One of the best things to do in Auckland has to eat and drink, find random restaurants, grab some sushi and head to the waterfront, of hunt out some of the fine dining Auckland has to offer. This was a trickier video for us to film, being from New Zealand, and knowing Auckland well, there's not too much for us to discover on the food front. So instead, we want to take you along on a bit more of a journey to all of the places we love.
Number one on our list has to be Masu, or sometimes called Ma Su, for the best sushi in Auckland. Admittedly it's more of a fine dining scene, not really somewhere you just go for sushi, but after being there so many times we just know what we like and go for it!
There's a bunch of other places we take you along to in this one, including heading up to a beautiful look out to show off one of our favourite Auckland beaches.

Great vlog! U should check out a farm over in Waitakere, they have about 200 acres of land. It's used for weddings, birthdays and other activities, as well as...well a farm, at least I hope it's still used as a farm. Haven't been there in ages.

I would totally join you for sushi! I love love love Salmon Sashimi and any types of sushi rolls, my ultimate favourite has got to be Hana Maki, it’s rice wrapped with Salmon Sashimi and topped with Mayonaise and Roe, Yums!! 💕💕

Watching from the tiny island of Jersey on the other side of the world (I saw you came to Guernsey a while back, shame you didn't get chance to come to Jersey too!) and thought how similar so many aspects of Auckland are - from the gorgeous deserted beaches with big tidal movements to the WWII gun emplacements/fortifications and the lovely food options. :)
That's so interesting! Sounds like we're going to have to come and visit Jersey someday!

you should also check out the grey lynn farmers market on Sundays for lots of fresh food and produce

OMG the Ripe Deli in Smales Farm (Takapuna, North Shore) never has the Caramel Cornflake brownie. I've been wanting to try it for ages!

Seeing the buffalo and remembering that you guys love wildlife makes me think one day in the future, which looks to be far away right now, that you should possibly consider visiting South Africa. Specifically the Kruger National Park where you can easily spot all of the big five. Unfortunately, I cannot upload a photo of what buffalo look like there in this comments section, but I think you would love it.
Perhaps one day if we make it to NZ before we are over the hill, we could give you guys some travel tips for game viewing and relaxing in the Kruger. Some pretty cool treetop accommodation that we enjoyed for our 10th wedding anniversary.
Would definitely advise driving yourself as opposed to using a tour guide game drive option since you guys take it chill as they tend to rush the experience. There are lots of safety aspects to consider, both for protection against animals and people, but The Kruger itself in terms of safety from people is pretty good.
Anyway, just a thought for one day perhaps.
Awesome video and still craving the fish and chips from way back when you uploaded that video where you caught the fish yourselves. But now.... in addition to that, that salad with the pasta and feta whip I think you called it (never had that before) looks like it tastes amazing! Hope that one had no cucumber and that there are other options without cucumber since I am allergic though.

Hi Guys, love watching all your NZ vlogs! We already prebooked our campervan for next year and really hope we can travel again! The plan is to start our trip in Auckland. We have 1 1/2 day planned in Auckland. Do you have any suggestions on where to stay? Prefarable near the city centre, like the business erea or ponsonby or wynyard quarter? Because we do not have much time in Auckland we want to look for a hotel in the middle of all the "action" :D! Thnx!
Ooh great question! If you want to be central (close to shopping, transport, great restaurants etc) then we would recommend staying in Britomart. Hotel Britomart is great, have breakfast at Kingi or Ortolana, you can walk down and explore Commercial Bay or catch the ferry over to Waiheke or Rangitoto if you're feeling adventurous. Dinner at Amano and rooftop drink at Ostro are also musts!
I live on the North Shore and love heading to Devonport for a wander. Have you guys ever been to Ebisu for sushi? It is not cheap but it is the best we've had in Auckland (but I admit, I haven't been to Masu). It's also a lovely location, in Britomart.
We have been to Ebisu but didn't really rate it to be honest - maybe because we were already addicted to Masu or maybe we just ordered the wrong things. Might have to give it another go :)

I hope y'all go to Japan! Its on my list for sure, been doing research on it for awhile. Their's Tokyo Disneyland and Hotel Gracery Shinjuku its the Godzilla hotel! And ALL THAT FOOD! Sushi is my favorite food! You guys need to make it to Japan when Covid times are past. Go to the Tsukiji Market and have freshly caught sushi...for breakfast!

I am born, and currently live there till I move to the south island next year. North, West are the best parts of Auckland. East is ugh, South okay, Central crowd like. North and West have the best views.
Last time I was in AKL. We went to Archiles Point at the end of mission bay rd. We were looking back across the sea to the City watching an orange sunset....amazing!!!!

Definitely something we can look into in the future :) You're right, we could've bought cutlery from home if we were more prepared but you'll be pleased to know the cutlery from Ripe Deli (and some of their packaging) is all compostable.

We use stock footage provided by the local tourism board in restricted areas.
I'm definitely going to head over to Ripe Deli and grab some of their food while in NZ, looks yummo and I love salads. Thanks for showing me. I have been wishing someone would open a healthy food takeaway with a drive-through would be awesome, and probably something with cooked veggies as well. I have just discovered one of our local supermarkets does a lunch time baked dinner for $10 which is great value. Their salads aren't so nice though, I think they are commercially made. Some businesses just slap salads together and they taste awful, like seafood salad or potato salad has too much yukky mayo in it. They don't take the time to make amazing tasty salads to entice customers to come to their business. New Zealand is a healthy country and Australia is a notch above! Are you saying you think Australia is a little more healthier than New Zealand? If so, do you think we would not be equal? I think we are making in roads in our attempts to eat healthier.
We always say this - why hasn't anyone invented a fresh drive-thru salad place?! One of my (Stacey) fave places is Chopt in the states where you select all your ingredients and then they turn it out onto a board and chop it all into smaller pieces so ever mouthful is bitesized and easier to eat than a big lettuce leaf!
Loved it all, but just a tiny remark about all the plastic, including cutlery. Where do you think it all goes afterwards? Same here in England.

It's the one thing we found during our visit a few years ago. Kiwis are real "foodies". Luckily you all seem to love sport activities, so it doesn't show !

Yeah film in 50 or 60 so it’s clear and looks crisp at 1080 (to keep file size down)

You guys could totally come to Australia right now since the travel bubble is up and working again ...I mean it works only one way so you would have to hotel quarantine on the way home but you wouldn’t have to hotel quarantine coming to Australia at least
We would love to buuuut it just doesnt feel right to take up space in the quarantine hotels here when people are struggling to get back and see their families 💔 As soon as things become easier/safer/cheaper/responsible we'll be there!! So much goodness to explore in Aus!

Any street side sushi place or even conveyor belt sushi restaurants in Japan will ruin your sushi experience in NZ.
We don't doubt that for a second! That's why we want to visit so badly!!
