Inside was a selection of apparel, including their FUJITRAIL waterproof running jacket and underneath that was a pair of the new Asics GEL-TRABUCO 11 trail running shoes! In today's video we are going to give you a few facts and figures about the shoes and then we're lacing them up and taking them out for a run.
Really hope you enjoy the video, thanks for watching, we'll see you in the next video and as always - stay safe and keep on running!

Bought these last week, having been Salomon through and through, with the exception of my Mudclaws, for about 6 years. Had the FujiTrabuco 2 many years ago and loved them. Bought these mainly for marathon distances over the Salomon Pulse Trail, and Sense 5. Looking forward to testing the 11's out!
Love the energy of your videos Lloyd. Keep up the great content!
Really glad you are enjoying the Content on the channel, thanks for watching and supporting 🙏😊
Thanks for this review and ended up getting the Trabuco 11. Loving it so far good cushioning & energy return. But still getting used to the high stack when running on trails
It looks like nice, no nonsense trail running shoes. Nothing flashy, just doing the job done. Never had Asics shoes, but heard great stuff about them. That jacket looks really nice.
That's totally what it is Mario, a solid trail running shoe 👍
The jacket felt really good to run in and I definitely needed it on the run! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
First impressions with these, running on time SW coastal path in Devon is that they feel very comfortable on the uphills and flat. On the steep decents though, my feet slide forward a bit, unlike in my Salomon's. Perhaps I need to adjust the lace tightness a bit, so we'll see tomorrow. Great grip though. Very noisy on tarmac before I reached the trail, but they're not designed for tarmac.
Asics are hands down my favourite run clothing brand, I have loads of their and use it a lot on trail round and ultra. In fact, the only non Asics clothing I use is a pair of OMM tights and an OMM Kamleika jacket. Interested in the Fuji jacket, will check it out.
same i only buy asics shoes now! i cant afford their clothing lol maybe later 🙏
They have a sister company Haglofs with the design team in Sweden. They make all my favourite trekking and climbing gear. They also have some fast hiking shoes which use Asics soles, midsoles etc. There's a lot of tech shared between the 2 companies.
I bought these shoes last week and noticed the mid foot seems to have more room than other brand trail shoes. I agree there is enough cushioning there to not mute the feeling of what you're running on which provides excellent feedback. I feel like you can do quite long distances on these but they really shine on rocky up and downhills.
I'm glad you're enjoying your Gel-Trabuco 11's Adam and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊
I preferred these to the Speedgoat 5s. The grip is just as good, pretty amazing on wet rock, and the heel feels more locked in. I can't quite get to love the Speedgoat. Too narrow in the forefoot for me and not enough hold around the heel. Sure I can use heel lock lacing but I'm fiddling around with tensions whereas in the most comfortable shoes for me I can easily lace them and forget. Like these
These shoes are parts of the ones i could shortly tried to try to find a replacement for the Saucony Xodus Ultra... i must say they size a bit longer so half a size felt better for me. First impression was they felt really confortable but when running, i was disturbed by the cushionning that generated some kind of boucing effect from the heel.
By the way to prevent the heel from moving a bit up and down with some shoes, i had to do the "runner's loop" which proved efficient.
How do they compare with the Xodus from Saucony?
@@vladsohan2912 xodus ultra i guess?
I have tried the first version which did not fit me at all because of the internal stiching of the tongue to the mesh that was rubbing painfully against my toes articulations. Unfortunately it's something i realized like after 30 mn to 1 hour of running...
As for version 2, i did not try it but it's not stitching anymore but glueing so the rubbing problem may have disappeared.
Now, during the short time i have tried both this shoe and the Xodus Ultra 1, Xodus Ultra has a more rigid sole i am more used too (like i said the boucing effect of the Asics disturbing).
But, at the end of the day, both shoes were not for me! It's better to try when you can before because brands are differents and even models between generations are differents with some evolutions great for some or completely missed...
I have the max 2 and I love that shoe.
I just ordered the Trabuco Max 2, excited to try them out
Hope you like them 👍🙂
Nice touch having a Fenix truck go by at 6:30. 😂
I know, it took me 10 takes to time that right Darragh! 😂😂
These look great
I’m stuck between these and the inov8 and hoka mafate
I want an all round trail shoe
Are you getting the trabuco 12’s
Think this would be a good option to run UTS 50K? I have the La Sportiva Akasha 2 but they are too firm (unless I’m running over rocks/stones where they are bulletproof!)
This Trabuco is to heavy for a standard trailrunning shoe, in my opinion. After seen you're reviews of the Saucony Xodus Ultra I bought the shoe. After my second run it felt real comfortable, and in my size UK 12 it's much lighter than this Trabuco. I got the runshield version on a great deal for only €82,-. This saterday i'm running 43K race in them so we'll see how it will hold up.
Thanks for the great video's Lloyd, cheers from the Netherlands!!
The Xodus Ultra is definitely a superior trail shoe Mark, I'm really glad you're enjoying yours 👍
Best of luck with your race and thanks for watching the channel 🙏
Can we wear these for daily use? Any problem these might cause? How long would the sole last while running/walking on roads ?
Look forward if you can review the Trabuco Max version 2, tech wise, it appears better than Trabuco 11.
I would like to try the MAX version at some point, I've been hearing good things Andy 👍
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
Good afternoon Run4adventure and all the runners from 🇪🇸. Thanks for this new information about trabuco 11. LIKE to Loyd. A nice week for everyone.🌦️🏃⛰️
The ending is 👍🤣🤣
How's the fit/sizing comparing to Novablast 3? The same size for both? Or half size up for Trabuco 11?
bought these and felt a lil bit firm on fist 20km run. do the midsole need break in?
Thanks for your great reviews. Do you have any figures for stack height ?
Unfortunately not Liam, I looked everywhere but could find the figures? 🤔
Thanks for watching 🙏
Question Lloyd, did the shoe feel very stable? Previous versions had duomax to help prevent overpronation and now ASICS says they have an adaptive guidance system and gone with the duomax.
An old injury has me needing more support than most and the older versions worked pretty well that way! Not many trail runners have built in support so my options are limited.
The midsole construction is very similar to previous versions Kristian. Pretty much all trail shoes are built of a neutrally structure platform because the trail running environment is a lot more forgiving than the road. I'd say if previous Gel-Trabuco models have worked for you, this one should to 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏
Hello, if compare with kailas fuga ex boa, which one better? Thanks😊
Did you buy these? Did they work to give you pronation support?
Ordered these last night, after watching your video, and looking forward to using them. I had bought Hoka Speedgoat 5's but haven't really been enjoying them, so hoping these will be better. I have Nimbus 25's for the road and love running in those
Hi, how do you compare them to Speedgoat? I also have the Speedgoat, pretty comfortable, but the tongue is really thin and the durability seems suspect.
@@radoslavstoev4550 Hello there! I found that whenever i ran in the Speedgoats, I would get pain around the balls of my foot and would feel the terrain a lot more. With the Asics, I don't have that pain and the ride is a lot more comfortable under foot.
Is it worth it to get the gore-tex model?
I have quite wide feet and have suffered with rubbing on the little toe in my current pair of Adidas Trailriders (so much so that they have worn through the outside of the toe box !). So ye I am looking for a bigger toe box and I was wondering how you found the toe box on these? I notice, compared to my current shoes, theres a decent level of protection round there aswell and that its not just 'mesh'. Thanks for the video.
These are wider than Adidas in my experience. I almost always get pinkie blisters in their trail shoes. It's a bit disappointing as Adidas have great tech.
Thanks, yes they certainly are - purchased them and they feel much better out on the trails, so hopefully will get some longevity out of them.
Watching your video finally made up My mind i just Order Asics Trabuco 11 😂
nice review!do you think this will be better than the speedgoat 5?
It depends on the individual, running shoes are so personal. The Speedgoat 5 is a deeper cushioned shoe, so if you like soft shoe you'd prefer the Speedgoat. If you want more ground feel and connection, then the Gel-Trabuco is the shoe for you. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊
Let me know when you’re selling those please Loyd, I could do with replacing my Trabuco’s 10’s 😎
How is the comfort compared to the new saucony ultra ? The upper on the asics looks like it's a knit and looks to mold to the foot better. Not sure about the midsole though ?
The Xodus Ultra is more comfortable for me Micky. The midsole has more cushioning and bounce. I also prefer the feel and fit of the Xodus Ultras upper 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏
Hi! Are these any good for just plain old walking? I live in Cornwall and have just given up smoking/drinking etc and planning on walking a load of trails near where I live. Any good?
You could definitely use the Asics shoes for walking 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏
Just want to say well done for choosing to live healthier! As a fellow sojourner on this tough world, I am proud of you stranger!!! All the best.
How many miles can they withstand?
I wonder is it comparable to that version 9?
I recall some fast downhill runs felt a bit firm under forefoot. I hope T11 with new foam would address it, dampening it better.
But... 8mm drop make me think the front can't be that different, no matter what's inside. 🤔
I did mention how it compared to the 9's several times in the video Yal. I personally thought the 11's upper fitted better and there is a bit more cushioning in the midsole of the 11 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏
@@Run4Adventure Thanks, I must have been too tired to listen properly 🤦♂️
Yet, one thing did ring a bell - a mentioned Mafate Speed 4 seems way more attractive 😎
And, there is still that new Peregrine...
I'll look forward to your full reviews. Can't have all shoes!?... Although a tempting concept 😅
I’m looking for a GTX Trail shoe for mud? Any tips! I had the peregrine 12 but cut my ankle. You gonna review speedgoat 5 gtx or north face vective futurelight
To be honest Jonathan, I'm not a fan of waterproof shoes! A shoe can't really be waterproof, because it's got a big hole where your foot goes in 😊 I've tried them in the past and they weren't very breathable and if you do get water in the shoe, unfortunately it can't get out. Obviously it's super personal but I'd always go for standard trail shoes and get wet feet. So to answer your question, I won't be testing out the Speedgoat 5 GTX. Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏😊
@@Run4Adventure hey, thanks a lot! I watch a lot of your videos and a bit of a shoeaholic ha I have inov8 ultra trail and hoka Tecton x. I agree with you for complex trails but I would say Gtx are great for winter runs in the cold or river runs where it is wet and puddles but not hugely technical. They are great for the mud in England
But yes I learned when I first started trail running 2 years ago that you can run with 2 baths on your feet ha
Thanks a lot for the advice. Just looking for something with better grip. I would just buy the speedcross 6 but they are so narrow
Have you tried the asics fuji lite 3? I wanna hear your thoughts about that shoe
I have Daniel but I've heard good things about the shoe 👍
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏
The Trabuco seems to come across like a slightly less good Peregrine. I am however interested to see the Sense Ride 5, that looks like a significant update.
The Sense Ride has had a big update this time round, it should feel more cushioned with the new midsole Stu 👍
I can't decide between the TRABUCO 11 and the TRABUCO 11 GTX.
The GTX seems to have Goretex and looks completely the same but according to the website it's also like 30g heaver? (maybe a mistake on the website?)
I don't know it the 11 has a membrane too, and the GTX is just paying for the brand of if there's an actual difference.
Price for the two shoes is approximately the same.
The GTX version is completely lined with a Gore-tex membrane to make it “waterproof” it will definitely be heavier. The standard version doesn’t have a membrane and it’s not waterproof. I’m really not a fan of Gore-tex trail shoes because they tend to be a little less breathable and once the water gets inside the shoe it can’t escape! I’d always go for non Gore-tex 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🙏
@@Run4Adventure Thank you so much! Appreciate the video review and the reply!
@@kwinzman No worries 👍
Can we run casually on this shoes ?
I also had the Trabuco 9 and really liked the mid sole and out sole. Really stable, grippy and had enough cushioning. Unfortunately the upper mesh material started to crack where the shoe bends in line with the ball of my foot. I thought it was me bumping my feet together but it was actually the bending action that was causing the wear. I'd be interested to know if this happens to the #11 as well.
Also had two pairs of the Trabuco 9 with exactly the same problem. The material started to crack after only 4 weeks and the shoes became unusable after 6 to 8 weeks. I bought them at the official Asics shop in Vienna and they only gave me my money back after weeks and threatening them with a lawyer.
I also had great fun the Trabuco 9 but I've seen the same issues appearing 😞
Unfortunately, the more recycled material used, the faster the material cracks and breakdown.
I’m thinking about getting a pair of these for my Wild camping trips, mostly on the SW coast path in Devon, would you recommend them for that, I see a pair for £75 at sports direct
They would work well for that and at £75 that’s a good deal 👍🙂
@@Run4Adventure Thanks for the reply, going to get them, will let you know how I get on with them, I used to be a runner but my knees can’t take it anymore at age 50, miss the running but I can still walk long distances, I’m hoping the size will fit the same as my gel Nimbus 24
Can you recommend this as a good road to trail shoe as well?
same question
Too firm on road to my taste. Not the most comfortable for this purpose.
Are these good for road to trail? I run on roads for about a mile until I get to the trail.
The Trabuco 11 would be fine crossing over to a section of road 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching 😁
How does the upper stack up against the 9s for durability? My 9s died a sad death after 300km and a knarly rocky race
It's hard to say Katie after only one run in the 11's? The upper looks like it's well put together but I guess time will tell 👍
Thanks for watching the channel, its really appreciated 🙏
Meh, too heavy with too much drop for my taste. Asics has started to make good shoes again again they'll always be a "daily trainer" road running company for me I suppose. Nice review again Loyd.
I do need a new pair of trail running shoes. Kinda dived between getting the Sauncony Xodus Ultra 2 keep on looking for alternatives since I do kinda want something that's a bit lighter.
You should try the Fuji Lite (Lyte?) 3’s…. They are lite as the name suggests but also have less drop. Oh, also has the great cling and stick outsole of the Trabuco.
trabuco 11 or trabuco max 2 which one better?
I have the same question and considering both. I guess the cushion on Max 2 is better
Hands down, Trabuco Max 2 (or 3, now, just an upper update). Get that discount on TM2 now!
Look good
It's a nice looking shoe Grant 👍😊
Will it be slippery on mountain with snow
I’ve not run them in the snow so I can’t say? The ASICS outsole is very good though when it comes to grip and traction 👍
super shoes best us.
Is it waterproof?
The model I tested wasn't waterproof Renz but you can get the Gel-Trabuco 11 in a GTX version and the is waterproof 👍
Hope this helps and thanks for watching the channel 🙏
Is that Trabuco GTX?
Did you watch the video? 🤔
338g is heavy I guess for running
It is quite heavy for a running shoe 👍
Never put the word Trouble in a shoe :)
I wish they could somewhat tweak/replace the logo on the sides of the shoes. It’s like it literally contributes to the shoe looking less attractive. Is it just me?
I totally agree
yes it looks like an old shoe
You're not alone. The asics logo is 🤢
Totally agree. I tend to lean towards shoes with minimal or unobtrusive branding. Overbranding (ie giant swooshes) looks lame and doesn't aid performance imo
It also doesn't hinder performance so what's your point? Nobody looks at your shoes when you're running buddy
Meh. Outsole is excellent. Midsole is 60 year old tech and nothing special. Asics and Hoka better figure out the PEBA midsole or they'll be selling them in Walmart.
your Eng is hard to listen
It's pronounced Trabuco not Traboco
I know it is but when you're in front of the camera your brain can do funny things sometimes. I actually pronounce it both ways in the review! Sorry about that but thanks for pointing it out 👍
Is that a silent "r"?
TRA BU CO that's all
Hmm, I guess its still Trabuco, just a question of Japanese RA being less RRRICH 😉
If otherwise - I'm open to leaRn
@@bildotunechi Nah that was my daft typo! 😂
lol- and the last thing you want to be wearing in the rain is a brand new Fuji Gore-Tex Waterproof Jacket ??? C'mon man - I expected you to bravely take on even the most brutal horizontal rain with a jacket like that but instead you are running for shelter under a walkway - the Asics/Fuji reps are going to cringe when they see this ..lol. - Nice video !
I'm not running from the rain and seeking shelter for my benifit. I'm definitely not a fair weather runner, It's for the camera! I use a media mod on my Gopro because it makes the audio so much better especially if it windy, night and day different but unfortunately it means my Gopro isn't waterproof. With a new Gopro and media mod costing around £500 I think running for cover is the sensible option, don't you 👍
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video 🙏
Yeah, he made it pretty clear that it was for filming purposes as to why he needed to seek shelter. I think Loyd can handle the weather 😀
Why are you yelling?
