Does the AWOL work projected onto the wall? I remember you did a video with a screen paint.

A screen will always be better for several reasons.
they are intended to reflect light whereas a bare wall (without special coating) is not.
an alr screen for UST will direct light from the steep angle of the projector out towards the audience and not reflect it in all directions which then reflects off walls/ceiling and adds more ambient light into the room.
unless your wall is perfectly smooth, it will have texture that can distort your pixels geometry and will reduce the sharpness of your image
UST projectors accentuate any deviation of flatness and you will see a distortion in your image. Many people who don’t use screens think that something is wrong with their projectors lens, but it is due to the wall not being perfectly flat.
That all being said, there are still many people who are happy just projecting on the wall, especially due to the cost savings, but performance will not be the same.

It's Behr paint from Home Depot. It's basically the blackest paint Behr makes

Thanks, I know I'm a pain . It's just that after seeing many videos of folks with black paint, yours is the only one that actually looks really black.
      That's why I ask .
