Most definitely! Out of all the YT videos I've tried to learn anything from, he has explained, slowed down, went back and the main thing to me, says I dont expect you to get it on the first try or in a five minute video. I love him! He has made me stay with it and made me feel excited to stick with it.
You know a guitar teacher is good when he shows you how to play a song, and you don't care much for the song, but yet still want to learn how to play the song anyway. Great job Shane👍
What kind of weirdo doesn't care about the Joker bu Steve Miller? This has to be one of the most universally loved songs of the 20th century. Its 50 years old and you can play it at a high school party TODAY and all the kids will start singing it.
I've followed many YT 'teachers', and can say that this 'slow' instruction had me playing this song quickly. The slow speed made all the difference. Great job! Thanks.
My man! Thank you so much! Your videos are great. You are such a good teacher. I can never think of songs to learn but you have great ideas of cool songs to learn
I appreciate this video. Most of the videos out there are in “G”... which makes it easy to play the single note riffs, but impossible to sing for the average guy. Going to “E” (albeit capo II) makes much easier to sing.
🇨🇦 An excellent lesson as usual! Thanks for taking the time to make such a detailed lesson! 🇨🇦 It’s strumming hand and fretting hand, not right or left hand.
Nice lesson, but: this song is actually in the key of F. Steve Miller tunes his guitar down a whole step and plays the classic open G C and D chord shapes. There are at least a couple of RUclips videos of him doing this with just an acoustic guitar. Having a capo on the first fret and then playing as you show in this video would have it in the recorded key, and show a method of playing it without tuning the guitar down.
Ahhh! Poor fella! He specifically asked for a like- 20,000+ views, 748 'likes'. What more can he do- great tutes, downloadable song sheets, good sense of humour, and (so many) people can't even drop him a like! ;-(
Thanks Jim - a good holiday indeed. Fun to be back at it refreshed. Thanks for the Instagram reminder....so many ways to communicate in this day and age. Shane
Yes I typically do them in one take...unless I have a coughing/sneezing fit or say something completely incorrectly then I might stop and start again. Cheers! Shane
Great question - on the video mentioned below by Brett he has tuned the guitar down a full step - my guess is he likes to do that when playing it solo. But - the full band version is in the key we did it in in the video I posted. Hope you have fun with it! Shane
Hi Brett - great version for sure. He has tuned the guitar down a full step to play it solo - use a capo on 2 if playing the full band version like in my video. Cheers! Shane
I like your version a lot :) Laying in the base line and then strumming the full cowboy chords on the 2nd capo really gives the song a wider dynamic range making it much more interesting to listen too. Thank for your lessons and I look forward to your lessons all the time.. Good job
I really like this instructor. His style of communicating, his passion, and his easy neighbor-next-door vibes make him great to learn from.
Agree! passion is valuable !
Thanks Eddie - really appreciated your comment - happy to have you here with us!
Shane
He has gotten me interested in actually learning from RUclips instead of just playing the same stuff all the time.

If you wanna play it like steve miller, tune down one whole step and play it in G-C-D.

Hi
I really like your breakdown of the songs! Would it be possible to play the whole song first then move on to the breakdown?
Thank you Andre - great suggestion. Cheers, Shane

Shane
Isn't it more simple to have them play g and c and D chords with a hammer on while playing c? Also as far as I'm aware it's also tuned down a step
Thank you!
Thanks Ken - hope you're doing well with it,

Did Steve Miller actually use a capo to play this song?
No he didn't check out "The Bob rivers show steve millar plays the joker" it's good
