I recently did an interview on the Talk About Tatooine Podcast! Go to their RUclips channel if you’d like to dive deeper into this parasocial relationship you and I have going. 😎👍
I think the worst part of pvp right now is that how you perform doesn't matter. You can go positive or negative and STILL get the same amount of veterancy level xp.
50+ hours played since the advanced access here - there's plenty to do and i have faith in the Focus devs to keep improving and adding to content for free. The price tag is an investment
I should add that I disagree with most of your complaints and have different issues of my own which you haven't mentioned but that's ok. It's subjective
@@00ABBITT00 I’ve got over 100 hours in the game and have yet to max out 3 characters or complete all operations on ruthless… yeah there’s plenty to do
It seems like SM2 as a whole (but especially in regards to the campaign) focused on quality over quantity, which I can really appreciate after having to deal with so many bloated game releases that try to pack in as much content as possible. I enjoyed the shorter campaign since it didn't overstay its welcome, and it let me really enjoy the badass cinematics and gameplay moments that let me feel like a space marine, and each operations map offers a unique objective, setting and different end events/enemies. They also took the time to tie the operations into the main campaign so you can feel a sense of time within the missions (as opposed to Verm/Darktide, which its like... how long are we spending in these missions from a lore standpoint, exactly?) Balance is kinda whack, but I can't recall a game that launched with flawless balance so i'm willing to overlook that. This is definitely one of those games that you aren't meant to hard grind for hours on end, but pick up and put down as it gets new content which I don't mind either.
Just to clarify on the wearing Terminator armor statement, it wouldn't make sense for your squad to wear one since you're a part of 2nd Company, not 1st company. But I agree with the rest of that gameplay shaking statement. There needed to be some moments that play different like the sub orbital drop.
While I enjoyed the campaign, I felt like the progression via operations was very slow and when I did get an upgrade, it didn't feel like it made much of a difference. I haven't been playing it much since and have shifted to Darktide (which I hadn't played before). I find the gameplay loop there a lot more rewarding.
My biggest complaint is the lack of crossplay on PVP. There are lots of times we have 4 or 5 homies online, all on diff platforms, and we can't grp up.
I think they may as well add crossplay in PvP. It’s not a serious or competitive environment. There’s no “ranked” so there really isn’t any point in keeping the platforms separated.
@@trumpisgod2535 I am not saying any pool of players need to be added to another. I am saying that some console player do in fact want at least an option to join their buddies in PC lobbies. "Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game." - Soren Johnson, Civilization IV designer “One of the responsibilities of designers is to protect the player from themselves.” The situation with speed running in SM2 reminds me of playing the Neverwinter MMORPG over a decade ago. Send help. I spent all my resources on paint schemes! lol Loved the video. I had VERY similar thoughts almost point for point on the campaign. No notes. 🤘
Completely agreed. The game is gorgeous and fun to play but it definitely needs some tweaks on the gameplay the sooner the better I guess. People are already maxing out all the classes by speedrunning 😅
Did the class with the shield pisses me off really bad like I frequently had the enemy push into our spawn and that shield can take so much damage it’s ridiculous
Hey man, came across your channel from another video you were in on Tanner Lindburg's video "space marine is mid at best". Curious if your opinion's changed since this review here? You seem quite favourable, but in Tanner's video you have a lot more, valid, negative things to say.
Tanner's video was more of like a "venting session" for me. Sometimes you just have to complain about something! Don't get me wrong, I still play Space Marine 2 almost daily. The next video I'm working on is actually really positive!
@@Jeficus That's fair! I think especially being as big of a fan as you are, I can totally understand why you'd be more willing to give positive feedback. Thanks for the vid
In my opinion I give it an 8 but for some reason I feel something different with this game compared to other 8's and I think it's the fact that it has 3 game modes as was the standard years ago. For that reason I think I see more promise in it, I wouldn't necessarily call it “live service” in fact I didn't even know about the future seasons until I saw the store when I bought it, I hope they improve it and I get to the point of considering it a 9.
$25 game, being sold as a $60 game. Extremely low content, with inconsistent core mechanics. Watching the player count drift down everyday is amusing lol.
@@CupOfLibertea87 Would you rather have locked content behind paywalls instead? I'm completely fine with the season pass only giving chapter colors, you're more so supporting the devs so more power to them
Thanks for the balanced review. I bought it on Steam, played it for a couple of hours, found it not to my liking in any way, and refunded it on Steam. It’s just a blend of Helldivers 2 and Gears of War, only not as polished and exciting as either. I simply didn’t like the core gameplay loop. I’m not at all a W40K fan, though, bear that in mind. I’m sure I’ll get flamed for this comment by the fans, but please realise it doesn’t mean it’s a bad game if some people didn’t like it. I didn’t like Helldivers 2 either, yet I know many people loved it and it was a critically-acclaimed game. Some games don’t appeal to some gamers and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Already bored of it. Tedious and boring repetitive missions. PvP is so unbalanced its a joke. If you go in missions with friends its just about bearable. Pug them and its terrible. Nah, most people I know are getting bored too.
@@khatack Ah, gotcha. I’ll try to elaborate more in future videos on some of the gameplay mechanics that don’t feel satisfying enough for me to warrant the gameplay as something in itself that is rewarding or engaging enough to keep me coming back for more. Thanks for the feedback!
@@Jeficus Well, it is a real problem of the age. All games are trying to entice players with "rewards" to play their games and it really feels like gamers feel entitled to get all sorts of digital praises and badges for the grand accomplishment for wasting their time playing a video game. I'm not saying that you're part of the problem but there it is. I miss the times when games were just games and you played them as long as you were having fun instead of being obsessed with some sort of "reward".

Hate that
The worst part is how grindy it is, that there is no meta-progression apart from guns.

PS5 can play with Xbox, PC doesn’t need to be added to console. PC is filled with hackers and have a competitive advantage.

I honestly believe if this game wasn’t backed by the 40k franchise, it wouldn’t have sold as well as it did. 🤷♂️
Armoury data has set spawn points, not just by defeating bosses. You can always get 2 max in one operation.
Very true, 4 spawn locations per mission. So you should be able to guarantee 1 armory data per mission if you know where those spots are.
They had the audacity to release dlc on day one?!
It's only additional colours for your armor, it actually sucks
