God Bless You!! Thank you! My mom made this fudge for me as a child and for my children. She passed away in 2010 and I have been searching for this recipe ever since. I’m going to make it this weekend for my children and grandchildren. Thank you for sharing. Peace and love be with you.
Thank you and same to you!
There’s a million old fashion fudge recipes out there, but only yours is this beautiful! It’s perfect! YOU know what you’re doing!
Thank you!
I just made 2 batches of this. One with walnuts and one without nuts. Both turned out perfect. I've been looking for an easier to make recipe for this fudge and have found it. Thank you so much for sharing.
Great job! I'm making several batches today.
That has to be the absolute prettiest fudge I've ever seen! I know this video is old, but it looks so pretty and glossy. Just the way old fashioned fudge should look. Great job Jeannine!
Thank you!
August 2020......I have made this over and over last few weeks. I love this NO NEED to cool in sink of water. Creamy delish. In fact I have boiled this on 4 on my knob and made this single batch in 15 minutes.....start to finish. It got to softball stage soooo fast an I kept lightly stirring. Add butter vanilla nuts and immediately off burner stir 3 minutes an pour. Set up beautiful. I was shocked how fast so I remade few days later. Again perfect. Stays shiny as you see as she pours it. So no more boiling for 30 minutes for me. I can make on the fly. Love this new old fashion fudge.
This makes me happy! So glad you enjoy the recipe
It’s all thanks to the corn syrup! :)
Thank you 😋❤️🙏🏻👍
You are welcome!
Ohh yeah I finely found someone that made real old fashioned fudge like my granny Opal and my Dad thank you soooooo much
Funny I was just thinking I would like to make some fudge, as a child I made fudge all the time for my family.
Thank you for the great video.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUTTING YOUR RECIPE AND DIRECTIONS UNDERNEATH SO WE CAN HAVE IT FOR LATER
You're welcome!
This fudge looks fantastic. I love how it shines. Thanks for explaining every thing in detail.
My mom made this fudge in Nicaragua, she used unsalted peanuts. She doesn't remember using corn syrup. And we didn't have to wait until Christmas to enjoy it, it was a year round treat😋. This brings back memories💓
I used this fudge recipe for years , it was written on index card for me years ago it was the best warn and tattered couldn't find it one day .
It's been a good 20 years since
THANK YOU FOR FINDING MY RECIPE , AND GIVING IT TO ME ONCE AGAIN .
REAL CANDY FUDGE
You're welcome!
That looks so delicious,I want some
Thank you! You should give it a try!
made your fudge---best recipe EVER! Have made fudge over 50 years; lost my recipe. I happened on yours and tried it. Thank you! Thank you! I made the 6 c sugar size
Happy I could help!
Thank you for sharing your recipe!
Thank you for watching!
That has got to be the best fudge recipe video ever! Just, the most beautiful fudge. Thank you for the video.
joe stockman Thank you so much!! Hope you enjoy your fudge!
just like I was raised on. Can't stand when people call marshmallow crap fudge. Thank you for posting
Melissa Wiltjer Thanks so much for watching!! Enjoy your fudge!
N j Oh l
Down the Jersey Shore where I live, all they know is the creamy softer fudge. Not bad but this type is great.
I agree 100%
LOL!
Thank you so much. I had lost my grandfathers recipe which was the same as yours!! So excited to make this. My favorite memories at the stove making fudge with him.
I'm happy I could help!!!
Great video, you really broke down the steps well and showed what was required for the boiling time.
I'm so happy you found the video helpful!!
It stays glossy. Pretty and yummy. You only one I seen online that cuts center both width and length. Only way to get pieces closely the same. Great job. My Mom made one similar but no Karo syrup. She would beat that fudge for long time. I think the syrup makes big difference. Can't wait to make this.
Thanks for the humidity adjustment. I’m in Louisiana too so I really appreciate that tip. The fudge looks so good. It’s been a very long time since I had real fudge, so I just need a candy thermometer and I’m all set!
Good luck! Let me know how it turns out ☺️
So I liked and subsribed because you break some of the traditional rules and it turns out fine. Me on the other hand have tried grandma's recipe and have invented 30 different kinds of new sugary concrete haha! Well done and something for me to try.
Thank you I love this
My aunt was the one in the family that made the fudge for holidays. She passed and took the recipe with her. I have searched for the recipe, and found some that were close, but they used granulated sugar instead of karoe, and it does make a difference in the taste. It is much better with karoe. This is OLD SCHOOL REAL DEAL. Thank u so much.
I'm so glad to bring old fashioned fudge back to you! Thank you for watching!
My mouth is watering!!!
Real fudge. Not the shortcut version. The only kind I'll eat. Thanks for sharing your grandmother's recipe with us.
Going to try this week, looks like my mom's fudge! She passed in 2018 and never had a written recipe so I've been trying to find something similar, shiny and sets up harder instead of dull and soft. Thank you soo much!
I'm curious, how'd your fudge turn out?
my Mama's fudge was similar but she stirred in a jar of marshmallow fluff after removing it from stove. Wonderful childhood memories. Thank you!
I'm so glad you tuned in!
Thank you for showing this recipe. Looking forward to trying it.
I haven't had fudge like this since I was a kid. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for watching!
that is old fashioned my mom had me make it like that. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you too!
That's just the way I like it - with a little "snap" when you bite it AND nuts! Thanks a lot!
Thank you for watching!
THIS is what I was looking for, thank you! Good old-fashioned FIRM fudge. I knew you were the real deal when I saw that pot!
Love my magnalite pot!
@@JeanninesCraftroom mommy still has this set of pots and nothing can beat them. Or so we think. Thank you for this video
@@pj89-96 They are the best! Thanks for watching!!
My grandmother made this fudge and I would stand by the stove while she was making it. She would test a tiny bit into a cup of water to see if it was ready. I miss her so much and I miss that fudge too. Maybe I will try to make it some day. Thank you for showing this video.
I hope you make it and enjoy it. Merry Christmas!
Thank you! The real fudge, hard and i haven't been able to find a recipe, or anyone who makes it! easy to follow too. Fantastic 😆
MissChris5 I love my grandmother's fudge recipe. It's the best I've ever eaten. Enjoy your fudge!
MissChris5, I agree!! I love the hard fudge. My mom is 89y/o and tries to TELL me how to do it, but I need to watch her, over the yrs it’s been a hit and miss turn out, sometimes we get it and sometimes a flop. My grandma use to make it a lot for a surprise, “Come get the fudge kids” ohhh what a treat! My sister use to make it too, but the Way to do it is always in their head. I give up, Turing to RUclips... so far this looks like the closest to my Grandma’s recipe. We’d always make it in a cast iron skillet though, with the hard ball test. So after watching several channels I think I’m ready to make that perfect batch. The best was when Grandma would put peanut butter in it. Yummy yummy. She would also do marshmallows, walnuts and just heard my Mom say that Grandma would put raisins in it so it might be a little healthier, lol lol. Thank you sharing your Grandma’s recipe. 👍👍👍👍❤️ Merry Christmas 2019
I think this fudge looks like the kind I like. I’ll try it soon. Ty
Hope your fudge was great!
This was my great-grandmother's recipe, passed down to my mother, and we really prefer it to the soft fudge. Yummy!
so this is "firmer" than regular fudge? Just wondering. Is more like a candybar or??
I am SO excited to try this, because you don't have to beat the daylights out of it! :o) Thanks so much for teaching us how to make it. I hope I'm successful. :o)
Hope you enjoy your fudge!
Looks amazing
Looks so delicious! I love fudge!
I wrote down your recipe last year and watched you make it and I made it too. Looked it up again this year just to watch you make it. Thank you so much for playing this video. My mom made this fudge every here for Christmas and she's gone now and it means so much to me to have this recipe.
I understand. One of my favorite Christmas memories is getting a batch of fudge from my grandmother. She is gone too and I miss her so much.
Thank you for sharing your story with me. I'm grateful that you found this video and came back to watch it again.
Merry Christmas to ME! I have been looking for this recipe for about 20 years, this is how my mom and her mom made it. SOOOO GOOD. Doing it Sunday.
Enjoy your fudge!
@@JeanninesCraftroom Many many thanks for posting this. People though i was a little off when I kept asking about how to make hard fudge, down the Jersey shore all they know is the creamy type. My mom learned fro her mom,how to cook this magic. We are Irish and Northern Irish, but my maternal grandmother learned it from her second marriage mother in law,who was from Germany. And hard fudge handles being shipped better.I received some several times I the Army. had so many more battle buddy's when I got some. So happy right now,I might even be crushing on you a little.
I like that pan you used for your fudge....Very nice!
Thank you!
Thank you! My great grandson and I are making this this weekend. Hope to pass it on.
Yay! Hope the two of you have lots of fun and make great fudgey memories!
Your fudge turned out perfect and it didn't take that long. Thank you so very much
Debra Flanagan You're welcome! Thank you for watching and trying the recipe!!
That’s pretty fudge, I’m gonna try this recipe, it’s gonna be great I bet!
I made this fudge for the first time I was very excited I have been trying this for years never could make this until now thank you
Just beautiful. Cheers from Argentina!!
Thank you!!
I guess my mom made smaller batches since she would pour it out on a lightly buttered plate to cool. I sure miss her and the fudge she would make at Christmas.
Yes, I was making a double batch of fudge in this video. I know I miss making fudge with my grandmother. What sweet memories to cherish!
Thanks so much for the video... especially the tip on spraying your cup before putting in the Karo syrup.
Georgia Dobberteen Thanks for watching!
Looks perfect
Feb 2020....girl I made this today and it worked just like you show. I did not stress over sugar crystals on sides. Did not clean sides, or butter sides. My gas stove was on number 3 dial. I started mixing at 10:55 and was completed an pored in pan at 11:30. Wow I was amazed. Started beating right on stove about 5 minutes. Slightly thickened some but still runny an I poured out. So scared it was not ready but it’s fine. Can’t wait to eat it........Texas thanks u. Hope this is helpful.
Congrats! Enjoy your fudge!
I love your video so much that I'm leaving my first RUclips comment. Lol This is the first time I made fudge and it turned out perfectly! I thank you so much for making an instructional video that is so easy to follow. My husband is grateful as he loves fudge and it has taken me 18 years to finally try and make him some. So we both thank you! Wishing you and your's a very Merry and safe Christmas. 🎅🎄🤶
Thank you! And hope you had a very Merry Christmas!
Congratulations on your first RUclips comment 😄👍🏻
Please please let this be like my Grandmas
I hope it is!
Fudge perfected!!! Thank you, your video was a big help.
+Ms Divine Thank you! I'm so glad you found it helpful. It is one of our favorite Holiday treats.
This is the same fudge my mom and grandmother made. It is absolutely delicious! Way better than the marshmallow kind. Mom also added a half cup (for your single batch recipe) of peanut butter after the butter melted in. Yummy!
Lol, truthfully, I like the marshmallow stuff too. Sometimes I just prefer that texture. 😊
Sounds delicious
That's funny...we didn't have a candy thermometer back in the day when my mom made fudge
Girl.....I have made this several times..March Coronavirus madness..... using differ pans.......perfection!!!!!! Well one in small pan turned to sugar but eaten up...no problem. Thank you
Lol, chocolate is always good!
Thank you for this! It looks so delicious! I was looking for an old fashioned chocolate fudge and here you are! Thanks again for sharing this!
Thank you for watching! I'm happy you enjoyed the video.
I’ve just started making fudge and your recipe is the best I have seen. All the others say beat it and beat it, etc. etc. but your is so much easier and so much better. Thanks so much. Merry Christmas to you and your family from Tennessee.
Thank you! Merry Christmas to you too!!
The amount of work it takes to beat the fudge is too much. It is the reason I stopped making fudge.
Thanks, your fudge is beautiful!
ceecee yeatts Thank you!!
Perfect every time. Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
I made your fudge, and it's DELICIOUS. :o) It reminds me VERY MUCH of my mom's. (Hers didn't have the Karo.) I couldn't believe it actually turned out - ha! I'll be taking most of it to church Sunday, but in the meantime ... I'm eating a few pieces, myself. :o) Thanks again, Annette
I'm so happy you enjoyed it and it turned out good. 😁
Thanks for this great recipe Jeannine. Your instructions are the best. I live in a very dry climate so I decided to boil to just under the soft ball stage. It turned out perfect. … just like my mom used to make 😊
Hello there! I saw this recipe and had to check it out!!! New subscriber here. My Mom made fudge like this and I always wanted to make it!!! I will try your recipe!!! Thank you for sharing! Happy New Year!!!
Happy New year to you as well!
Thank you, this is the recipe my mom & I made,. I couldn't even find it on Hershey's web site. Theirs wasn't showing the Karo & I know that goes in it. We never used a candy thermometer, just kept checking for soft ball.
Thank you & Merry Christmas
You're welcome and Merry Christmas to you!
(i used your recipe and watched your video 5 times) lol here is my story. it was christmas eve night 2020, i had everything measured and ready to go. then i spilt the only can of milk i had, so i added whole milk and 1 cup of sour cream. then i forgot to put in coco after i dipped it out a couple , (yes i was having one of those lampoons christmas moments lol ) anyway i put the boiler back on the stove added the coco . it was the best fudge , everyone could not stop eating it. anyway they got up set because the 4 no coco ones turn out to be the best pralines and they kept asking where did i hide the rest of the pralines. i said in the fudge. lol. God bless and have a wonderful new year and may 2021 bring many blessing.
That is the best fudge story I've ever read! God bless you too!
Thank you so much for sharing this
great receipt...
It was truly my pleasure!
Thank you for this video. My grandmother passed several years ago, and she used to make fudge every Christmas. Haven’t had it since. Gonna try making this for my family tonight.
Madison Freeman Hope you and your family enjoy it!
Jeannine's Craft Room I️ keep burning it. Do you stir constantly?
Madison Freeman you do have to keep stirring it until the sugar melts completely and the mixture starts bubbling. Then only occassionally after that. It sounds like you have unresolved sugar sticking to the bottom of the pot or your pot us not a heavy enough aluminum or it's cooking to a higher heat than necessary. Any one of these can cause the fudge to burn. Light weight pots do not conduct heat the same way heavier ones do. Working in the right pot really helps.
I loved this video thank you for sharing..my grandmother used to make this for us kids it was better than any candy we got
April Morgan Thanks for watching! Grandmother's always make the best stuff!! Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!
Very nice!!!
Thank you so much for posting this you have helped me out soooo much fudge has always been difficult for me but after this I feel like I can make my next batch turn out better
April Morgan I'm so happy I could help!
Thank you very much! I lost my Mom's recipe for this and have looked everywhere for a replacement, the only difference is she would add peanut butter while cooling down! My kids and I loved her fudge and we are trying it today! Thanks again!
There's two things I'd like to try when making fudge and adding peanut butter is one and adding caramel is the other. Sounds delicious!
Hi hank you so much, looks absolutely delicious!!!!
Thank you!
My grandmother made fudge at every holiday. She was going to teach me how to make it, but never did due to us living in different cities. This was a very easy to understand video. We will see how mine turns out once it is cooled.
Well, I did something wrong. It is more of a taffy like consistency. Any thoughts?
Rose Briar Yes, I've had this happen as well. You didn't get it hit enough. When this happens you can put it back in the pot and heat it back up. Sometimes you have to heat it a little past the soft ball stage if you're having a humid or warm day. I've had to out many batches back in the pot to reheat it. Just add a little milk to help the fudge melt again. Good luck!!
Jeannine.. Thank you for your quick reply!! I will give it a try!! GB!!🙌❤️
Aww darling, thats one clumpy fudge.
I’m gonna try this today to make fudge for Christmas 🎅. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Making some right now. Hope it turns out well.
I hope it was great!
Great video! I will be making soon. Thanks for sharing!
Enjoy your fudge!
YUMMY DELICIOUS! THANK YOU FOR SHARING
Thank you for watching!
A lot of old fashioned fudge recipes have the last step as beating or stirring the fudge till it goes from glossy to matte. This is where I have trouble. I am glad yours doesn’t have this step. Trying this tomorrow. Wish me luck.
Mrudula Putcha Good luck! Thanks for watching!!
My grandmother never used corn syrup in her boiled sugar fudge. These types of fudge for me is the best in the world because I grew up with a grandmother making it. My mother even made a pan one night and it set so hard that we would chipping it off in the kitchen eating it and then laughing. I wouldn't be quite so rude or angry sounding about marshmallow fudge it just isn't my thing.:-)
What a great memory ❣️. Thank you for sharing it.
This almost sounds like what my dad used to make...he called it candy. Only he poured it on a buttered plate, very thin layer and sometimes set it outside to cool (in winter that is). I can't remember if he sliced it or broke it up into pieces. It was so good! He passed away before I could get the recipe. :(
angels12a I hope it's the same! Give it a try and let me know. Good luck!
My mom who passed away a few yrs ago used to make fudge from a recipe book from the 50's. It was called 5 minute fudge for the girls. I remember it had Hershey's cocoa, evaporated milk and 16 marshmallows, and sugar of course. But it didn't have Karo that I recall. Anyway I just LOVED her version of fudge and it always set up. It was slick as glass and had a crunchy sugary texture (because she scraped the sides of the bowl as she stirred) and it was slick as glass on the top. It shined like it was an ice skating rink. That's the fudge I love the best. But I will try it your way without the Karo or the marshmallows and see if it sets up. I've made it at least 4 different times and it never did set up like hers did. After she put in the marshmallows, it almost set up too quickly!
sunshinegirl1967 It sounds to me like the fudge your mom made was more like "fantasy fudge". It's pretty easy to make and almost always sets up properly. You might try searching for that recipe also. Good luck!!
Thanks! Yes it was similar to Fantasy Fudge which called for the liquid marshmallow cream in a jar. I'm fixing to try a very small batch of your recipie either tonight or tomorrow. I can't wait!
Oh I actually use 1/2 cup cocoa and it’s a milk chocolate.we like it better. Stay safe... Houston hanging on. God Bless
That's the idea, make it like you like it.
TFS looks delicious
Beautiful and your instructions are great. I'm going to make this fudge.
Thank you so much!
This look so good, thank you.
Thank you for watching!!
My mother used this recipe many years ago and I haven't used it in a long time. Your the first video I looked up and it's what she used.
Only defence was she used walnuts and coconut.
Plus she used cold water to judge when the fudgecwas done lol guess she couldn't aford the thermometer.
Dan Swan Cold water is an excellent way to test the doneness of your fudge! I like her variations. They sound yummy!

Hi Jeanine, I am so excited to have this recipe. I made it at Christmastime and it was wonderful. I'm wondering how I might turn this into a chocolate peanut butter version then also a rocky road version. Two of our family favorites.
Thanks so much for your recipe!!
I would just add the peanut butter or other ingredients after you take the fudge off of the stove and before you pour it in the pan. Another option would be to put your Rocky road toppings in the bottom of the pan and gently pour your fudge over it. I tried a salted caramel version this past Christmas. I melted caramels and a little milk in the microwave and swirled it on top if my hot fudge that I had poured in the pan. Then I sprinkled a little sea salt on top. I really like your Rocky road idea. Let me know how it turns out. :)
the peanut butter will melt into the fudge
This recipe is different from what's on the Hershey can. Which theirs is good also.
*This hard fudge is the best! But, using a 1/2 cup of Hershey cocoa tastes great, too. Saves a little money!*
Hey sugar! Thank you so much for sharing this!! I've been trying to find a recipe that doesn't use marshmallow since that isn't really "classic" fudge.
Do we not need to beat this until the gloss is gone?
very good video, thanks' soooooo much for making this video, the recipe used to be on the can of cocoa." Hersheys' ".
Martha Galbreath Thank you for watching! Merry Christmas!!
I haven't had home made fudge in years that looks amazing I like almonds or walnuts, but I would have to make it with glucose syrup and no vanilla.
Let me know how it turns out with the glucose syrup. My husband is diabetic and I'm always trying to adapt recipes for him.
I’m so excited to try this recipe! It looks just like the fudge my grandmother made every Christmas. Do you have a link to instructions?
super momrio.
Hey Jeanene, have you ever tried making a triple batch at one time?
Wait.......what??? No cold water in sink to cool to 110 then whip whip whip then watch for shine to leave then get out of pan Quick. My first try on that was a fail. Wow gonna watch this few more times to make sure I did not miss something. God Blessfrom Texas
