In this tutorial, you'll learn how to create this versatile wire woven pendant. You can use either a square or a rectangle cabochon to create this piece. This weave really shows off the stone and is very secure.
So, let's get started!
............................................................
For materials you’re going to need:
8” Segment 16 G Square wire
(X2) 5” segments 21 G 1/2 round wire
~12” segment of 21 G 1/2 round wire
(X2) 2” segments of 18 G 1/2 round wire
A teardrop cabochon. I’m using a 18mmx 25mm cabochon for this tutorial.
2-3 feet 28 gauge weaving wire
(X3) 7” Segments of 20 G Round wire
(X2) 7” segments of 20 G square wire
And another 7”segment of 20 or 18 gauge round wire. (I ended up using 20 gauge for this tutorial.)
For tools, you’re going to need:
A ruler
A Ring mandrel, or something round like a large dowel
Flush cutters
Chain nose pliers
Round nose pliers
It's not necessary, I recommend having a pair of flat nose pliers as well.

You're welcome! Hello from the US!
That is cute! I want to thank you for the very easy to follow tutorial, and for speaking clearly and at a nice pace. I have listened to other tutorials and they spoke too fast, and wasn't close enough or explained what they were doing. I am thinking about starting and your video was great! Thank you.
I'm so happy to hear it!
beautiful
Thank you!
Hermoso tutorial !!!
Thank you! ❤️
Thanks so much for your videos. lovely greets🌻💜
You're welcome! Thanks for joining me this morning! 💕
One of my top ways to wrap. Often thought of doing a tutorial. Glad you did it! 😊
I'm happy to share! I do really like this style of wrapping and I hope to continue getting better at it! :)
@ellieshandcrafted your very good. I have taught in awhile, as you know ow it takes alot. I know most get monetized. But to keep up with the viewing hours one needs to continue monetization is grueling. 🤪
@@user-rp8zo2ro7q Thanks! I totally get that! It can be quite time intensive, but I really enjoy teaching, so that helps a lot as far as motivation. :)
You wrapped that cab like a Boss (as the hip cats say, haha)! I think my fave part was how you broke down each step into doable portions that look highly achievable. I’m not even close to intermediate at working on my 3rd weaving project, but know that I will be able to create something like this beauty by following this generous tutorial. Love your shoutout to Oxana, that cool technique was in my first wrap. You both have a very calm, relaxing voice and style that I so appreciate. Thank you for this and please know you’re most appreciated by this gal ;)
Thanks so much for your kind comment, Julie! I'm glad that it's been helpful to you! My main goal is to make this as doable as possible and show beginning weaver that they can create pieces like these. It makes my heart happy when I get comments like yours because it means that my videos are helping aspiring wire weavers!
Freaking beautiful, it’s 5pm in England so I’ve just finished for the day but best believe I’ll be trying this in the morning😍
Thanks Ellie!
You're welcome! So happy to hear that you like it!
Which Brand wire are you use
@@user-ic2wf5fr6u who? :)
@@user-ic2wf5fr6u I use raw copper wire from RioGrande.com or CraftwireUSA.com. Hope that helps!
Very nice
Excellent tutorial video,, keep it up
Thanks so much! I'll do my best! :)
You sound just like Oksana, lol. You could be her voice twin. Seriously, thank you so much for the video. I love the design. Thank you for sharing! K
You're welcome!! I love her! When I first started, I often watched her videos. Never thought we sounded so similar though.. LOL
Your weaving is so beautiful
Thanks so much! 🥰

Thanks! And welcome!! :)
I'm doing it now with different wires. TY SO much
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy the tutorial! ☺️
@@ellieshandcrafted I'm having a hard time with the weaving lol. I've been watching ur fingers and I think I have it down lol. TY SO MUCH FOR BEING SO CRAFTY 😁
@@karenlandi73 It takes time, but once it clicks, it's awesome! I love it so much and I'm just glad that I can share this amazing craft with others like you. :)
@@ellieshandcrafted ty so much for talking with me and keep up the GREAT job ur doing teaching. WE LUV U
@@karenlandi73 Aww, thanks so much! That means so much!
You could also do a channel set on the outside. It looks really cool
I would love that!! I'm still working on that skillset, but someday!
Excellent tutorial and finished product! I especially appreciated the list of items used in the description, the detailed voice-over, and the close-up shots. You didn't rush any steps and gave great explanation as to why you were doing a certain step. Just be careful to not go out of frame with your great closeup shots. I just found your channel and am now a new subscriber!
Question - In different places, you did a pull and twist (or wiggle) on the weaving wire to end off. What is the reason for this method? Does it leave a pokey end behind or does this method eliminate that?
Thanks for your comment!! I’ll be more careful with the close ups. 😅 That method does help to “cut” the wire so that it’s cut a bit shorter than if you used flush cutters and you don’t have to tuck it in usually. It’s not required, but I do like it better than trying to tuck in all my wires. Hope that helps! 🥰
@ellieshandcrafted it definitely helps to know the reason. I saw someone else do this method, but it wasn't explained why. I will give it a try. 😊
❤❤❤ mui mui bonito
Thanks so much!
hi this is a really nice video, its great that you used square wire to create this frame for the cabachon i like square wires, but i dont have many ideas on how to use them as i dont have enough experience yet, i mainly just do wire wrapping but i want to learn wire weaving and making cabachone frames to expand my knowledge, so i think this is a great example and also easily achivable for all beginners, please can you tell me, what is the name of the weave you created, in this video for adding to the frame? i would love to know. thanks for making a great video, you did a lovely job its very appreciated. i subscribed and gave it a like thumbs up this is beautiful wire work. Laura in uk
Hi, Laura! I'm so glad you liked the tutorial! Thanks so much for supporting my little channel!
Very good explained Tutorial, which Brand wire benutzen Sie, could you please say. Danke
Glad that it was helpful! I use solid copper wire from RioGrande. You can also find it on Amazon or, hopefully, in a local hardware store. :)
Beautiful!!!!!!! Great work! Am so overwhelmed by the tools needed, what's the best pliers to purchase?? thank you very much
Thanks! It depends on what you’re wanting to do, but as long as you have chain nose pliers, round nose pliers and flush cutters, you’re usually good to go. 😉 One of the first sets I bought was this one and they worked pretty well. www.amazon.com/Fashion-Color-Plier-Clutch-desert-Beige/dp/B001EX4G48?pd_rd_w=uZWbD&content-id=amzn1.sym.b854a5c2-4475-41f8-a6d4-df92b2868104&pf_rd_p=b854a5c2-4475-41f8-a6d4-df92b2868104&pf_rd_r=XE6PCMVH6KX60Q0AYE4Q&pd_rd_wg=WeDjR&pd_rd_r=200d76e7-77d2-49fa-9a00-641a5990ca3e&pd_rd_i=B001EX4G48&psc=1&ref_=pd_basp_bia_rpt_ba_s_3_sc Hope that helps! ❤️
@@ellieshandcrafted Thank you very much. I appreciate it. I wish to do wire wrapping. Will check it out.
I like this great art, What do you do with the excess wire? Do you throw it?
I put them in a box where I can use them later for things like ear wires, jump rings and for securing other wires in my woven frames. You can sometimes send them to places like Riogrande where they can be recycled. ☺️ I hope that helps!
How did you make the bale, it would be good to know how because we beef it before we continue on🙏🤗
I started creating the bale at this moment in the video: ruclips.net/video/NoTDFebU90o/видео.html. I hope that helps!
can you tell me which brand of wire are you using cause I'm using Beadsmith's ones and they are anti-tarnish so I can't oxidize them! Wonder which brand you use to oxidize your products?
Sure! I usually by my copper wire from RioGrande.com or CraftWireUSA.com. Hope that helps!
Question. I don't have any 16g. I only have 18 round and 20 square. Do you think those would be an okay substitute? I love this design and really wanna give it a try
Probably not 20 gauge, but 18 gauge may work okay. You’ll probably want to work harden it first. I hope that helps! 😊
@@ellieshandcrafted thank you! That helps tremendously. I wish I had 18 square at least but I'll see what happens
I noticed that you said you needed 20g weaving wire, but the spool said 28g. I just want to make sure that it is indeed 28g wire that I need, and I'm also curious if I can use 26g instead? Thank you so much. Looking forward to trying this style!
I use 28g weaving wire, but you certainly use 26g. 😉 I hope that helps!
What video editing software do you use? Tku😊
I just use I-movie. It's pretty easy to use. 🥰
@@ellieshandcrafted can't find the app?? Is it a different spelling?
@ellieshandcrafted only for iPhone. Me Android. Its so hard to find easy video editors. I try so many over my head
@@ddlynndesigns When I had my Android phone, I used YouCut. It did the job, but can be a little tedious.. LOL. I like working on my computer much more than on my phone. I'm honestly not sure what software is available for PC...
So... using round wires are impossible to handle or just harder😢..... because i don't have square wires in my country😢😢😢😢
You might try hammering it slightly after you've formed the frame to give it a more square shape. It's not impossible, just more difficult. 💕
@@ellieshandcrafted Actually... i thought of that 😉...... I might try it and tell you the results 🥰 ... thx
@@rorok4201 I'd love to hear how it goes!!
Have you ever tried this with a thick teardrop??
Depends on the thickness. It should work alright up to 4-5mm?
Saw your comment about a big stone...I have a teardrop puffy on both sides. I used 20g and 4 base wires instead of the 3 she uses . And two 18g square for the coiling came out good hope this can help ❤
For a few moments there, I felt I was in an airplane.
We do have jets that fly over here and my heater definitely makes it sound like we’re in a plane every now and then… 😅
Nice
Thanks! ☺️
Great work!
