These paints are absolutely amazing and I love how they made the tube openings it’s easy to put the paint on the palette and it doesn’t get all gunked up around the lid.
The portrait is based on an image of male model Sean O'Pry. (Many will recognize him from Taylor Swift's Blank Space video). I'm a makeup artist (and fine artist) and I've LITERALLY painted his face for runway shows. When you work on someone's face either in painting or in makeup, their features get sort of seared into your mind!!! Great colorful interpretaion of him!
Thanks so much for this. I took the class also. Would it be possible to list the colors in order left to right for warm and cools? I tried to screencap but couldn’t read the colors. I want to setup my palette this way.
Would you ever advise having a separated palette for w/c? Not just top/bottom, but separated by something, say, masking tape? I ask only because my palette gets pretty messy and sometimes my paints get confusing.?
I usually in love with all " how to" Milan's videos ( unfollowed everybody else, but Milan art). However, this video is confusing for me. Should probably watch several times, that's the plan.
When she gets into molecular level stuff some people get lost. Main points, there are warmer and cooler versions of colors. There are more opaque and more transparent versions of colors. They have the letters on the tubes to remind you which combo they are. The theory is that warner colors feel like they come towards you more and cooler gives more of a receding effect. (Like chiaroscuro with light&dark, but with warm&cool)
@@starveartist yep, when she explained the dark/light in one of the videos i was absolutely thrilled as none of my professors at the local art school, where I am taking classes for quite a while , explained this in a simple terms as Elli did. I consider her teaching ability as amazing as it could be, almost genius. In this video, however, the main concept got lost as she was trying to fit too much info into 11 min.
I really love this portrait Elli. I’ve seen quite a few abstracted portraits of men in galleries in England depicted in a pop art style (which I also really like). The free content on your channel is super helpful so is much appreciated. As an amateur artist who has sold and exhibited work I’m considering the Mastery program to take me to the next level (such as more regular sales and opportunity to exhibit in a gallery). However I’m a bit worried about the pace of the course and the time commitment as I have other demands on my time. Having said that, I can probably commit to 5 - 6 hours per week. Is this enough to successfully get through the course? Grateful for any advice on this point. Thanks
We're so glad you love the portrait and find the content valuable! The mastery program is designed to take one year at around 20 hours per week, however we understand that not everyone can commit that time. @@deromillyYes, it is a pigment thing, but we actually have a professor of chemistry at a university doing research into this and she's confirming that the BINDER affects the whether or not the pigment moves endocentrically or exocentrically. Acrylic polymer binders neutralize this process, thus neutralizing the "warm/cool" effect.
@@JakeDunn-dy9ls Hmmm. If that were the case, I'd expect my recent addition of cad red to NOT pop forward over the quin magenta and cool blue background in my current work, but it does... I'd be interested in seeing the final report.

I use acrylics, and my biggest problem is trying to mix correct colours. When they are wet and look correct when applied to the painting, thecnextbday when they're dry, they look different, so the problem starts all over again. Someone, please help.
This helps me...Acrylics lighten a bit when they dry. While painting I try to create more contrast between colors than I think I need. Also when applying a top glaze it tends to make colors pop more

It takes a well-educated eye to differentiate it or know the color wheel, but on the marketing side, have you thought of parteniring or manufacturing your own Milan Brand?
I want your oilpaint. Can I find them somewhere in Europe? I live in Sweden and we don’t have them here. You have to promote them to some business in Sweden 😃
Your labeling system is SO BRILLIANT!!❤❤❤

You are wonderful!!!
In my mind this Broadly speaking, can be applied to Acrylics also. Keeping in mind the different Composition between Acrylics and Milan Art Oils 😮❤
Looks fab! I wished it was sold in the UK
Well, we do ship internationally ;)

Mais qu'en est-il des couleurs primaires? Y a t'il des chauds et froids aussi?

Can I use mars black instead of ivory? I heard it’s slightly warm as well

Does acrylic paint have warm and cool?
Yes, although the Milans disagree. Scientifically it's pigment thing, not a medium thing.
