2013-2015 ML350 is also an absolute buy. Rock solid, no major issues, great 300hp little V6, no electrical problems, no air suspension. Very reliable and nice modern machines. Same for the 2013-2015 GLK350.
Compared to BMW X5 its a grandma s car with cheap ugly interior. And its not reliable , they loose value like crazy .
I love the GLK but with 2 growing boys we need the space.
@@rachelgreen1368 X5 is just a big problem 😂
@CrazyUncleChris I'm in the same boat. Currently convincing my wife to trade it for an ML. So much nicer and more room.
ml350 of that year has an air suspension standard
I took your advice and I also got one - 2010 ML350 with 1 owner Red with Tan interior and 63K miles on it - We love it - we thank you for the advice

Congratulations!
Good man Uncle Chris. Great find. Am quite partial to the ML too. Enjoy your new car.
Best of luck to you guys !
It's always refreshing and heart warming to see a lovely couple like this.
Two thumbs up ! And best wishes to both of them.

A lovely NORMAL couple, too. Not some young rich hot perfect fake couple you know will be divorced in two years. I like this guy, he's a true gentleman.

2009 ML350. Bought in 2010 with 28000 miles. 12 years later 270000 miles. Only ONE major repair ( Intake Mani) Exchanged Alternator and Thermostat myself. As seen in the video, very easy to access for exchange. Great Video Wizzard. Love it.
My 2006 ml350 is at 192k I got lucky and don't have balance shaft problems how I had to replace steering rack, struts and intake manifold but the car is a tank

My 09 , 190k. Won’t pass emissions…check engine light on for 30k…with new Michelins, driving pretty well
We have a 2014 GL350 BlueTec Turbo Diesel. 7 seater, incredible interior. Absolutely Love it. 171K miles, incredible suv. 600 miles per tank and drives like new. Forever car.
Hey wizard! I am picking up a 2011 ML350 today. One owner since new, ex military mechanic and he has kept this up meticulously. New tires, all flushes flushed and redone to MB specs, transmission service today, all new belts. It has 155,000 miles but all service records available and my car broker that I buy from has known this car since new as this was from his neighbor. Glad you approve of these. Love the content.
Hello, I am also looking at the same car with 155K miles. What price do you think would be good for a 2011 ML350 with 155K miles? Thank you, I would appreciate your feedback.
I paid 7k for my 2011 ML350(Gas model) with 154k August 25, 2023. I later found out the dealer bought it through auction for 4k and listed it for 7k. I had to spend about 4k in maintenance but its a pretty solid car so far. I hope I don't have to spend too much more any time soon. I wish I could've found it at auction for 4k lol. It was a 2 owner with all dealer service records@@mikecruz9226
I inherited my mom's ML350, solid & reliable (for a low mileage '07, no balance shaft issues ever). Congratulations to the lucky couple, such a kind gift.♥️🙏
Balance shaft issues was from 2008ni beleive
I have an 09 Mercedes ML350 bought it used in 2014 still driving it today. It’s a very reliable car. It’s a tank. I currently have 204k miles and still going.
I’m original owner of mine…190k miles, still cruising.. knock
on wood…check engine light on last 29k miles😎
I've had five MLs and GLEs from 2014 - up. 350s, 43s, and a 63S. Never a single problem. Rock solid.
I have a 2010 ML350, I purchased it with 88k on it in 2015, it has 174k on it today. This vehicle has been rock solid and very reliable, just regular maintenance. I also own a 2013 E350 4matic and I love it !
Mercedes are reliable cars
I also have a 13 E350 4matic (wagon) and I absolutely love it. It's almost at 190k now. I had to replace the front u-joint (driveshaft, actually) a few years ago. Otherwise it's been fantastic.
I have 2010 4 matic as well with about 108k on the odo. I paid almost nothing for it and it's extremely solid and reliable.
I have a 2009 ML320 with over 350000 km (roughly 220000 miles) on it. Still very luxurious, however the torque converter is starting to have issues.
nice I have a 2008 ML350 I got in 2014 at 85k and it now has 149k. No huge issues, never left me stranded. Just some decently pricey repairs over the years. $1k here and there due to aging parts.
I can attest to the timing belt on the 2007-09, I’ve had to replace mine.
My biggest issue with these models is the gas mileage is so terrible, you’d think I was driving a performance V8. I get like 13-17 usually depending on the day and traffic. That’s been my one complaint, otherwise I love it
i've had my '08 ml 350 for a year & a half now & i absolutely adore her. over 200k miles on her now & she drives like new & has been exponentially more reliable than the '09 camry i had for years before i stepped up to a benz
Thanks for sharing this video, for me I will advise anyone, any day to get this. I never regretted buying it, haven't been faulty. Am glad watching this video so happy i made the right choices. I'm getting my Maybach soon paid in cash!

I have this exact same car, same color and everything. Making my last payment on it in 2 weeks. Purchased used in 2017 with 70k miles and have NEVER had an issue with it in 5 years. It’s truly a great vehicle!
Would u pay 4500 for one with 190kmiles?
I have had my 2011 ML350 for the past 8 years. Bought it used. I bought myself a 2019 Jeep Wrangler and gave the ML350 to my daughter. It now has 205K miles. Runs great. I have done all the maintenance on it to include an oil cooler gasket replace due to a small leak. Solid car. I decided a couple years ago to replace the front control arms, ball joints and shocks. I have a 2010 ML350 4matic that I primarily use for road tripping on ski trips and towing my motorcycles. It's comfortable and quiet really easy to log miles in. It's also a reliable, good looking and capable vehicle that's perfect for long trips, minus one thing...the gas mileage is average at best.
My mom had the same exact one; she bought new in 2011 ML350 white with black interior.. she loved it never broke down nor any problems.
I bought a 2011 4 1/2 years ago with 98 K miles, all I do is change oil. It is a wonderful, comfortable car and at 16K then with new tires, brakes, front struts, ,an incredible deal. not the fastest car but adequate for such a heavy suv
We have been driving exactly the same car since 2016. Bought it at 100k miles, now it has 200k miles. Not a single problem. This is our third ML class. They just run forever.

People stay away from M272 engine from 2004-2008 due to balance shaft gear failure. Unless the previous owner updated it at the dealership.
The early V8's were also affected. (2006-2008)
He mentioned that this is a 2011. So they're pretty much safe in that regard.
Dude!!!!!!! That issue was sooooooo bad!
@@leppie, I did not know that. The 4.7 twin turbo 550 cars had timing chain tensioner issues and some other things.
True this one is well outside of the range, I had a 2007 C280 M272 that was outside of the range.
Congrats to the nice couple for the wonderful Merc! The honest and friendly Wiz always shining! Stay safe!
I have a 08' Ml320 CDI around the same year and I love it, its built solid. 220k miles and climbing!

I thought I would add I have owned 5e class Mercedes and every one of them have been perfectly reliable Brakes and Tires and two of them when I got rid of them had almost 200,000 miles on them with zero problems. I think it is the best value in the Mercedes lineup. I have a Porsche Panamera now which is a different animal. It is 2 years old with 70,000 miles so far it's been good we shall see.
I sure wish I could find a wife or girlfriend like her who appreciates a good guy
I've got a 2005 ML350 Special Edition and three years into ownership, I have to say it is still one of the nicest cars I've ever driven and has been flawlessly reliable and safe. It has amazing braking ability (AWD helps) which saved my life when a man tried to jaywalk in the rain and changed his mind halfway 😮
I bought my 2009 ML350 in 2018 for 7K with 159K miles. Now it has 209k miles. It has its basic wear and tear but I love it and it’s still going strong in 2023. Also the interior of my 2009 is exactly the same as the 2011 here.
Great video! Just bought the wife a 2015 ML350 with only 51k miles and all pristine maintenance records. Had it shipped from GA to NC. What a fantastic vehicle.
Hello, just got my 2015 ML 350 with 45k on it in SC...love it! Had a 2003 ML 350 with 217k on it so upgraded...nicest SUV I have ever owned..my favorite feature is the automatic rear door..when coming out of a grocery store with a cart full of bags its so nice to be able to open from my key fob..but yea I agree they are beautiful SUVs..and 2015 was the last year of the ML so we are lucky..take care.😊
@@chrishendricks4613 I think the 2015 is pretty much the same vehicle, they just changed the badging of all MB's and the ML to GLE.
My family has had a 2006 ML350 for 10+ years and honestly, it’s been wonderful. We got it CPO in 2010 and I’m not too sure if it got the balance shaft service done, but it’s got 154k miles and we haven’t had to do it so I think it’s been done. Most expensive thing to go was the electronic ignition, which was about 2 grand and had to be fixed by the dealer (thanks to security lockups.)
I love driving it, and we’re gonna keep it for a LOOOOONG time. Love our ML350. So much so to where I’d buy another.
I would say more than likely it has had the Balance shaft repair at 154K it would have failed by now.
Hey wizard, the car care nut channel uploaded a video yesterday about a Lexus Rx350 that has an oil leak ! He mentioned you in his video about the rav4 that you guys couldn't figure out the oil leak! It's worth watching! He said it is the front timing cover . I figured I mention this in case the customer comes back 🤓
The car wizard can’t know everything?! CCN specializes in Toyota, I wonder if wizard will see that rav4 again and fix it now that he is armed with more knowledge
Wizard is perfect and infallible. Nonpossible way he is wrong. Ever.

What a great guy nice to see someone love their partner so much
I agree, the shocks are not only probamatic, but expensive to replace! The pump cost is outragious! The engines with the ballance shaft issues is also costly to replace! The break system he had mentioned is also expensive to replace components! This model is the best choice for any one wanting to own a Mercedes Bens SUV with outstanding reasonable repair cost. Especially with 6 cyl. and all wheel drive!
I own a 2015 ML350 4Matic with only 53,000 miles and -- Just had to drop $3000 on multiple repairs and maintenance costs plus $500 shipping since there was an issue with the fuel system (and the closest dealership is 100 miles away), and that was after the extended warranty I bought covered $1200 in repair costs. Two oil leaks (one top and one bottom of engine), fuel system software update, spark plug replacement, transmission flush, B service.
Some previous items that were repaired under Certified Pre-owned Extended Warranty in the past were:
The driver's seat cover came apart underneath at the front (took them months to fix that since the seat cover had to be sourced from Germany). Plus I had to take it to a different dealership to get it put on correctly, since part of the seat heating element was sticking out of the front.
The driver's side seat massage mechanism broke internally and was pushing out against the back seat cushion.
The passenger side rear coil spring broke in half.
The rear door locking mechanisms glitched and decided that they would show locked, but the doors would actually be able to be opened, which would then set off the alarm.
And the infotainment system started acting up and had to be replaced.
Also, an out-of-pocket repair -- The driver's side seat belt mechanism stopped working and had to be replaced ($1200). And these are the ones just off the top of my head.
Be advised, if you buy a used one, be very prepared for some expensive repair costs unless you can work on it yourself (or live close to the Wizard's shop).
You took a 8 yr old vehicle to a dealership! You don't need to be giving ANY advice.
2011 was the last year of the W164, so yeah, the 2015 could’ve gotten more high-tech
@@adamharris2674 My extended warranty only applies if I take the vehicle to a dealership.
Also, the only place locally that will work on a Mercedes charges almost as much as a dealership does, and couldn't diagnose the fuel system issue, anyway.
Why be so nasty?
@@ripvanwinkle9648 So wait; You have an extended warranty but still had to pay many thousands for all that work? Sorry if I sound nasty but sumpthin dont sound rite..
I have this car too! Bought it in 2017 with only 33,000 miles and was a lease so very well taken care of. Just recently the check engine light came on. The computer system said it was the sensors so replaced which people don’t realize Everytime you take this car in they have to run it thru their system which alone just cost $150. Kept on happening and figured there was a major electrical problem. $10,000 to fix or possibly more. Trading it in and moving on. It drives like a dream but just too expensive if anything happens. Stay away if you don’t want to spend thousands on repairs!!!!
I love/have older MB's. They are cheap to fix, when you're driving them, they are whisper quiet, have luxurious interiors, and make you look & feel like a million bucks for cheap. Great Choice!
Hi, Mrs. Wizard! That slot in between cupholders is for a parking pass and/or rfid pass for entrance into a parking garage
Nice! Thanks!
Wizard, what I especially like is your calm unhurried inspection of a vehicle along with your conversational narrative. Really like it. Hooked for sure.
I had a 2008 ML550 since new and put 130,000 miles on it. It was a great vehicle. It develop some small oil leaks on the rear main seal at around 120,000K. Tumble flap at 2500 miles had to be replaced under warranty and that was all the problems I had. With the V8 it was pretty darn quick.
Made me love merc SUVs
What was it’s towing capacity…, if you know…?
I’d like to ditch my 4Runner for a V8 powered rig for improved towing. And I am already familiar with Mercedes as my daily driver is a210 E55.
@@actionfaction2558 I can not recall the rating of the towing. I towed 3500 lbs with it a few times and never even felt as if anything was behind it.

Still looks modern for 2011, 11 years old. My friend bought a 2012 Ml. $1500 turn signal electric problem. Gas fume problems $3000 repairs. Parts and labor do not depreciate.
Thanks for restoring confidence in my recent purchase of a 2012 ML350. It has 147k on it and I only had to replace the alternative battery and FOB key battery.

Always like hearing when a person gets to negotiate a "deal" for themselves. So basically, going to Nebraska (and back) Chris saved about $18 per mile driven for the Mercedes. That's per mile. Very good. Nice vehicle! With the V-6 plenty of room to work on the engine even. Though hopefully you won't have to. lol.
I saw a super clean ML350 4-matic at the self serve junkyard recent;y. It was a California car with zero rust. Paint was as clear and shiny as could be. Interior was mint and still had the Merc/new car smell. And yet, there it was because it was too expensive to replace parts or it was too complex to put labor into changing a $5 gasket.
Just got the same identical 2011 Mercedes Ml and mine is all black inside. I paid $13000 with 110,000 miles. Not a single rust mark and was garage kept all maintenance kept up and well maintained. Got to say my engine bay looks 8x better and looks new! But congrats on this guys purchase!

I had an 07 e350 4 matic sport package. Great car. In 6 year and 70,000 miles. Only had to replace tires and breaks. Just Routine maintenance
This reminds me of me buying a car for my fiance as well.
Her Chevy Cavalier was on its last legs - served her remarkably well for many, many years - so I decided to surprise her.
Got her a 2011 BMW 328ix Touring (station wagon).
Took the car to Europe for a while (instead of renting), drove around there, then put it back in the container on a ship heading to Montreal, Quebec.
Just got it back from the body shop after it got rear-ended by a texting driver.
Not cheap to maintain or fix, but it is a lvely car, and she loves it.
08 merc ml350 200,000 miles got it a month ago so far blew a fuse jumpstarting it and it has a bad battery starts well though and has an impeccable maintenance record mom had an 09, 177,000 miles no problems except for a sparkplug these cars truly are beasts
The 2006-2012 ML-Class has a brake recall. The power booster is subject to excessive corrosion hidden by shroud that can result in loss of power brakes. I know this since I received the recall for my 2010 ML350. Since there are no replacement parts presently, all the dealership does is a periodic vacuum leak test and tell the owner not to drive it if it fails.
Tell your dealer to check availability again, I work for a benz dealer in Canada and they just started getting stock a coule weeks ago. The dealer has to submit a pac workbench case through the parts department with the vin for the vehicle and tips case from the tech in order to have one brought it.
@@blairwilliams136 Thanks for the good news Blair.

My 2011 ML350 4matic just crossed 155k miles and I love it. Absolutely rock solid and so good to drive. Perfect blend of modern tech and reliability. Naturally aspirated engine, V6, 4 wheel drive, and still so comfortable to drive. I get compliments on it all the time still and people think it's a much newer Benz than it actually is. Best part too is it's SAFE. These cars are full of safety features and I am fully confident I would walk away from almost any incident. For anyone thinking about a Benz SUV, it's the best one you can buy for the money.
fancy car go zyoom
The ML350 is an extremely safe vehicle with great ability to avoid accidents with its handling. My wife and I got t-boned with both vehicles travelling at 55 mph.
Thankfully, all passengers were able to walk away with minor injuries.
@@ronwinkles2601 That's great to know. Sorry to hear about the accident, I hope you are both ok in the aftermath. I know mentally it can be damaging too. Good to know the car stood up to the standard and kept you both safe!
9:17 I was mind blown and thought he would pull a ring 😂
Ive learned my lesson from German cars, would never own one outside of warranty again. Over engineered and basic repairs are expensive. There’s a reason people let them go for so cheap.
But some people seem to have good luck with them, they sure do look and drive nice. Hopefully they enjoy it! They seem like really nice people.
It depends on which German car are you talking about and what year and what model. Did your research you can usually do pretty well with these.
Great video! Just bought a 2008 ML. I lived in Florida and the previous owner was likely an old snowbird. Thing only has 50k miles on it and looks like it’s never been driven off the lot. Previous owner states to the dealership they never drove it in the rain… and it looks it! Such a solid and nice vehicle!
Love my older 2009 ML 280cdi had 6 yrs here in Sydney Aus..Only be careful of WATER possibly getting in to the rear SAM MODULE near light cluster..can be very expensive even reproggramming a second hand one can be over 1000 US..its on floor and water pools in it even the wiring other side on floor can get wet too. ALWAYS CHECK AFTER RAINS..I lifted wires up of floor so NO water got near it after heavy rains by pulling out plastic covers to check them...So can be possible leaks there.
Also HP Fuel pump can go rebuild kits available here in Oz..Apart from that VERY, VERY reliable.
Well said, I have a 2008 ml320cdi, unfortunately suffering from oil and coolant leaks 4K aud. Over a year and not very happy 😢
Bought a ML350 Special Edition in 2005. Still going strong 18 years later with 148,000 miles. Excellent in London in the Winter and France in the Summer.
It certainly pays to do the research. I used Consumer's Reports and they basically agreed with the Wizard. Ended up going with a 2013 E350. Three years and only oil changes and maintenance items. Best years for the W212 were 2012 and 2013. Go with the facelift (2014) and the reliability ratings were lower, so I avoided that.
Hey mate.
What do you think about 2013 ML GLE 350 4matic? I am about to buy it but I don't know if air suspension or AWD is a problem, or the V6 or the 7 speed gearbox.
It is driven for 222k km (maybe 170,000 miles).
My mother has a 2009 and no real major issues. The most expensive fix thus far is the tailgate motor.
Nice review on this ML, I am sure it's a very solid SUV. I want to question Chris about where he thought the vehicle is selling at $18-23k. I did a nationwide search for the 2010 ML350 with under 125k miles and most of them are right at where he paid.
My guess is he’s probably comparing it to V8 or some sort of AMG whatever. No way is a 12 year old Mercedes SUV half of what it was when it was new. Even with this insane market
I came to this video to write the same comment. I just did the same search but kept it closer to the middle of the US, like he said. I found many listings for this vehicle (same year and configuration), with +/- the same miles, for about the same price. Difficult to tell without seeing the physical vehicles if they are the same or similar condition but $18K to $23K? Nope.
Nice to see happy people who listen to the professionals. And that's why they are happy now.
I took your advice less than two weeks ago. I was doing a CarFAX search for Buick LeSabres but none were available in my area. I expanded my search to the Buick Lucerne and Chevy Impala (really wanted a 2010-11 Impala LTZ with the 3.9L V6), eventually settling on a 2007 Buick Lucerne. Even though the Lucerne wasn't on your Buick "buy this not that" list I made sure to buy one that had the 3.8L Gen III V6 and a completely clean CarFAX. Had to replace a brake line that rusted through right after we got it home from the dealership, and I had my mechanic shop give it an inspection at the same time. They said the shocks in the back were going to need replacement at some point fairly soon, but everything else looked OK.
Everything BUT the 3800 will break on the Lucerne. Should have held out for a LeSabre.
Took my 07’ Grand Prix with the same motor up to 230k before the trans went, had that replaced and went to 354k miles before I sold the car to a guy for his sons first car, and I’ve still seen it driving around on the road to this day.
Watch the transmission on that car like a Hawk, DO NOT touch it/service it if it has never been serviced before, as doing so CAN cause it to fail. When it goes (not if, when), replace it with another transmission and enjoy the next 100k+ miles in peace.
It was a pleasure meeting you this past Friday!! And it was really cool getting to take a peek inside your shop.. Keep up the great videos!!!
this ML is extremely good in snow like a tank.. I have Porsche SUV it’s nightmare in snow even it’s got AWD ….The bad part about ML is reliability/corrosion…i got rid of it..
Wizard is the jack of all trades keeping relationships in tact as well as your ride what a guy
I know what kind of Mercedes SUV to buy. A Lexus RX350. LOL Had mine for 5 1/2 years and it's so awesome!!
Lol and off topic bro as far as vehicle size types and I own a 2006 Lexus LS430 which many call or mistaken for a Mercedes as I correct them no it’s a Lexus 😍 I’m never getting rid of mines bro 💎😍🥰😎🤝
@@theodoreyoung8777You should be thankful your toyota got a compliment like that .
Careful wizard, these were known for lower tailgate/spare wheel well water leaks which would fry the SAM, liftgate pump, and other electrical. Happened on my X164. It is a known issue.
Wasn't a recall issued for that ? Not for X164 but for W164
Hey :) This removable part in cup holder also allows you to place mugs there if you remove it. Kind regards
Have a 2012 ML350 with nearing 200k miles. It’s been a great daily
I love my GL450 v8. It’s a bit tricky to work on but otherwise amazing SUV
Great video. Love seeing people take care of each other and be appreciative of one another!
Another great video , the wizard is a fantastic guy. Down to earth and overall just a great guy. Really enjoy your Chanel 😊
2012 ML350 here. 145,000 miles now and not a single major problem yet. Pulls my boat great on highway. Not so pricey for regular maintenance at independent service shops.
