Hello Kevin, I have a 2014 Kia Soul and it is one of the very base models, so it doesn't have a trunk speaker on the right side. There is just a cover panel over it, but I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how you might go about putting a speaker in there, because I don't know what I am doing.
+Travis Jaruzel Are you talking about where the round storage compartment is near the light and 12v outlet? It looks like it would allow a 8" or 10" subwoofer. I didn't try putting anything there since I was just putting the powered sub under the driver's seat. I can see if the cover comes off and if so install would only be a matter of running the wires to that location.
+Travis Jaruzel You will need to remove the entire panel to install a sub there. Check out this website: www.kisouman.com/kia_soul_2014_year_ps_service_manual-850.html It shows you how to get into the compartment and tons of excellent additional information about the Kia Soul
@@MrZukiman1nc I removed the entire rear panel , there are roughly 8 screws are Philips , I used a Dremel & gently cut a perfect round hole . have yet to get a 8" sub & have to be shallow, also auto zone or auto parts store get some sound deadening will help with distortion being you're speaker will be next to car metal , its worth it & also be sure to run speaker wire to your sub location, good luck!!! PS I have a 2014 Kia soul base added a cruise control & arm rest - storage floor console to it, looks great & cruise works wonderful as well
so its 6 years later and i have questions abt installing 2 12s in my 2014 kia soul but dont know if i need to change out the radio for it or is it good if anyone sees this lmk pls
Did you have to run the cable for the backup camera, since the basic radio does not support it? I was wondering if you had that DIY or could tell what's the best way to run the cable and to attach the camera. Thanks.
Yes I did have to run it. It went through the bumper then up into the rear through a plugged off hole in the spare tire compartment. Then I just went under the carpet until I got to the dash.
for the wiring, what color wires connect with which? i thought the same colors just connect to eachother but i’m not sure and i don’t want to mess anything up, could you help with this?
Hey I'm installing an aftermarket radio in connected to the same cord you show for the radio to know I'm backing up. The screen switches to black and says no video input. Do you happen to know the wire that would need to be used to connect to the factory camera for the video feed? Or maybe adapter to use?
So you're saying you have an OEM camera and need to know what wires to connect to for the video? If so I don't know. But here's the factory wiring info that should help. (www.kisouman.com/audio-1874.html) Did you see if iDatalink has a module for the factory camera?
Kevin Harris Just looked at your video it's reaļly good. I have a 2014 base with oem camera I recently bought a pioneer aftermarket receiver with back up camera function. Is that the only wire that you tapped and was it for an oem camera as well
I did not have the OEM camera, I tapped into the wire at the shifter. I don't know which wire it would be with the OEM camera. I'd imagine there's a wire that goes into the factory headunit that could be used, actually I just looked it up for you, it's the #6 pin on Connector B (camera video input) #7 pin is Camera Battery (+) #18 pin is Camera Video ground and #23 pin is the Camera power ground. Sorry it took me so long to respond, I missed your question notification.
Just take your car to a reputable stereo shop. Or else you’ll have to buy the head unit, dash kit, steering wheel control kit, harness, etc. all separately. You can try installing it but stereo shops your best option if you dont feel comfortable.
I have a 2017 soul stock stereo pretty much the same .. I have Sirius xm on it. Well do u know once u replace can u transfer subscription to new unit and would I need anything else
i have kia soul 2014 with bluetooth with my phone...i see you add a mic with ur new unit...does it mean the original bluetooth mic and featers dont work anymore?
Where you able to get all the controls to work? I was only able to get the track/volume/mode buttons to work. The phone buttons don't do anything and the mic button registers as a mode button press. I used the Metra ASWC-1. I had better luck patiently scoring the sides of the Metra unit with my work knife (cold steel voyager).
I was able to get it to work but I used the iDatalink Maestro steering wheel control adapter and you can actually go in and program the buttons to do what you want them to do.
I have the same car too and I hooked up the tan/red stripe wire and nothing happens. On my aftermarket head unit I have the reverse hooked up to that. Any ideas?
Do all your usb ports and aux port work is there anything you hooked up differently .mine that i have charges my Android phone but my iphone dosent work
If you want the aux ports and steering wheel controls to work you need the more expensive swc wiring harness. It's $60 on eBay but there's also a full kit with the harness and plastics for $80
Did you happen to purchase the can bus adapter and install it and any other wires that you hooked up or was it all plug and play . And did your steering controls all work if it was plug and play
Ok thanks looking to buy other videos say they just plugged everything in and steering wheel controls worked they didnt do anything special just plugged everything in from radio and it was good to go .
Metra kit gave me the same problems on my sister's Kia Soul...freaking hate the fitment and the gap. There is another company with a bitter kit called Scosche, it even matches the outer HVAC bezel better. However, I got my kit today and they sent me two left brackets so wtf haha.
+Matthew Maranan I had searched for different kits and the Metra was the only one that came up... odd... anyway thanks for that info! Here is the Scosche part number KA2417B
Like u vid bro. Hey had a question for u. Have u seen or watch any vids on doing modification on the brake lights for the kia soul. What I mean by that when u drive at night the lights are obviously on the back ones that look like beams. But when u press the brake only the bottom section turns on and not the whole beam. I wanna see about finding out a way how to not my wiring system so when I press the brake lights the whole red beam turns on. Let me know what u think of my suggestion.
I haven't really looked at the lights to see how they are wired. From what it sounds like you are saying is that the half the light is used as a tail light and when you press the brake the lower light (brake light) illuminates and the top light goes out? If that's the case I would think that you would only need to jumper the brake powered wire to the tail light... This would cause both lights to illuminate when you hit the brake... it would also cause your brake lights to be on when your tail lights are on so to fix that you'd need to put a resistor in to keep the flow of power one way.
How has this car held up since you madet his video? any problems at all? major? minor? How many miles do you have on it now? I am thinking about buying this vehicle 2014 as well in possibly a few days, id really appreciatte if you can help me out. Is it worth it?
overall it has been a good unit... the only issue we've had is when the car is turned off and turned back on the station changes and the volume goes up... For example if the radio had been set on 93.1 at volume 7 and the car is turned off, when the car is started again the radio is on 93.3 at volume 11. Dunno why and I haven't checked to see if there is a firmware update but that's the only issue so far.
It's a Jensen VX7022 and it does work good. One thing that is kind of odd and there may be a firmware update to fix is every time it turns off and restarts it will change the FM station and turn the volume up. So if it were on 93.1 when I turn off the car at volume 10, when I turn it back on it will be on 93.3 on volume 17. No idea why it does that. It also only does it in Radio Mode, if it was on CD or Bluetooth when it comes on it stays on it and the volume is the same. Kind of annoying but I haven't checked to see if there is a firmware fix for it.

You don't miss the buttons surrounding the OEM head unit? The sides look kind of plain.

Hey to add a amplifier and a 10’ kicker speaker what would I need to do to connect it. Is there a specific connector or wires I need to order
The head unit has preouts for an amp. Most aftermarket units will have preouts
Would I need a new wire harness just making sure before I start and have to order a new one lol
@@DanielLopez-ht4ov you shouldn’t need a new harness. Most amp kits will have the audio cables in addition to the power, ground and remote on wires.
Ok thanxs a bunch
does the DVD player still play movies while driving

Not sure... I used a voltmeter and started checking wires until I found one that went 12v when shifted in reverse. I never trust wire color.
Reel Hooker Fishing & Outdoor Adventures I guess I’ll try that. But is there another wire beside the reverse wire that I need to connect?
@@mjl6425 no it should only be one wire for the reverse trigger
