    It look so delicious!!! I used to make it all the time but because that particular candy is my very weakness and I can not eat just one or two, 😋I had to back off. I have not made it in over a year 😢due to trying to lose weight and regain my health back. 🤩

    Thank you for this video. I see a lot of recipes with carnation milk, but I thought I remembered my great grandmother using condensed milk. So there it is, I’m definitely trying this recipe. My great grandmother’s pecan candy was amazing.

    It came out too soft that it was a mush but it taste good . How do I make it hard?

    • @shonuffgonnakeepitreal
      @shonuffgonnakeepitreal  3 года назад

      Sounds like you needed to cook it a little longer. Whenever it comes out too soft, it'll take days to stiffen. Next time cook longer but for now don't throw it away just let it sit for a few days. Nothings wrong with a little taffee😁

    • @shonuffgonnakeepitreal

    I can never get it to harden

    • @shonuffgonnakeepitreal
      @shonuffgonnakeepitreal  4 года назад +4

      That is probably because you take it out too soon that will happen. When you are getting close to the end pay close attention to the candy starting to stir together in a clump. Notice that the edges are starting to look right. Thats your cue to test with water. Try cooking for 5-10 minutes longer than you normally do. I guarantee it will come out better for you.🤗🙋🏽‍♀️

    When do you add the rest of the butter and vanilla you said the other half is it actually a whole stick of butter and how much more extra vanilla do I add

    • @shonuffgonnakeepitreal
      @shonuffgonnakeepitreal  4 года назад +2

      Good question. Only add the other half stick of butter at the end. Do not add the extra vanilla bc it will make the candy cook faster it'll be hard to judge if its ready. I hope this was helpful

    • @shonuffgonnakeepitreal
      @shonuffgonnakeepitreal  4 года назад

      Sorry for your struggle, pecan candy isn't easy to make at 1st. One thing you must not do is have the fire too high or it'll cook to fast and don't rush it or it will come out too soft. Are you working on a gas stove or electric stove?

    • @LaUraka97
      @LaUraka97 4 года назад +1

      @@shonuffgonnakeepitreal thank you for your reply. Im working with an electric stove.

    • @shonuffgonnakeepitreal
      @shonuffgonnakeepitreal  4 года назад +1

      @@LaUraka97 electric stoves can be a bit tricky. It takes longer and you have to be careful with the temp. However I would suggest trying it again starting off not too fast and when it comes to a boil gradually turn it up but keep it at a steady paste. Don't give up. This is a process. You can do it trust me. No one gets it right on the 1st go.

    • @LaUraka97
      @LaUraka97 3 года назад +1

      @@shonuffgonnakeepitreal thank u so much I’ll definitely keep trying. One last question So How would i know when its done? I don’t get the ice part?

    • @shonuffgonnakeepitreal
      @shonuffgonnakeepitreal  3 года назад +1

      @@LaUraka97 good question. You can have ice cold almost chilled. When the candy is almost at the sweet spot of hardening you drop a piece of candy in. If it gets hard like can crack. Its ready

      One more question...you said you add half a stick of butter and vanilla then add the other half of butter later...would that be an extra tablespoon of difference the recipe says 1\3 cup?

    • @shonuffgonnakeepitreal
      @shonuffgonnakeepitreal  4 года назад +3

      @@marqueze77 good question don't add an extra tablespoon of vanilla, but do add the other half of the butter. The vanilla extract makes it harder to tell if it's done correctly.
