I noticed over time being raised with cats and kittens...I believe adult cats do not sense kittens as a threat so they are more acceptable to their friendship ❤️

Me and my girl had an adult cat, he wasn't really into getting along with the little ones. You are definitely right, I don't feel like he did sense them as a threat, but also not as new friends. There is just cats they want their goddamn peace😂

Maybe he saw that it was a kitten, not a threat to him and was a softie, so he took a liking to the young one. It's good he found a friend, and whenever you're not at home, he has his buddy. :) Nice cat mother. She's proud of her Garfield. :)
I have a story of my cats, 2-3 cat that I currently live with and it’s between the oldest cat and youngest cat. So many years ago back before the youngest cat was born, we moved to a place with a bunch of feral cats, like we wouldn’t see the same cats but always spotted a cat each week.
We had two cats at the time then we saw a lonely male, who knew humans and had really old collar, I was actually the one that befriended him first, he kept comfortable us as main food source and we ended up fostering him for years. Every time we tried to give him to a shelter, he would either disappear or give someone the eyes, so for many years it was an endless cycle.
A year after he became a foster of ours, we had gotten a kitten that was a runt of their litter, this cat bonded to this kitten and basically taught the kitten many things, how to clean, how to behave, how to use the litter box, and etc. it was so cute and they end up in a fluff pile, whenever they’re inside.
Oldest - 12-13 years old
Middle - 10-11 years old
Youngest - 6-7 years old
(We originally gotten the kitten, as a replacement companion for the third cat that I barely briefed over above, however this cat has shut down from companionship, since the death of their original companion; 7-8 years ago. Barely tolerates the oldest and youngest. We do plan on having the youngest and oldest become barn cats in the future, with the third cat becoming a house cat.
The middle/third cat, was my cat until their companion cat passed away, since they associated their companion to me, they have stuck themselves to the others in the household, they became really scared of the night so we decided to turn them into a house cat. Their companion died outside at night and the third cat was outside with them, when it happened and has become very fearful of the night and owls. However do fine outside during the day time.)

My cat "Minouche" when he was a kitten had "panda" a 4yo mainecoon male friend , the kitten was the king the boss and the big mainecoon very gentle never never angry about ^^ they was the best friends i have some photos/videos when panda clean minouche or sleepin together :)

Buddy gives up his care free and outdoor life for his brother...it so adorable...

@@daisycocoa2557 it wasn’t a stray. It was a neighborhood cat. There were several other cats in the video, you think they were all strays? No. I always see neighborhood cats in my community and they all belong to somebody. Some of them have even came to my house. Their just outdoor cats that go outside and come back later. My cat is an outdoor/indoor cat himself , one time he was gone for 5 days, but he came back. He always goes to the neighbors houses to play or hide under their houses but he always comes back home. My cat has been an outdoor/indoor cat for 11 yrs, he’s never been hit by a car.
@Debra Van I am in no way judging you or your opinion however as a animal care professional I believe that our pets are like children, in MY opinion they need to be kept safe and sheltered to some degree. Even though your experience is that " they never got hit by a car" My experience tells me that time and time again I have seen similar situations turn into a tragedy, and people are mourning and dealing with so much guilt as well. Just saying and again no judgement just my experience.

I love that she keeps her cat tethered in the yard and on a leash when walking. He can get up the tree for safety but not into the street, what a great cat mom!

@@Sana-mb6ig no it’s not ‘basic common sense’. Most cats are either indoor or outdoor cats, and almost never do you see cats on a leash or tethered up like a dog. It’s uncommon. She’s a very cautious cat parent, she takes very good care of her cat as well as the stay/neighbor cat.
@@lollipopsfordays3610 just because you have artificially rendered your cat under house arrest do not make em strictly an indoor cat. Cats are meant to be outdoors and unnecessarily grooming em to be locked indoors is only for your selfish needs. Any vet would tell you to take your fat obese "indoor cat" for a walk in the park with a leash on it, if you don't wanna push your cat towards insuline shots

Garfield just needed someone to mentor. My old boy took to one of my two kittens, but didn't seem keen on the other. But that one found a neighbours kittenvto mentor and they've been best mates for over ten years. They are very like us. We can pick our friends🥰🥰

Eh, the neighbors should have kept their cat inside if they wanted to really keep him.
I owned a huge norwegian forest cat some decade ago, rest his soul, and he was the hardest and toughest m-f, excuse my language, to ever walk the lands I currently own. Then one day, a neighboring farm got a tiny cat that came by. Think the Up movie, but with cats, well- that. He taught that kitty all he knew, before stray dogs came by and took his life (but not before giving them open wounds leading to a trail of blood I could later track). May he rest in Valhalla, and that kitty became the lord of these lands ever since.
OHh cmon,, we don't want to hear those kinds of stories on this channel...
They are absolutely adorable! Garfield finally decided he wanted to have a little brother and it just so happened to be Bubby, now they are best buds! My girl is just like Garfield was at first, always wanting to fight any kitty that comes close to her house!! This video definitely gives me hope that one day, she will allow me to get her a sibling! I guess I just have to wait for her to decide which sibling she decides, and I'm definitely OK with her doing that!!🥰❤😻
You could foster some kittens & whichever one she takes to you could keep. While still helping the others too. Well if you have the time & inclination anyway.
I had a slightly grumpy senior kitty that unfortunately I didn't really socialize him as a kitten enough. Well when the kittens got big enough to move around they decided every cat in the house was for cuddling. Including my orange grump. It took persistence but I came in one day & found him sound asleep with a kitten smack dab in the center of his tail asleep.
I still have two of those kittens & they are as bonded to each other as they are to me. Luckily I did socialize them more though.
But they're still having a few issues over me adopting a friends senior cat.
It's not too bad though. Tigger is quite submissive so through the door introduction & closely supervised visits really only took a few days.
Now he's settled in and enjoying himself.
The other two are mostly ok but occasionally growl, then I yell, as well as occasionally swatting at him. Then they go into timeout in the bathroom for a bit.
But if you're looking for a companion to a slightly grumpy kitty. Your best bet a a tiny kitten or kittens. Kittens will not take no for an answer when it comes to cuddling. Also if you're afraid of wanting to keep all the kittens. Or worse afraid you will keep all the kittens. Then offer to foster a duo. If possible it's best not to raise single kittens.
Anyway good luck finding a companion kitty for your kitty.
Although it might just be that she prefers you as her only companion too.

I unfortunately didn't get my Sushi as a kitten, she was a stray kitty and when I took her to the vet they said she was at least 2yrs, but fostering a couple of kittens just might work! I have to admit I'm not very good at fostering, but I'm definitely good at keeping them🥰
@@amberstamp1965 I would keep them spearated at first so your cat has a chance to get accustomed to the smell of the newcomers.

My first cat (girl) just seemed SO lonely. My vet had a "kitten kennel" in his lobby- a very large wire cage where all the stray babies brought to him could play, sleep, and most importantly, be SEEN by clients and adopted. After thinking about it, I went back to get a kitten. Got such a sweet, loveable baby, and he was so playful! Got home, brought the carrier in, set it on the floor while I closed the door- lonely kitty came over, sniffed at kitten, took a good look and HISSED. THEN SNARLED. And NEVER made friends. Lonely kitty made kitten's life miserable despite all his and my efforts. For the rest of her life she made it clear to him and me that this was HER territory. Very sad for all of us. There's lots of videos and shows out there about how to introduce cats to each other and check for compatibility. It's not always "butterflies and rainbows". Just wanted to give a heads-up. Glad to say pets since then have had good relationships, except for the orange and white boy who made it his mission to fight ANY cat with black and white markings, no one else, just those. Go figure...
I hope you take in Buddy too🤗 completely take him in forever. They are so adorable together.

@@diorsse I thought that too, but I just wonder why Garfield's mom did not give us any information. Buddy seems to have a dish of food in his 'second home'. We were once the second home for a neighbour's kitten who was bored, lonely and hungry during the day. We fed her, played and gave her a safe place to sleep. She too would "go home" around 7 pm.

@@elizzy8754 I’m assuming he’s an outdoor cat who’s been “taken care of” basically he’s not allowed inside the house or anything, but they’ll leave like some food and stuff out for him, because that’s what happens at our neighborhood, sadly the cats are in worse condition but people leave food and blankets outside for them, and someone even built them little houses behind the dumpsters. There’s a lot of stray cats here, and I’m assuming that’s why buddy is always outside, he probably lives behind the house and the family leaves him food and stuff, but they don’t have a collar on him or anything.
It doesn't look like Buddy's been fixed yet, so I wonder about that belonging to someone else thing.

Too cute. Garfield is gorgeous! And you can tell he is very loved and well taken care of. It's nice his family wants him to have fresh air and safely enjoy the outdoors. I hope he is never put on the zip line without them always watching him while he's on it. I used to work for a vet and we had animals come in with terrible random injuries from being tethered like that. Things you'd never expect to happen but somehow did. But fun for him as long as they keep watch :)

I am lucky enough to have had the company of a big fluffy ginger tom cat for over 14 years now and he has the best temperament of any cat I have ever owned. Something about that ginger camouflage!

@@mathew8581 So he doesnt run off and fight every cat out there and get himself killed, obviously? They want their cat to be able to have an outdoor life, without the risk of his aggression issues causing serious problems.
They must live in a very safe neighborhood. Probably a dead-end street, so no through-traffic, and neighbors who are kind to animals. Lucky!
I couldn't put my cat on a line like that because it would be like staking out a sacrificial goat for the couple of vicious dogs who "get out" a lot, and a cat-killer who lives in our subdivision. That kitten would have been killed in my neighborhood by the cars that speed through, who think the 20mph signs are just a suggestion.
I wish I lived in a neighborhood like hers.
Years ago I would walk my cat on a leash, my neighbors thought I was nuts. 😆
We did the same thing with our late cat. Which is one of many reasons why she lived to be 17.

It's nice to see some cats getting along with other cats. When I first got my dilute calico with her calico sisters about 10 years ago, I thought it was precious to see all of them plus a roommates kitten all playing together and getting along. I didn't think they would have a problem after we moved and one of my cats ran away to take in a kitten my family found. Sadly, they didn't like the kitten and kept a good bit of distance from him. Even more sad is that the other calico died and I havent seen the kitten since December. My dilute calico seems to be enjoying having the top of the fridge, my lap, and such, sorta, to herself. I say sorta because I still have a teenage boxer and a 2 year old mutt so even though they can't get on top of the fridge, they can get in my lap.

We had a car looked just like him named Garfield. Couldn’t keep him in the house and he got birds mice and brought them home. Crazy
I can see why you didn't keep him in the house. Unless he's one of those fancy eco friendly breeds, the exhaust fumes wouldn't do you any good. Also most cars would be too big to keep indoors for the majority of people.
If he's able to bring you gifts, I have to say he's one clever car, even more so than KITT from 'Knight Rider'. It's also cute that you called him Garfield. Did he have an orange paintjob? 😉
Those are presents of LOVE, for you...as upsetting as it is to find a cardinal head on your doorstep, or a mouse, etc. (IMHO, that's the only bad thing about cats.)
