As a Mexican American, I served two in-country tours in Vietnam and Thailand as a Air Force Security Police combat support troop. During those two years I lost twenty-three friends in combat. We were all volunteers of all races. My heart goes out to these three veterans. What they endured my pain and sorrow could never match there's. My heartaches for them and their loss. I came home and became a High School Teacher for At Risk youth and served 35 years.

Wow! Served during a most difficult time. I was post Vietnam Era and joined as a USAF Security Police in my first job and later to be accepted to be an AFOSI Agent. I was very fortunate and blessed to have made my first career based on the road that others paved for us to follow. Thank you Sir and thank you for your service!

There are better ways to represent people. Vietnam war was an immoral war that had nothing to do with our freedom or democracy. That goes for most of these wars. Please educate yourself. Wars only benefit the war profiteers at a cost of lives. They fool the fools and make them think they’re fighting for their country. But that’s far from the truth.

Yes. He had an awesome story. My story is somewhat similar but the Marine Corps didn’t offer assistance in me becoming a citizen. I got out in 89 and finally became a citizen around 2001 if my memory serves me well. Sad but true. A navy veteran (Lester Ewing/Sea Bee) contacted our congressman Ruben Hinojosa who made the process come to fruition.

I’m Mexican, but want to enter the us paratroopers, as cliche as it may be, even if I have never been in the us my grandparents and aunts were able to work, grow and make a beautiful House, not everything was perfect but the USA has given my family so much, the cellphone I am using to type my comment was thanks to my aunt having a good job and being able to send us things and money, part of my education, vacation, experiences came thanks to my family work, dedication and discipline, but also from the opportunity the country gave them.
Someone has to pay the debt, even if it’s in blood, semper Fidelis, i will see you on the other side, fellow future paratroopers.

To Col Gracida Semper Fi sir. I was in the Corps from 73-77. I served under Kenneth J. Houghton went I was on Okinawa. When he was GC 3rd Marine Div. He was a good man and he would drink with his Marines in the ville outside Camp Hansen. It sounds like ,the way you talked about him, he was a good leader in Nam. I was there during the Fall of Saigon at Camp Hansen and through the General's leadership the operation during the Fall of Saigon went as well as it could. Thank you for your service and may you live the rest of your life in peace. N.Catino Cpl USMC.
