My grams always made my fav lemon cake for my birthday. It was a layer of yellow cake in a cake pan. Then a glaze made of real lemon juice mixed with powdered sugar. And if you let that glaze sit on the cake, for at least a day, it soaks the cake, and it's nice and tart. Mmmmmmmm.
Chicago dog is my fave. Yes on celery salt.

I am from Chicago and want to correct you on the food. Cheese sauce is not a Chicago thing. Secondly, we do not compare the decor to TGIF. The poppy seed bun of the hotdog is a Chicago thing. The owner Dick Portillo started the restaurant over 60 years ago and he no longer owns it . Chicago does not put ketchup on the hotdog. Portillios stopped selling their tamales and ribs and baked potatoes and we miss the tamales. Your Portillios food prices are .60 more per item because you are in California. If you ever leave your California bubble and travel to Chicago there is a hotdog stand at Milwaukee and Devon in Chicago called Super Dawg and you would absolutely love those dogs because they have green tomatoes and very green relish and their fries are better . The theme is different in Portillios restaurants. In Schaumburg, Illinois the Portillios has old movie posters and toys. Travel to Chicago and do food videos .

Hate to say it you go to cosco and buy liquid cheese in a cam put it in crock pot heat it up that's all it is and buy French fries and I will take the lemon cake any day of the week you can keep the chocolate cake I don't eat chocolate at all

Do you know why the chocolate cake is so delicious and moist at Portillo’s? Because it’s made with mayo… no joke. I’m from Chicago and now live in Oceanside. Whenever I need my Portillo’s fix I definitely do the drive.
