  • We all have dream games: Strange ideas or mixed genres that will likely never see the light of day. Stiles' dream game was to mix a strategy RPG with the storytelling and dialogue systems of a Bioware or Obsidian RPG, and Lost Eidolons seemed to have been targeting that very niche!

    I play this on my steamdeck when Im trying to sleep and it usually puts me to sleep within an hour. Its a pretty good game to play on a handheld. Maybe not if your gaming on your PC lol.

    I love this game. I thought the story was more interesting and more mature than that of fire emblem and the combat is lots of fun. I wish there were more games like it.

    Interesting game, I think, but there kind of is a lot of competition for this genre on PC I think to really have people jump to it when it's not among the best of them.

      There are a lot of strategy games on PC, but not a lot that fit the more specific 'Fire Emblem-Like' niche as far as I'm aware. That said, yeah, I agree that a lot of people will be better served by another title. Thank you for watching and commenting!

    I got bored of Baldue's gate 3. Why im looking for indie games to play.

      This is a good one! I highly recommend it!! For gameplay and story. Just know yes there is quite a bit of busywork in the camp inbetween all that.

    I restarted that same battle and did the exactly the same thing, and missed that 2nd chance again, had to brutal force the boss like u did lol. But I LOVE this game nevertheless!!

    That's a bit of a shame. Hopefully some of those smaller issues can be fixed. But yeah, the... shall we say, seeming lack of self-awareness of the narrative probably can't be remedied. There's always next time I suppose! Hopefully they get that opportunity.

    yeah. the story was soooo. blech. The writers obviosly favored the villains more than the heroes. The villains were more interesting and competent. The heroes felt weak and oh so stupid. And I couldnt even make plot decisions to make them act smarter.
    I just felt like I was stuck with stupid, weak characters who were destined to fumble their way to the end of the story no matter what. I guess the wanted to make it feel like you were facing a challenge.... but it felt like... AFTER you beat a tough challenge at the toughest difficulty the game would say to you..."Boy, we totally screwed that up, huh? We suck!"... The motivation to go above and beyond drained away when no matter what feats you do, your forces just barely squeak by in the story.
    If you like powerless fantasy, this game is for you though. your perfect battle will go unnoticed throughout the game as your army runs for their lives again and again. As your leader loses in the story over a over.

    The title of this video is hilarious 😂 A shame, it's been on my radar for a while. I play games a lot for story, bummer to see that it's sorely lacking

    1:05Yes, a balanced mix out of XCOM and DRGON AGE ORIGINS also High Classs Tactics and a BRreathtaking Storyline that had been juciy
    I guess the missing true connection between Tactical Choices and Storyline is due to the total desinterest of , in my mind, especially younger players just wanting to butcher around. Some of those examples for ignoring the storyline you can find in several RPG Let´s Plays if you look around
    Thanks for the very valuable tips in your overview of the game

    Might try Baldur's Gate 3 eventually, not sure though mostly because BG 2 is my all time favorite game so playing something with that titles feels... off since it feels disingenuous. Also I play Pathfinder in real life now so I'm not sure how well I'll work with 5th edition rules

    • @limabarreto911
      @limabarreto911 Год назад +1

      Well, it was not made by the original devs, Larian got the license, among other reasons, because it would be popular, so it will feel a little off no matter what.

    • @StilesReviews
      @StilesReviews  Год назад +2

      It feels very different from the first two Baldur's Gate games, but it doesn't feel like the name is arbitrary, which I was worried it would be.I think they did a very good job. I'm actually playing it right now while writing this reply haha.
      Honestly if I were to compare it to any other game, I would compare it to Dragon Age: Origins, though with turn-based combat.

    Is there an option to skip animations or speed them up?

    • @StilesReviews
      @StilesReviews  8 месяцев назад +2

      You can hold down a button to speed up the animations, and I BELIEVE there was an option to make units move faster between turns, but I don't quite remember.

    Not sure if you're pronouncing it right? But I've never heard that word spoken TBH.
    Anyway, I was intrigued by this game but it sounds like it's not worth the aggravation. Probably will not be buying it unless it goes to the bargain bin.

      It is good though! And I do play my games for story. I found it much more engaging than fire emblem. You can see the low budget at times, but w/e.
