Good question. The Carhartt Storm Defender and Rough Cut jackets are built for different conditions, but they do have one thing in common: neither is designed for insulation. These are primarily shells, so you’ll need to layer up with a good base layer if you’re working in colder weather. Just make sure you size your jacket right. The Storm Defender is a thin, fully waterproof shell. It’s great for damp or prolonged wet conditions, keeping the rain out while staying breathable enough to let sweat escape. The Rough Cut is also a shell, but it’s built differently. Made with nylon and has some stretch, it’s a rugged option that fits really well-not bulky like the traditional Carhartt duck cloth jackets. However it is water-resistant, not waterproof, so it’s perfect for light rain or wind when you need something flexible and tough. Both jackets are durable and high-performing, but they’re designed for very different jobs.
You’d be right on the edge. The storm defender you would not want but the rough cut would come down to if you feel that regular jackets are too small then I’d do large tall but you’d be happy with the regular. I’m 6’3” and 230 and it fits me perfect.
Just ordered this thanks for the couple videos I just seen on it ! Subbed
Yep I live near Seattle and realized I need a legit waterproof jacket after 7 years being here 😂 feeling a lil late to the party
Ha ha
A "legit" waterproof jacket? ROFL!
Is the rough cut just a more heavyweight version of the storm defender?
Good question.

The relaxed fit me the best. In the same height and same weight as you. Can’t wear an XL, large tall fits me the best.
2:33 i dislike these types
of cuffs on jackets.. very much prefer the ones that stretch like on a bomber jacket
Do you know what today’s equivalent of the storm defender is?
Arc teryx
You can find their newest version on Amazon. Here is that link amzn.to/4dtRFNZ
I have about all the jackets Carhartt makes and I do like the rough cut. I own them both.lol
If I’m 6’1” 210-215 would the tall large be too big for the rough cut

The rough cut lrg brown/grey is sold out everywhere
CArhartt coats went way down. The T-shirt’s feel the same
The European Carhartt line is still very good.
Not to mention they are "woke".
Although expensive Snickers Workwear has amazing jackets!
