    i got a 327 for free because they rebuilt it and left water in it and it cracked it runs hard has a bunch of after market parts on it and chrome but it don't hold water but it don't mix with the oil then i started looking at the block and it is cracked just under the head on the block goes all the way back then down to the oil pan i thinking how does it not mix with the oil but it runs really good and hard . i really only wanted the truck it was in . so i have all the internals for a 327 steel crank heavy rods 12 to 1 pistons moderate cam sounds like a 312 duration about 500 lift . i all ready have 2 327's that are built but will look for another block just i never run a sbc i pull them out and put a bbc in them still have 2 4 inch stroke 450 hp 454 sitting factory built engines

    This brings back memories when my brother bought a 307 we couldn't get the engine to crank over turned out one of the Pistons were rusted up in the block the cure to get it to spin over was we're talking junior high here high School I loaded up my wagon with four 12 volt batteries and I hooked them up in series parallel and information it didn't break the ring gear but the engine broke loose and ran one problem it had a miss and a slight lifter sound we thought that was the broken end of the connecting rod on the big end hitting the side of the block noise went away after a little bit but my brother can never get to miss fixed so after compression check he pulls the head off on the side that had the problem turned out that piston wasn't moving up and down with the rest of them on that side of the block again the oil pan comes off he finds out what happened so he pounds out the piston gets a new connection run and voila running on a cylinders amazing what you can do in the backyard as a teenager. Little help from our dad.

    This is just a suggestion only but you might consider sparying some PB BLASTER IN each of the Cylinders and let it sit for a couple of days and during that time of settling come buy and spray it a couple of more times. This will help with the tear down of the engine. And who knows you might get lucky and the crankshaft may not be damaged as much as you think. Good luck with your tear down.

    I'm thinking on that 1st side it looks you had a bad head gasket and that's probably why you have rust in the Cylinders.

    Put some ATF in the cylinders and let it soak to help loosen it up

    A clasped lifter is signs of a oiling problem, maybe a bad oil pump, or they ran it hard low on oil, just thinking out loud

      They will collapse from sitting oil pressure is critical so if it's not running a long time it's not a spring inside there that keeps it pumped up hydraulic pressure does

    I have this engine in a 1957 Chevy. My dad did it in the late 60s early 70s. It’s has the double hump heads. Should I keep it or LS Swap it?

    should have left the plugs in and you would have seen how everything was positioned ,,,, and how it was burning the feul ...
    it's the small things you have to look for sometimes !!!!!
    THOSE ARE GOOD HEAD ON THAT ENGINE ..
    pull the heads with the plugs in the HEADS...

    • @hoodstarperformance4758
      @hoodstarperformance4758  2 года назад

      I hear you but remember those plugs was changed after it sat. Meaning the plugs didn’t have any mileage on them

    can’t expect to knock a piston thru the bore if it’s connected to crank and rod ? …. wouldn’t even turn a free engine ? …

      Since the engine was locked he couldn't access all the torque converter bolts to remove it. It's in the way of mounting it on a stand.

    Never use an impact to remove head studs man that can tell you the tension of each bolt and if there was lots of heat etc in that area… like the sound of music you gotta feel and listen
