Why is this not well known in the US?... I was born in San Luis Potosi and served in the US Marines... This makes me reflect, makes me proud, and sad at the same time.😑
Growing up Mexican American, I always assumed Latinos never did nothing among all these wars simply because all hollywood movies, video games, and history text books portray all American soldiers as white Americans... Hopefully we can shed more light on this. Latinos even participated in the American Revolution under colonial Spain.
Thank you for this video I'm half Mexican and this is the first time I'm learning about my people watching these videos this month, I've grown up so Americanized I know nothing
The Indigenous, Mexican, and Mexican American experiences with a destructive and demeaning Settler Colonialism, and it's arrogant mantra of Manifest Destiny taught us worthwhile lessons about the deeper meaning of a culture in thrall and under the control of an unfriendly Other. I personally experienced segregated school, which existed not to educate but to keep our community in the condition of Cheap Labor. I personally experienced, two years after non-segregated but unfriendly high school what I seriously equate to PTSD. That is a noteworthy part of our social, cultural and political historical experience, and please don't think otherwise.
ALL Americans who fought in our WARS "sacrificed for their countrt", including AMERICAN Italians, Irish, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Native Americans, Japanese, Polish, Swedish, Swiss, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Latinos. WE Won WW2 as a TEAM. There is NO "I"in team.
Ese Ken Burns, go back and include our Raza, I believe Raza received the most medals than any other ethnicity. Very humble heroes, but they came back to the US, ugly discrimination.
You are correct. My raza returned from WW II with more medals per capita than any other participating group. Only to return to the same racist attitudes and a community no better off than when we left it. This sparked another round of what turned out to be very effective organizing.
Thank you for your service Tony, God bless you and yours.
Thank you for making this video and educating us about the contributions of Mexicans.
Thank you, Tony, for your service.
Thank you for touching upon this aspect. Much appreciated
Thank you ❤
