I dig this thing just the way it is. I grabbed a 2s Lipo and just added a cooling fan since I’m OCD. This thing is more fun than most the RC cars I have. Mainly for me, because it takes me back to my early teen years in the 80’s when I had the Tamiya monster beetle and the lunchbox. Not every RC has to be 4wd or go 50mph to be a ton of fun. Great video.
Man, couldn't have said it better. I haven't got one yet but the yearning for one is more than just about any other RC I have for the exact same reasons as your comment stated. It'll be in the fleet soon. I'm just afraid my son will want one too and maybe my dad as well so I'll have to buy 3 😅
Arrma has a hit with the Gorgon, like most of us from the 80's, this platform is all we could afford and is just slow enought for the front yard, we all can't just go to a killer bmx track when we want😊.
Born in the early 80's here. I have a 3S Vorteks and Granite, but I really like tossing around the cheap Granite Voltage RWD with a 2S pack the most. It's fast enough to run around in low grass and it's fun to kick the back end around in the dirt or loose gravel. I think I'm going to grab a Gorgon because it looks like the next generation of the Voltage. The only thing it lacks is a horn like my Nikko Black Thunder truck from the early 90's. I remember running into my uncle's foot and honking the horn at him. That was great fun as a kid!
I own 2 of these now. This review is spot on. Both of mine have brushless 3S Spektrum systems and handle routine bashing. One point of advice: if you upgrade to 3S, purchase extra servo savers. On this vehicle, their plastic and will crack open on a direct hit against anything solid at 3S speeds (35mph+).
They should offer the kit version without the charger and battery. Strange that they chose to go that route... Can't wait for the dual motor 4wd Gorgon !!
Bloody great RC mate! Dropped in the 3S from my Vendetta, a 20T pinion, a motor fan, and a wheelie bar, an the truck boogies. Great fun at skate parks and bmx tracks. Best value for money RTR RC at the moment. And you’re right, the body is weak as piss; Next one I get, I’m reinforcing the crap out of the body before putting it on a driving with it! PS: I own five ARRMAs, and this is my favorite one at the moment 😉
Been into RC car since 1983, and tbh people keep calling this truck a great noob truck, but playing with this (stock) it feels awesome. i have had more fun with this than my LMT losi which i had to totally upgrade ( even tho it's sold as totally upgraded). puts a smile on my face:..ps the tires are good.
Were running a vendetta 3900kv combo in ours with a 16t pinion. Perfect setup. Quick on 2s and doesnt get hot at all. Great vehicle. Horizon is coming out with new wheels and tires as well.
The positive & negative is marked on the tx, open the battery flap & it is stamped on the metal contacts on the inside of the battery flap. You can also get a 20t possibly a 21t pinion in the car.
I’m going have too try because motors I have are lower kv but can always run a 3 or 4s I just use smaller batteries 🔋 people think you always need 5000 minimum 😂 smaller batteries way less weight and easier on the truck super cheap and take few seconds to change
@@williamperri3437 that would work I’m on long island same temperatures , with a fan I get away with higher gearing with the brushless systems, I asked my son thought I should throw bl system he said why not leave one stock , our yard not to big and I’m sure lap times are just as good if not better without controlling over powerd rcs
The Traxxas stampede is a rear motor not a mid motor it all determins on what your used to working on my dad always had one and there fun trucks to tinker with if you know of the Bandit and Rustler they all have the rear motor lay out not very many cars are rear motor anymore alot are mid motor even my Aarma Senton is mid motor just gotta change with the times i guess.
For the last time, the SR215 and SR315 receivers from spectrum are dual protocol, SLT+DSMR. If you hit the little bind button 3 times on the receiver and turn on an SLT2 or SLT3 transmitter, it will bind. And the 2in1 ESC has a slot for an external receiver. I save the SLT2 remotes to pair with SR215 when I convert LaTrax Rally’s for small course racing. Edit: Stock Arrma brushed are 12 turn, this is a 14 turn black case 540/550.
Super fun rc looks awsome pretty tuff super light and does like 26mph stock on 2s. Only gripe is the body make sure. To gorrilla tape it first and battery tray placement is kinda anoying . Will fit a 5200 2s
Hi bud I've just upgrade my brushless system on the arrma gorgon but having some streeing Problems like the servo saver keeps die on me what upgrade servo saver do you think I just go for let me know cheers 😊😊
I can't find the kit without the battery and charger in stock but I do have a 10 BL Hobbywing combo ordered to go into it when it is available. I just can't make myself pay for a battery and charger I'll never use once.
I just reading reviews on tower one person esc went on fire 🔥, feel bad because someone can have all that stuff for plenty of people who just take it out or don’t use . Same with the mini bs ts , I was a kid these electronics would be like gold but same for mini bike engines right lol
Ok my question is do you know if the axel/diff/slipper can be swapped over to the voltage now that u have hands on it? Also is this really worth the money over purchasing any of the 2wd brushed traxxas models? I own tje voltage and it is not. It was a waist of money especially for the plastic diff metal dog bone issue. The direct drive didn't even like me putting a 12t titan motor on in it. Snapped the diff cup and stripped tje spur gear jumping off a plastic skate board ramp lol
I don't know, but I doubt it. The slipper requires the spur cover because there's a bearing in there that holds it in place. Everything about this tranmission seems different.
@@hansd-uu9nw I know what you mean, but that's not how my rating works. It's compared to other cars of the same type -- 5 stars doesn't mean perfect, it means the best in its class.
Gorgon handles better because he was designed to be a RWD-Truck. But if you buy the 4x4 Upgrade Kit then the Granite is better, but more expensive. Get a Gorgon and a Big Rock 3s.
Nice overview of the Gorgon. It sure is an awesome car for the price. Hopefully Arrma will continue with this platform and come out with a version 2, 3 and 4. 🦾

the black foot was my favorite. this reminds me of the lunch box and monster beetle. this is exactly want i want

It's a awesome 2wd truck I am no beginner and I am having a blast with mine! It's great for anyone! Nice review. 👍👍
For sure!

Thats it. I'm Born in 84 and a 90s Kid . It reminds me to my childhood. Still Love this RC. Keep it simple
I switched to a radiolink 7 channel transmitter/receiver w/gyro and a traxxas 12T motor all on a 2s lipo, its a rocket on a budget.

They should offer the kit version without the charger and battery. Strange that they chose to go that route... Can't wait for the dual motor 4wd Gorgon !!
Yeah, I wish they had a standalone kit. I ended up giving the battery and charger away.
Do you know something we don't!? 😮😅 4x4 dual motor? 🤔

I love this bro. That’s my goal for Christmas to see if I can get my daughter one. My angel will love raising hell with this!!!

Should do full optional on all kit or rtr/ select coulor/battery or not

Ok, but if you're going to run an SLT radio, you should get an SLR300 receiver. They're $10 cheaper.
Do you know about metal spur gear for this truck?
High praise! I saw one of these in the hobby shop and wasn’t impressed with the tires so I didn’t buy one. If there was a brushless version, maybe…..
maybe a brushless for $199?

40mm fan fits rear motor hole
i heard that the price of the body is outrageous for what it is, so yeah points to aftermarket body
$40 for the unpainted version.

Those tires are more expensive than the Fortress mts.

The news stampedes far better than that truck.
The $320 one?
Not for twice the price it’s not. 😂 I have the stampede. Buyers remorse big time. Because it sits and collects dust now that I have the Gorgon.
But it's not...
oh no your front wheels are on backwards!
Are you crazy? Just buy one! Arrma rules, Traxxas drools!
