豚バラブロック 300g
じゃがいも 中2個
玉ねぎ 中〜大2個
人参 中1本
しめじ 100g
トマト 大1個
にんにく 1片
生姜 1片
カレー粉 小さじ2
塩 少々
胡椒 少々
水 700cc
カレールー 半箱分(約115g)
(トマトケチャップ 大さじ1~2)
(中濃ソース 大さじ1)

Chocolate, honey or grated apple are also a few things to try that many people add to their japanese curry.
I make curry myself-- that is, Japanese curry, and one of my favorite things to add is a can (rinsed first) of diced water chestnuts. I like the little crunch they add to the sauce when eating.

Interesting. I didn't know bread can freeze! I've always toast it in the oven or sun dry it and throw it in the blender with a bit of seasoning for bread crumbs.
@Uzoma Nnorom there is lmao, the chef uses frozen bread to make bread* crumbs
you should add the onions before the garlic because the garlic burns really fast :)
Yup or even better drop the bacon first then onions with ginger and then the garlic
i guess japan likes Curry Cubes instead of powder and spices etc..
They probably don't have the time to make it from scratch, also not just Japan any country who has curry cubes would use it

If you want to make the curry from scratch, or you don’t have access to the curry cubes, then use this method to get deep, rich curry.
In a deep pot with a thick bottom, brown the meat on all sides. Don’t move it around too much, you want the fond (cooked on meat juices) on the bottom.
Shred the onions in a similar manner shown in the video, but make the strips as thin as you can get them. Sautee the onions in the pot over VERY LOW HEAT. You’re going to sweat them, not cook them quickly. They’ll cook down, releasing their juice. Keep cooking them low and slow until the juice is mostly gone, and the onions have a light golden brown color, and they’re consistency is almost like a blended paste.
Now add in the ginger and garlic, and sauté until aromatic. Toast some of the curry powder in a pan or pot until aromatic, around 30 seconds on mid-low heat, and then add to the onions.
Pour in around 6 cups of water, it’s gonna cook down.
Add the meat and carrots. You can grate an apple in here if you want, but I prefer it without. Also add in two finely chopped tomatoes, or a can of crushed tomatoes.
Add the carrots and simmer until mostly tender.
Now peel the potatoes and cube them to your preferred size. I usually do .5-1 inch cubes because I like to have multiple things on my spoon at once. Now cook until almost tender.
Then I want you to add around half a cup of butter and flour to a separate pot, add in some more curry powder, and cook until the four is toasted slightly and the paste is formed. This is called a roux. It’ll thicken up the curry and darken it if the flour is toasted.
Stir in the roux and finish cooking the potatoes. Add in some frozen peas and then cook until your desired consistency.

januar gustaf yeah 🅱️, that’s fine. Add it in during the last curry powder, and don’t toast it too much. Unless you want to choke on your own tears, because that will burn your throat like tear gas.

wait wait wait! What happen between making the crumbs and frying the pork cutlet? how you make the bread crumps stick? eggs?
Laurent De Serres Bérard Beat 1-2 eggs depending on how much pork your frying. Dust the pork with flour to help the egg stick. Dip in the egg to help the breadcrumbs stick. Toss the pork in the breadcrumbs. Place the pork back into the egg and coat again. Then back to the breadcrumbs. This is from how I’ve seen other cooks make pork katsu. Hope it helps! 😊

In Indian curries or for most of the curries around the world the amount of onion tends to be really high! It forms the main base along with tomatoes.
