO MUCH
i would honestly LOVEE to see a video on how to use references! I really struggle w it. Ppl always tell me to use references but they leave the part out on how i should go abt it. Its really overwhelming at times and i would lovee to see that video💛
This has little to do with the actual content of the video ; I just want to say that I love drawing on paper, especially sketching. Sometimes, rare times, I do a finished piece on Digital, it makes it kind of balanced I guess? XD Oh, and, of course, I'm not gonna comment and not leave one about the video itself!! I find pretty reassuring up to a certain degree to see you do boring stuff again, and again, and again, up to getting tired of it, doing something else, and getting back to it xD . Also, the statue study is actually genius!! I'm totally going to start using these ; not only it helps a lot, it makes it a lot more fun just because of how beautiful and impressing these structures are :D
I would also learn about the placement and functions of the bones and muscles if you haven't already, it'll definitely help you draw more convincing action poses since the stretching/contracting of the muscles affect the surface forms quite a lot. I can tell you're already really good at the mannequin figure so if you're interested in leveling up further, I highly recommend Proko's anatomy course.
I always try studying anatomy but I always end up getting art block and lost motivation in the middle of the process. Does anyone have some tips for me?
Can you do a color theory/paint study type video? I've only ever sketched in black and white and your speedpaints always mesmorize me. So many colors and so many brush textures. How do you get started?
Honestly, I'm exactly like you, I only draw with pencil and paper because colors are too hard to I use values to communicate colors in my art, I have started digtal art with color, and I recommend compiling pictures of colored art with things you like to be in your coloring style, also random tip but let your colors define borders and stuff, and try using colors to divert your readers attention to certain parts. Sorry if I talk way too complicated, I'm a A* English Student... Best luck in your drawing! ♥
I just started in using csp. Ive done digital art before, but im so bad at drawing bodies on a tablet, any tips of how to draw bodies better in digital. Also w vid.
i swear this video couldn't have come at a better time, i'm working on improving my sketches for a portfolio and this really helps
