    You have no idea how happy I am that you did this video. I was trying to figure out how you did the stencils and now I know. I thought you had them premade and I didn’t understand how you are popping off certain parts. Now I know

      Awesome man!! Well I also make stencils on Adobe Illustrator and cut them on my vinyl cutter sometimes. so I do both ways depending on the style or what I think will look best.

    The Reaper sketch actually looks better than the Spawn drawing.

    You do amazing work!!! I'm going to try airbrushing one of my daughters helmets. Is there a specific paint, and clear coat you can suggest that works best and is durable? Thank you!

    • @jboairbrush
      @jboairbrush  7 лет назад

      I use all automotive basecoat and clearcoat, brands I would say to check out are RM PPG HOK or I used Pro Spray for this job. these are all paints you would want to use in a ventilated are so if you have a shop they are ideal, if you are spraying in your home you may want to look into water based.

      Does the transfer tape work like carbon copy because how did the pencil marks get through What you were tracing?

    • @Higher-vision-media
      @Higher-vision-media 4 года назад

      @@PghTrainFanatic Solvent based paints are very nice to use. For water base, Createx brand makes a great product, but you would want to use their Wicked, or Illustration line for detail. Also, Shimirin 2, by HOK does have a low VOC for a solvent paint.

    Hey
    what paper is glued paper is where can i get it?

  • @daviddillard5834
    @daviddillard5834 6 лет назад

    What is the name of the premask or transfer tape that you use and where can I get it I use con-tac paper and it sucks it keeps lifting and if it doesn't lift on me then it pulls paint up with it so I want to try what you use but nobody ever knows what I'm talking about when I'm looking for it. Thanks for the response!

    • @jboairbrush
      @jboairbrush  6 лет назад

      The brand I’m currently using is Main Tape. I’ve used many brands of this tho, 3m I know I’ve used, I feel like they all work fine. It really shouldn’t peel up any paint, the transfer tape is really low tack so if it peels up paint or delaminates the paint then you have an adhesion problem of some kind. I buy my supplies locally so not sure where you can get it but just look it up, main tape!

    Incredible skill my man!!
    Quick question:
    What do you mean when you say you cover it with "clear binder" when you finish a section? Would that refer to clear transfer tape?

    • @jboairbrush
      @jboairbrush  4 года назад

      Thanks so much! No so when I say clear binder what I mean is essentially clear base coat. so this is sometimes used for carrying metal flake or adding candy to it. it is paint, it just has no color to it, but not to be confused with the clearcoat at the end to cover everything, this is still basecoat, its just clear.

    Whenever I mask and remask section by section no matter how careful I am to put them back exactly how they where I end up with a couple small really annoying gaps is that why you choose to outline when your done? Thanks In advance for any help!

    • @jboairbrush
      @jboairbrush  6 лет назад

      Yes that is definitely one of the reasons. The other reason is I find that the cut edge is too sharp looking and looks unnatural to me, I prefer the look of a brushed edge, as well as it's a good opportunity to add a highlight. Hope that helps!!

    How do you prep these helmets before any masking off with tape? I thought you had a video up of that step but I guess not or I’m completely missing it.

    • @jboairbrush
      @jboairbrush  6 лет назад

      You're right I do not have a video yet of the prep process I do to get a mask to this starting point... I will work on that keep watching for it in the future!!

    Are you also doing a design when there are a lot of small objects to paint? And are you allowed to paint brands like supreme or Louis V etc. as well?

    • @jboairbrush
      @jboairbrush  6 лет назад

      I definitely do small detail stuff, and as far as I see companies aren't too concerned about copyrights for custom one offs.

      I do a small rinse between colors generally and then only do a c lean up where I take my airbrush apart if it's giving me issues or maybe after a large job. I use a variety of Iwata airbrushes and also have a Harder and Steenbeck airbrush. I will check you out!

    Great work! Where do you buy your transfer tape and vinyl from? Can you post the links to the products?

    • @jboairbrush
      @jboairbrush  7 лет назад

      So currently I just buy locally at a place called Victory Vinyl, I think I'm going to try and connect with an online store and see if they want to work with me and I can then put links up. But for now I would just say any vinyl sign supply store will likely have it, I buy the medium tack.

    What did you use for the linework? Eurethanes? Wicked? OneShot? I probably would have used different thickness sharpie markers.

    • @jboairbrush
      @jboairbrush  4 года назад +1

      Yeah I just use the urethane paint tho its hard to work with cause it can eat into the paint below it if you're not careful. their are some paint markers that would work for sure, but sharpies don't really give a super crisp line like what I'm going for.

    • @jboairbrush
      @jboairbrush  4 года назад

      @@eastcoastbrushworks6327 no problem! and actually like you mentioned if you were to brush with auto air or wicked over top of the urethane it doesn't eat thru so thats a good method. I got used to using the urethane because I'll mix custom colors then need those for the line work. but when just doing black or white this is a great method. 🤘🤘

      Sorry I didn't see this comment, Looking back I think the biggest thing to getting better detail and having the paint work for me more was reducing the paint more and turning down the air a bit. I generally run around 15 psi. hope that helps!! and check out part 2!!
