America's Deported Veterans: La Frontera

  • There are soldiers and marines that have served the United States even though they were not born in the country. Some of them entered the US by crossing the border illegally, but after being promised citizenship in exchange for their service, they enlisted. Some of them have risked their lives on the front lines in wars like Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. Today they find themselves deported to Mexico after having committed a crime, like cashing checks without funds, shooting a firearm or driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Many suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder after having served the United States on the ground and have, since their deportation, lost the right to receive medical attention.
We went to Tijuana to meet a group of veterans who have been expelled by the U.S. Government. Héctor Barajas, a former paratrooper for the U.S. Army, has seen with his own eyes just how difficult life is for the veterans who have been expelled from their country. After living in Tijuana's El Bordo river canal, he decided to leave his addictions behind and start a shelter for deported veterans. The Bunker, as the site is known, has the capacity to host up to 5 veterans who have been deported to Tijuana.
Hector and another 20 veterans are in Mexico fighting for the U.S. to acknowledge their service, grant them the citizenship that was promised to them when they decided to serve in the Armed Forces and allow them to return to what they consider to be their country. Every month they station themselves at the San Ysidro international border, to expose both Mexicans and Americans to their story.
They are just some of the 2 million Mexicans who have been deported under the Obama Administration.

adie chip The term is called conscription, an yes they know they are illegal. Puerto Rico is our oldest conscription of the USA
NOT completing the contract means you dont get the HONOR of being a veteran and allowed to apply for citizen ship. You break the contract by criminal acts or other violations of the UCMJ your contract is terminated. Many are able to do this with no problems. Working as intended.

    • @PatrickBaptist
      @PatrickBaptist 5 лет назад +14

      It isn't anything personal.
The military has always been controlled by the "deep state", the military serves the state, not the people.
I come from a line of it, my own dad waste 20 years on the army.
It is what it is my friend, I can't stand and be happy much less proud of a group that justifies bombing and murdering innocents and then tells me they are fighting for my freedom this way.
I prefer not to have freedom or life if someone else's child has to be blown or burnt up... This has been going on atleast since WWII, that flag can't hide the shame of this wicked nation.
I pray for those that are in the military that they will repent and be born again, so please don't take me the wrong way I am not the kind to spit or be mean to a person over it.
But I am very blunt about that if the military was serving MY interests in life then they would overtake the gov and stop the laws of this nation that God hates and that has placed the wrath of God against said nation. But as long as this land allows the murder of babies (abortion) to start with, those aren't my laws and I sure cannot support anyone that wants to uphold such laws.....
I will give you this, today's military is worse than ever, just as the people of the land are becoming more and more reprobate.
Most that enlist are just serving the dollar and can't find better pay elsewhere, I'd love for this to be proven as well, all that needs to happen is pay be taken away and I bet the military wouldn't even have 2% of the grunts it does....
I really don't mean to sound rude or mean, I don't know any other way to explain myself by bluntly. And again it isn't anything person, I've got a few friends that are both current and former military, they know my position in life and we just don't bother going there with it usually.
What's sad is how in WWII how freemason troops would be let go by the enemy but those that were not in their occult cult were not let go, that brotherly comradery you guys have, freemasonry is above it and they hold their brother in a higher regard that their enlisted brother in the military. Something most don't realize, one of my friends I grew up with loved the military because of the brotherhood, he wasn't happy to figure out that some of his buddies were not as they seemed....

I'm a veteran, if they served our country (their country now) honorably they should NEVER be deported. They have done much more in service to the United States than many native born Americans who have done nothing at all, who just take and contribute nothing. This is a shame. Who ever made the decision to deport these men should immediately be fired, their names should be made known, and they should be publicly ostracized by the Veteran community, because what they did was dishonorable to these honored men.

According to the law, anyone who is not a United States citizen who breaks the law is sentenced to prison or receives a suspended sentence shall be deported. The vast majority of Republican voters favor and will continue to support measures like these. @mas360 Well all I meant by that was people who actually served on the ground in a combat zone, I don't think random cooks or computer technicians should be granted it instantly.
French Foreign Legion have a thing called "Français par le sang versé" "French by spilled blood"... anybody wounded in service is automatically granted French citizenship.

@mas360 You're thinking of a foreign legion of the past, they run interpol checks and any serious offences make you ineligible. I wasn't comparing a states army to the foreign legion in any sense, I just like the idea of "French of spilled blood". I think if you're willing to make that sacrifice you're more willing than those who squander their birthright.

@mas360 I'm not sure of how saying that people who spill blood in the name of the United States should be granted citizenship is "simple-minded". Takes a special type of person, most people that serve are not criminals nor do they become them. You've watched too many movies.

      Mike Panocatapolis
      1. He wasn't going to get a work permit once serving in the military. He was told he would get a permit to stay in america after serving, which would allow him to work, or study whichever he wanted.
      2. You have to recontinue your permit 2 times. Every 2-3 years not sure. After that you can apply for citizenship.
      3. If you're injured in war you should be taken care of, not lied to and told false dreams. They deported him because it would be easier to deport him then to pay the money for his surgeries. This happens all the time man, my friends story isn't a rare one.

This should not be happening. I a Navy veteran and I consider these gentlemen my fellow warriors. I hope someday that the current presidential administration or another one will rectify this as soon as possible. These men deserve to come back to America and be united with their families. This is B.S. I already emailed the White House gov website about the fast track to citizenship program for servicemembers being discontinued in which it affected both the service status as well as possibly the residency status of other servicemembers/former servicemembers. I hope to God that someone in charge in this country will keep those loyal to this country to actually stay in this country without deportation. This is just plain wrong.

@mas360 mas360 Yes, they committed crimes that warrant punishment, but the thing is that if they had been given their citizenship upon entering the military or immediately after discharge, they would've been sentenced to prison time like any other citizen AND NOT deportation. Deportation is the most devastating punishment one could give these men, and in most cases is excessive for the crime they've committed. Note that most of the vets in the video were brought to the U.S. as children and likely believed that joined the military was a way to "kill 2 birds with 1 stone" by obtaining a career and gaining citizenship simultaneously. They deserve to be called Americans.

I’m sure there are men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice that would have just as quickly been tossed aside after their service had they survived. That is infuriating. The peace maker That's because you don't know the other side! Think people just decide to come to the US illegally only to find work or piss off Americans? Thank NAFTA, drugs, human trafficking, jobs promising to pay for legal fees only to deport you when they're done with you. The system is bullshit! No line exist. Funny how so many talk about terrorist coming over to the US illegally yet all the attacks came from people that immigrated legally. They have the funds as you may know and with money you can skip that imaginary line and jump ahead. It's all politics. They simply demonize undocumented immigrants to get your vote, your money, your attention away from their failing policy or greed.

    • @iPlayWithFireYT

The peace maker BTW look into Americans that have been wrongfully deported. Also the Marine that was killed in combat a legal US citizen but his mother was not and they wanted to deport her. That's not the only story thousands are out there. Now you can't just join the military if you're undocumented but the military does look for ways around that. What I like was how the Marines protected her because he was a brother and to them this was also their mother. So honorable when they stand together.

But, what violence, drug trafficking should land you about 3 years in jail, and if you do twice more, then you land yourself 20 years in jail, that is what is should be anyway. Drunk driving, again, land you a couple years in jail, only if you are a veteran, if you're not a veteran and you do this stuff, then there is no proof of your loyalty to the country, thus, you get deported, enlisting in the military should be like a lifeline if you commit a crime and you were in the military, then you should only go to jail, not be deported.

This whole system is so messed up. First off it seems kind of dangerous to an extent to have anyone in your military that is not already a citizen be it by birth or naturalized. Secondly I perfectly can understand wanting to reunite with family on the other side of the border but if you serve a nation and then that nation tosses you out like the US did with these guys its obvious that the government doesn't care about you. So realistically what chance do you really think there is that this government will ever honor you or want you back?
The Veteran who was in charge of the shelter said it best I think when he said that Mexico shouldn't even be taking these guys back because in a sense they had to renounce their Mexican citizenship to join the US military. In a lot of places this would be seen as a crime or even treason yet Mexico with all of its faults in this case is giving these guys an opportunity they might not have if they were being deported elsewhere.

Vicente E or seti, sofa or bed. Those hillbilly whites should either be repatriated to the lands of their ancestors or exiled to Siberia or Timbuktu.

I just don't understand the VALUE. Shaking my head when you can honor " The unknown soldier" VS. not honoring soldiers who served, fought, and are still alive deported to other countries. Think about it!

I am a vet and even if these folks didn't fulfill the obligation of the military contract for citizenship, deporting them should be for only used as a last resort for murderers, rapists or drug lords. They had the willingness to fight for the United States and they should be rewarded by being American not upon contract completion but by signing the dotted line and finishing boot camp.

This breaks my heart because I'm too chicken, they went out there, risked their lives. I understand that some committed crimes but why? Why did the feel the need to do so?
Because our country does not take care of our vets! financially or give them the proper help so the can re-join society. It baffles me that after seeing so much death how can they ever go back to just being normal... I think that's why they end up making bad choices

I need to stop watching these because all I do is cry!
I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING!!!!! I CANT!!!!! These soldiers gave of themselves to our country, THEIR country and this is how they are treated!!!!! That's not right!
People say We are better than this! BUT that statement isnt true! It's more like 'We KNOW better than this' because we don't always act like we do.
I REALLY hope these soldiers get back HOME to America. America is THEIR home! Actions speak louder than words, and from what was done to these soldiers SPEAKS volumes of how America feels about the men and women who gave their lives.
We need to REALLY be careful of how we treat your troops. Because one of these days, the troops will get tired of this treatment and not want to defend our country! Then what?????
    BRING HOME OUR TROOPS!!!!! ❤🙏
