The latest generation of the Mercedes M-Class was introduced in late 2011 as Mercedes lifted its game against rivals that have emerged in the decade since it spawned this segment: the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and BMW X5. The M-Class is nearly four-metres long and has a massive load area, regardless of which of model you choose. The ML 250 starts the range with a 202bhp 2.1-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel, then there's the volume-selling ML 350 with its 255bhp V6 turbodiesel. If it's power you're after rather than efficiency, there's the ML 63 AMG complete with 518bhp 5.5-litre twin turbo V8 -- the most powerful Mercedes 4x4 ever sold. All offer luxurious equipment levels, fit and finish as well as an imposing road presence.

what mpg are you getting on average?
I had a chance to drive newer cars from 2016,2018,2017 etc. But no one of these could compare to 2012 ML AMG. Fastest SUV I've driven so far.
Is it that fast
This car is amazing, all the ml and gle cars are, especially for tall boys like myself. I am 6'3 and have size 15 feet, wich normally makes it impossible to climb in and sit comfortably, but the ml and gle have enough space for even me at the back and front seats.
Test driven the 350 Diesel and the Range Rover Sport SDV6 and imo although we went to the Range Rover Sport, it was a very close call either way. The Mercedes seemed a little more engaging and handled more like a car but the Range Rover seemed more refined in the comfort sector. Off-road the ML actually performs very well as Matt said, probably pretty close to the RRS when the Air-suspension / off-road pack is added to the ML.
again i loved the effects/ cuts, they were awesome!
Amazing car and technology! Only thing lacking against the Audi Q7 and BMW X5 is no 7 seat option, but the larger GL is aimed for that segment and more expensive!

Quick question. In Denmark, where I live, you can get this car, and any other pretty much, as vans. Now I realize this is also possible in the UK, but are the number plates a different color on vans? In Denmark the plates are normally white, but on vans they are yellow.

Yeah the badge is ML but it is known as the M-Class for short., the title is correct. I work at a Mercedes dealership, so yeah...
Then maybe you can answer me this - why do Mercedes badges no longer correspond to engine size? They used to in the past but it all changed around 2006. Why?

i get what you mean, although not really about the space thing, i haven't found a difference in rear space in a bmw x5 compared to a 5 series estate and an audi 17 compared to an audi a6 avant and I'm average height, the family 4x4s are decent off road but are never used off road which is sad in a way
The interior is so incredibly aged for a 2013 car. The dash has been seen in numerous other mercs,and the screen is tiny, and low res. I sat in one at the car dealership, and I wish the interior was better, as its the biggest weakness. Additionally, I never liked Comand, and that is a big purchasing point for me.

Any body have an idea about these Diesel engines if they have problems with them?
The old X5 was better looking than the then M class. This is now better looking than the current X5.
I think the X5 awlays looked super cool, this Benz is so classy and nice. If you get the diesel the MPG is like 28mpg! Its fantastic, only like 49$ to gas up, on a SUV thats damn good!

have you seen the price of fuel in the UK? It doesn't make financial sense in the UK to have a petrol engine in a car that size unless you have more money than sense.
If that's what they think is the best thing to recommend they should, and then if that doesn't apply to you then it doesn't harm you, just because you don't have to consider the options some people do.
I don't really care for the car, but love the reviews! :)

Mercedes could have just simply direct the air coming out of the vents to the cup holder, in the winter we use heat, so the drink stays warm. Oppositely in summer we turn the a/c on so the drink gets chilled as well

I work at Mercedes and it looks better in reality than in any video, I see this car every day. Yes, the design (rear headlights) isnt everybodys taste but thats the only downside to this car (atleast for me).

You sound like Jeremy Clarkson! The problem in the UK is fuel costs around $12 a gallon so unless you own BP, a massive petrol engine is out of the question even though I love the sound of a roaring v8.

The clapping is allmost true. Now you can just pull some small levers in the boot, and the seats fall down
the storage and cupboard are very similar to the X5

Amazing, there are a lot of even 2009's in my country still driving around. The diesel engine is made to last and drive fast

Theres an awesome video on here where a Mercedes Alabama plant mgr drives some German guys around a crazy offroad track in the standard ml350...lets just say its VERY capable offroad 😅
2023 now , would people still recomend a 2012 ML350 ?? Looking at purchasing one very soon.
