There is a Mexican soldier in the series band of brothers, they are in a foxhole drinking something, he tastes it, spits it out and says “esta madre sabe a pura mierda” or something like that, it warmed my heart to see my people represented in such an amazing series
My Great Grandfather was a Mexican American in WWI and was among the first boots to touch the ground in 1917… they don’t put enough respect on us Chicanos. He fled the Mexican Revolution after his family was executed for helping Emiliano Zapata, he chose instead to become an American. Which led to his enlistment at 14 and deployment at 15 years old… which wasn’t uncommon for underage teens to make it through enlistment and get deployed during those days… makes me glad I grew up almost 100 years after that lol
As a Chicano growing up in Utah, we watched the Vietnam War on the TV throughout the war. I don't ever remember seeing Browns, Blacks, or Asians being interviewed or shown on the news clips. As I remember, most of my older brothers' and uncles' Chicano friends went to Vietnam. Most of the Chicanos from our town went into the military, and you don't even see their names on the street displays when you drive through our hometown.

My late father Joe Rojas served int he US Army in WWI and reenlisted and served in Korea as well. He earned two Battle Stars and an occupation medal for the occupation of Japan. He didn't speak much of if and the stories he did tell were not pleasant. The war in the Pacific was brutal and he lost many friends. My uncle on my mom's side Pablo Rodriquez was one of the first American jet fighter pilots. He served in mig alley in Korea. He told me something I never actually read in history books. I asked him one time if the Korean pilots in mig alley were as good as I read about. He said he wouldn't know because most of the pilots they faced were not Korean. I said what do you mean? He said most of the bodies the recovered were blond haired and blue eyed which meant they were actually facing Russian pilots.
My grandfather was drafted as a 36 year old man and wrote about the Mexican-American Congressional Honor recipients in a book called Among the Valiant.

All of them, in a tiny ag town in ag country.
Also a Chicano(Cali Latino) man helped save many Japanese. He was raised with Japanese Americans and understood Japanese. I joined a little too late I am now 26 going to 27 in February. I’ll be the first Chicano in my family to serve and get an honorable discharge. I am from New York City Queens, yes from where Spider-Man is from I always say this to any other Soldier asking what state I’m from. It makes me happy when you guys laugh. You guys are funny when you say “I love the Mexicans.” I thank America for making my childhood great with Spider-Man figures I still collect them till this day. I’m thankful for my mom she is the real Soldier for never abandoning me and always flying straight, working hard. I guess coming to this country really paid off dear mom. I miss you and haven’t seen you in person since last Christmas. It’s embarrassing to say I didn’t have money to buy my plane ticket to go see you on your birthday. I live paycheck to paycheck. In 10 days I’ll be crying in your arms God willing celebrating Thanksgiving. This world is cruel, why can’t we just all be nice just like in the Army. We all respect each other and will help one another if you just ask. I do not have anything against y’all Americans, trust me shit hits the fan I’ll be ready with you to defend this amazing country. I’m a sharpshooter in my M4 and M17 in the 3rd division. Thank you all for your tax payer money and making my dream of becoming a United States Army Soldier true.
So he was drafted as an American (He was born in America) and some students put a label on him so he doesn't forget that he is not fully American. Sergeant Aguilar contradicted the narrator's version that they were written off. He got along with everyone during WWII. The Sergeant was and is an American. Even Mexicans understand this concept. Ask anyone in Mexico if anyone is considered black, white or Asian-Mexican and they will say no, because they consider everyone in Mexico a Mexican.

Mexicans were the most commemorated soldiers in the world war I love you, and it’s no where or recognition on the American history books. We have given so much and supported the United States of America and they still treat us like a third class citizens, or belittle us.
My grandparents came around the same time and for the same reasons. My uncle who was born in Mexico enlisted in the Army during WW2. He told my grandparents ," if we are going to live in this country I'm going to fight for it"! My uncle was injured in the South Pacific and while on the way home to recover from his injuries the bus he was in stopped at a small restaurant. The owner of the restaurant told him he needed to eat in the kitchen. He was in full uniform and bandaged up and that's how he was treated.

I'm proud of many things, being Puerto Rican and part of the Latino Familia, an American a decent human being and ALL of you, remember dispite the very Bias Media / Hollywood industries and uncaring government its ok for ALL people to be proud of more then one thing in life and that's because WE ALL MATTER!!! GRACIA'S for sharing,,, Gerald 🇵🇷 of Baltimore
Why you fly your Puerto Rican flags in the USA. That's un-American. Shm. I if you're proud to be Puerto Rican Why live in the USA. Smh, all I see is global illegals having their flags hanging on review mirror. Smh
Thank you for your service jefe 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for your service 🫡🪖. Thank you for putting this valuable part of our history together for our people .. we matter together strong.. ❤💯💪🏾💪🏾
My grandfather was drafted as a 36 year old man and wrote about the Mexican-American Congressional Honor recipients in a book called Among the Valiant.
I grew up in a small ag town in California. My next door neighbor, Mr. Savala was a Korean War vet, my high school vice principal, Mr. Macías, Vietnam with PTSD, my schoolmate an friend, Mosqueda, a Ranger in the Gulf War, and his nephew, a Marine in Afghanistan and Iraq, with PTSD. All of them, in a tiny ag town in ag country.
Also a Chicano(Cali Latino) man helped save many Japanese. He was raised with Japanese Americans and understood Japanese. He’d go into villages by himself telling ppl to surrender and nothing would happen to them. He legit saved thousands of children and woman. He should’ve been given a valor medal at least.
Guy Galbadon was his name. His story should be a movie
Doesn't surprise me!!! They're good enough to fight for our country USA..but not to be honored as they should..thank you for your service 🙏 ❤ I have a newspaper about this not honoring Mexican Soldiers .. it shows how they were n are still being disrespected.
Again THANK YOU
GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU WHO SERVED ❤❤❤❤
...man; that woman GRASPS attention !!
😮
Great Journalism !! 👏👏😊🇺🇲
My Grandfather was drafted into and fought in German during WWII. Maybe the country didn't put his name in a book, but I don't care about that. He answered his country's call to battle and returned with honor. That's all.
My father was a Mexican-American, who fought in the Korean War, which is hardly ever mention my uncle fan in the same more and almost lost his life
My Grandfather and his father faught in world War 1 and 2 for this great country of ours. Our country doesn't like to recognize the greatest contribution of Mexican Americans.
Thank you for your service Patrick Aguilar!
I We thank you All ❤️🔥 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡
Godspeed & God Bless Sgt Aguilar 😢
Thanks for serving our country 🇺🇸🇲🇽
That's Amerikkka for you.
That's Mexican Americans, they don't even try to mention Escudron 201 the Aztecan Eagles, and now all of those men are gone with the very last one passing away in 2022.
So much has been left out of history books. When I was in high school there was a paragraph about slavery and that was it.
NOBODY talks about this. This country needs to talk about this and dont forget, we will never forget. Only cowards forget for their gain.
Go Strong Amigos y Amigas i respeto you all 💪🙏
I know I'm late, but my uncle who was from San Antonio served in world war 11 he . My grandfather was also born close to San Antonio in the late 1800s. I'm the 4th generation born in Tx. Yes, I know about discrimination, not only in Tx. We became Christians, and the Lord does not discriminate no one. Praise the Lord!!!
That’s so awesome to hear that your 4th generation !❤. May God in Christ continue blessing your family. My Family comes from Guanajuato Mexico . I am first generation and my son is 2nd ,here in Texas.
The way people are hunting one another now days. It may be a blessing that they could be hard to find in records regarding recognition etc
. For sure though, I apreciate your serblvice!
More than willing to do it again if we had to serve once more
Mi abuelo tiene un corrido se llama José Gómez jefe Cristero de Quqio Jalisco en You Tube 👍🙏
Vietnam we where heavy there Iraq Afghanistan heavy there 2 if we stopped killing each other we would be an unstoppable force
I hope not, war is never the answer...you should know that by now...
Only others see him as a person who was wronged. He doesn't say anything about being wronged by his government. He sees himself as answering the call of duty, nothing else. God bless him.
My hispanic grandfather with beautiful blue eyes fought in WW2 and then his son, my uncle got drafted Vietnam War..sure do miss them
Hell yeah this is great thank you both for his biography very much needed a life that must be told great service!!!
The truth is: Mexico has completely forgotten about the Squadron 201. Nobody talks about them.
No they haven't. What the hell are you talking about? Esquadron 201 is and was an actual REAL squadron from Mexico....
@@TheMad0ne no, that's not true. I'm mexican and nobody mentioned them, no one cares. Neither the history books. And they should be remembered as Hidalgo.
That is completely false! They even have a monument in Mexico City about Esquadron 201. My wife’s uncle was with that squadron in the Philippines he died a few years back and the government recognized and had a memorial service for him. His name is Gilberto de la Rosa Alvarez.
SmelterTown, Texas (La Esmelda) gave up Mexican-Americans to WW II. Great injustice, but these men and women "no se rajaron." Band of Brothers nelgected them, so many medals with the largest amount of medals by a minority. USA! USA! USA!
Wow! Thank you for sharing.
My late father was a WW2 veteran of the European theater. he & the rest protected the freedoms of those who discriminated against them.
What else is new they didn’t even like there ,but we fought for America this happen in Vietnam too
Both grandpas. WW2 and Korean War. They move to Utah from Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico hispanos. It’s like we don’t exist here in Utah, let alone honor Hispanic veterans. Oh and of course…any job they got was “laborers”. Great job putting light on it! 👍🏽
My father was 17 years old when he joined the United States army. He was in a group called CBI. China Burma, India. He was a medic he served his country proudly. He was born in Mexico while, well, his parents were visiting family. My grandmother gave birth to her last son. The next day they came back to the United States as the rest of the family. My Grandparent born in El Paso, Texas . My father serve this country proudly came back to discrimination. Something that never should’ve happened. It breaks my heart, but at the same time it brings joy that finally somebody has taken the initiative to write a wrong and to make it correct. I thank you.❤
Our huge Mexican American family has served proudly in every branch of the US military since WWII. It’s a proud tradition to fight and defend our country. 🇺🇸
And they still want our people out of this country
Thank you for your service sir ❤❤🙏🙏
It’s that Native Blood he Carries. He loved his country.
Respect
My Dad was a Marine in WWII and in the Army in Korea. My uncle was a Army Vet in WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. I had the heartfelt honor of playing 🎺Taps at their funerals, hardest performance I ever did. These are my true Mexican American heroes, another part of the American silent majority 🇺🇲🇺🇲
My grandfather and his brother were drafted in ww2 n got sent different ways. Out of the mining town Metcalf Az. Many Mexican Americans have served n fought in every war since the Civil War also. My great grandfather was a Colonel for the Union Army, he was out of New Mexico.
My pops died at 96 years old upon his return he never understood the treatment he got by whites as he travel throughout the country, like being served a meal behind the restaurant outside. He never understood.
These Mexican American Men and Women who fought for the United States, Were Native Indigenous American People. That is How the European governments treat, treated and will always will treat The People Who God Thee Almighty Creator Put and Gifted this Entire Continent and it's Islands too! Very Sickening and Very True! May God Bless these Veterans and may they Get The Respect and Honor they Should've Gotten and Always Should Get!
Excellent reporting Thnk u👍🏻
I hope you got you work published. Its so important
They will always deny us and our hardwork and dedication.
My Grandfather Jesus Villa fought in Normandy in WW2 recieving a Purple Heart.
Dad was first army division during world war 2, was awarded a bronze medal and silver star, fought in the European and African campaign never talked about it I found out going through their belongings , he and mom passed at the age of 84 and 86 dad contracted gangrene after surgery leg was amputated at the knee , Dr. Said nothing could be done to save him, a Mexican soldier from San Antonio Texas he never complained or had regrets about serving his country, RIP dad love you.
In 25 days I’ll get out the U.S Army. It’s been a great 3 years and 22 weeks but I’m tired of everything in general if you know what I mean, politics, the news, and my military life, I’m not getting any younger.
We need to make movies about this
Thank you Soldier.
It does not matter we are vets that served and it is American history. AMERICAN
Thank you Sir for your service and thank you for your story.
We're still treated poorly
Thank you Mexican and black men were ignored and denied the purple heart as well. Racism at its finest. Thank you for this beautiful story our young men and women need to see and hear this😊. My uncle was a green beret and also won the purple heart. Yet he is not recognized his widow can't even get his veteran benefits even though his daughter was born with defects and he already passed away very sad.
I'm grateful for the wonderful Caucasian whom appreciate the Mexican American contribution to our Nation. Padre God be Praised for his comrades not treating him racially as so many have done so with other Mexican American, Latino, Black, Asian & German American soldiers. Paz be with us all 🙏. "Isa"
This is an amazing story. Thank you for sharing this with us. So proud of all the WWII Veterans and all veterans. Great information to put in our countries history books.
Mexican American and native Americans always left out, you don't hear their stories, but I'm sure thier were alot of heroes god bless y'all and thankyou for your service
My grandfather was a young soldier in WW3 he was stationd in Europe. The war took his peace and gave him a life of pain
Mexicans were the most commemorated soldiers in the world war I love you, and it’s no where or recognition on the American history books. We have given so much and supported the United States of America and they still treat us like a third class citizens, or belittle us.
Jews 6M cubans 2.5M Mexican Americans 45-50M, let’s grab the political respect that we deserve, no more submissiveness.
Earned a Rifleman Sharpshooter and Carbine Expert Badge....Texas Proud. Thank you for your Service Sergeant Aguilar.
beautiful, but why do they keep cutting him off as he speaks, really annoying and disrespectful in a sense.
Gr8 job recognizing this hero 🇺🇸
🇲🇽
Born in a box car and when he was told to fight he fought !
I wonder where the incident happened. Sounds like America.
How chitty is that?? Discrimination is still around these days, but not as obvious. Our country is made up of many races, but we need to work as ONE, if we are going to stay as a respectable nation.
@@pica8039discrimination only if you are a darker complexion …. If you are a white lookin Hispanic they barely even bat an eye smh
My great grandfather served in ww2 and my mothers uncle fought in Korea my grandpa on my dads side served in Vietnam a lot of Mexicans were involved in these wars
Much Respect to our Mexican American Veterans ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you for your service
Thank you for remembering us Mexican Americans and the contributions we gave for our country in times of war , I had a chance to talk in the early 80s with my dad's uncle my great uncle who served during WW1 for the US and proud to do it he still had his uniform when he passed in the late 80s
