Val Kilmer and Warwick Davis talk through the special features on the 25th Anniversary Blu-ray re-release of Willow.
Amazing that at seventeen Warwick convincingly played a father of two children. Also that he hardly seems to have aged a day since then
i was convinced!
Val Kilmer is hilarious! these two make an unbeatable team
They're like Mel GIbson and Danny Glover.
very good observation! totally
Agreed
Val’s health declined so much over the past few years. His voice is practically gone from cancer
I couldn't agree more! Love to see them together 🙂
Willow is one of the best fantasy movies ever made. I hope they make another.
Disney has the rights, so let's hope they shoot for a Sequel instead of a remake, but sadly we live in the dimension of reboots, will have Tyrion play Willow...
Ron Howard and Warwick Davis have both made comments in the last half year that lead me to think a sequel is not only possible, but maybe even probable.
Considering how huge Game Of Thrones is, how big the spin off series to that will probably be, and how popular other movies like Lord Of The Rings and Harry Potter have been... I honestly don't see how they don't make a sequel to Willow. Hell, given how Hollywood loves to overdo the shit out of everything I don't see how they don't come along and make a trilogy of films.
@@captainsmirk6901 I hope your right. I'd be down. As long as they stay true to the original and not make it all gimmicky hollywood. Val kilmer wouldnt be eye candy anymore but he cold still be a great lead. I want it to focus on warwick. Cross fingers your right.
The sequel should be In Production now
@@Gonk,
Oh god, please no!
This movie was one of the best things in my childhood
Darrin Knode me too man. I tried to show it to my kids the other day On blu ray........ they hated it and turned it off after 15 mins........ little bastards...... peks😏
Same here ✌️
@@rooroo8767 lol!!!!!!!!!
He'll yeah! Before lord of the rings
totally
"You don't call you don't write"
LOL out of the blue!
“Years of Abuse” 😂 LEGENDS these guys
This movie was waaaaay underrated. Casting was perfect. The music score was perfect. Very good movie. One of my fav parts that is seldom mentioned is the Brownies. They were hilarious to me.
The Brownies are hilarious!
General Kael was boss with that Skull helmet.
As a child of the 80’s I completely loved this movie, Willow was everything to me as a kid.
Kevin pollack was one of the brownies
I loved the character Lug! He was hilarious as well, and speaks loudly to this generation with his infamous and true line: "HE'S NOT A WOMAN!!"
It's so sad what has happened to Val. It's hard to watch the Willow series & hear references to his character knowing we won't likely see him.
Watching Willow was my youth. Prince of Egypt. Val Kilmer is my hero. His iconic voice. What he now has lost. sad
I just made a huge mistake and thought this video was new and I was beaming smiling the whole 3 minutes because I thought Val Kilmer was better. Omg the let down when I saw it was 9 years ago…
@@wickkidda I felt that way too for a second...
It's hard to watch this new Willow because of how bad it is.
@@cptpepper7731 it is pretty bad overall. The first 2 episodes I thought had potential to get on track to be good, but ep. 3 was horrible. Episode 4 however I actually kinda liked. But I don't expect that will be the norm.
The younger cast seem very inexperienced as actors & it contrasts badly against the seasoned actors. Plus many of the younger cast characters are so one dimensional this far.
The odd addition of modern slang & music is a strange choice too but while I will give them props for trying something different in fantasy I don't think it's really working
"George Lucas...never really hear about him anymore...sort of faded..." ROFL
Half of that statement is true.
seen an interview with George Lucas where he said that he just wants to look after his family now and Focus more on them as he's getting old now that's why he handed the rights of Lucas films over to Disney
OUUUUCH!!! lol
Look who's talking, Val.
@@tortugash4491 He was obviously being sarcastic, as George has obviously never gone anywhere.
Madmartigan: "UUUUU!!!! I'm really scared!!! No... don't.... HELP, THERE'S A PECK WITH AN ACORN POINTING AT ME!!!!"
ya'll need jesus
Bre Fujimoto Yes. He will protect me from the acorn. :)))
Bre Fujimoto Me too!..after I sort out the whole acorn scene!
@@clairemadeinheaven it's a line from the movie its hilarious
“HA....Peck! Peck Peck Peck Peck Peck Peck....PECK!!!”
Whoa whoa whoa Willow was 17? and they made him a father, I thought he was in his early 30s not 17, no wonder he's looked the same for so long in so many movies. and Val Kilmer was a badass as Madmartigan, love that movie :)
That's exactly what I thought! I never would have guessed he was 17 and especially because he was playing a husband and father of 2.
@@mickbeth2011 Agreed, like Gonk said,I had always just assumed that he was in his 30s(or even his 20s)but I was similarly surprised when I first found out that Warwick Davis was still a teenager(and not even 18 or 19)and playing a married husband and father of two.
Back in the Dark Ages people married and had kids much younger than today.
Warwick was 17. But Willow clearly wasn't.
5 years earlier he was Wicket in Return of the Jedi which would have made him 12. Willow was his first major movie and he held the whole thing together very well. The fact he was 17 just makes the experience of the movie even better.
I love the fucking hell out of Val Kilmer as Madmartigan!!!! I am glad I finally found an interview of him talking about that film. :) I love WIllow so much.
scottjulie27 Mumbo, Jumbo...I am hungry. Go find me something to eat.
We are not afraid of you!
NOW!!
(Brownies flee, screaming)
William Shaw "We are not afraid of you!!!" :)
NOW!!!
Thank you Val Kilmer and Warwick Davis
Val cracks me up! 😆
This. This is how I want to remember them, forever.
Rest in peace James Horner. You will be remembered..
I loved this movie then and still love it now! One of the great fantasy movies of all time.
Regardless of Kilmer's state of sobriety in this video his comic timing is absolutely impeccable! These two guys need to be in a movie together again. Absolute gold!!
Sadly with his throat cancer, and he being not able to speak now without a voice box, I seriously doubt we'd ever see this again.. not in a movie or show anyway.. 😕
So it was the cigarettes and the booze that gave him the cancer?? Maybe, very likely!
@@k-dogg9086Val was in a movie recently😁
@@bxpress6507 3 in fact over the last couple of years.
Val Kilmer, what great guy and actor. He was an amazing Jim Morrison.
I feel like Val Kilmer is still in character
It's nice seeing these two together again.
Yes! ❤️
Willow was one of the greatest movies of its time great soundtrack....sad they couldn't do a sequel!
WHY NOT :(
Brady the Defiled
I don't know it is still popular but....
SHADOWWOLF77 Probably thanks to George Lucas.
Brady the Defiled
It was Ron Howard that sort of made the movie but with help from Lucas.
And now if they ever make another Willow movie we'd have Disney meddling in it.
SHADOWWOLF77 Yeah... Shit. It's one of my favorite movies of all-time.
Val Kilmer is the fuckin man in Willow & Heat!
Wow this was filmed on the Life's Too Short set! Same restaurant used in val kilmer's last scene in the special (finale) around 45mins in!
Val Kilmer drunk? No, no, no. It's quite clear that he was hit with the Dust of Broken Heart.
Tonight! let me worship you in my arms.. You are my sun, my moon, my star lit sky.
Nice
@@PeaceEpieces I still think he was overacting to distract her so he could get the baby LOL
@@aprildannettegosa5381 I thought it was true love 🥰
Coke?
You can tell the chemistry is still there....we need Willow 2!
Coming soon on Disney Plus.
Back then sure but today? They'd turn it into shit so Id rather it be left alone.
@@knightghost1782 the trailer surely doesnt look like shit.
@@knightghost1782 Disney doesn't make movies, they are publishers. Blame writers and directors. Disney these days knows how to hire great directors and writers, allowing them full creativity. Long gone are the days of jj abe and Kathleen kennedy. SW is going amazing, so is marvel and pixar. In fact, they are some of the most watched and highest rated entertainment there is. Willow 2023 is coming soon and it looks fantastic.
@@PapagenoMF holy shit, you called it. Are you a wizard?
Awesome film!! When Kilmer comes rolling down the hill inside the giant snowball....just couldn't stop laughing all those years ago....and still today.😁🙌🙌❤
People thinking the new series is "too jokey" obviously forget this literal cartoon moment of the movie. LOL
This is really cute. I like that they are friends.
"George Lucas, you never hear about him anymore, sorta just faded..."
Here in 2021. Just watched this recently. It really did hold up well. Such a great role for Warwick Davis😍
I just watched the film again the other day. Still love it after almost 35 years.
I thought all of his roles were great. I had no idea how much that guy was a part of my childhood until I watched a documentary on him.
I LOVED this film Val ! Just wished your marriage to Joanne had lasted. So glad you have a great relationship with your children.
Willow was a huge part of my childhood, I grew up watching and loving the movie and just seeing these two together again warms my heart cause of the nostalgia I'm feeling.
I need willow 2 like right now! With all original people again! Would be amazing i think!
Yeah! I doubt about that. If they have another Willow 2 movie. They will consider it.
And James Horner :(
His score elevated this movie.
Antun sturlic what are you ?
@Antun Šturlić it has not do not speak that into existence I heard he was getting better
@Antun Šturlić Has it really? Or are you just making that up? He received chemotherapy for the cancer and Val has said that he no longer has throat cancer. But the damage has been done to his throat and to his voice and Kilmer has said that he is suffering(because he has to wear a tracheostomy tube to help him breath).I don't know how much longer he'll live in such a state and if he even still has an acting career but I wish him all the best and I loved a lot of his movies from the 1980s and 1990s.
Beautiful movie, and... I had a crush on Sorsha back in the days... greetings from Italy!!!
For a three minute commercial that was really entertaining! I wanna watch the movie again now
Brilliant film I still love watching it, everybody loved madmartigan
Kilmer has such a lovely voice to listen to..
Well,he did.Since battling throat cancer,by his own admission,Kilmer's voice is not what it used to be.
It was the role of his life. And no one could do it better then he did. Without him the magic would have been gone.
Yeah I agree it was a like a j fox /Mcfly moment . It was meant to be
Love that hug Val gave Warwick at the end 🥺😌
This is brilliant. Val is so deadpan funny in this. You can see he has a lot of fun with Warwick.Glad they like each otr so much. The Life's Too Short Special is comedy perfection with Warwick and Val. :-)
I love Willow so much it is so amazing.
Warwick Davis seems like a pretty classy guy...I have a feeling this retrospective chat wasn't the easiest to film, and he does it well...kudos.
This made me cry oh how such good friendship is just a beautiful thing ❤ W.i.L.L.O.W
2:34 you don’t call, you don’t write lol Kilmer was absolutely fucking with him lol. Hilarious. Sounds like two good friends who haven’t seen each other in ages lol
awww this is one of the best movies ever thanks guys
I absolutely love this. Willow's one of my favourite films and it's like seeing it come to life again :)
I wish they would make a game similar to Skyrim, but taking place in the world of Willow. That would be epic.
If you play as Willow you can add 100 hours of play time from all the walking.
If I win the Lotto I'll make that happen, hopefully Ron Howard and George Lucas will let me.
Great movie. And lové these two guys together, good chemistry. I think Warwivk is a great comodic actor.
The chemistry though no wonder willow was one of my faves as a kid I had it taped on vcr with the borrowers I’ll never forget that
Val Kilmer is so awesome at making the situation awkward. Brilliant.
I adore Willow! I love how deadpan Val Kilmer is acting here.
Willow is a great film. I got the blu-ray! Deleted scenes are quite hilarious.
Willow is one of my favorite movies. I know almost every qoute.
Have a very special memory of seeing this movie in the theater with my mom, just the two of us. And happily my kids love it as well.
This is gold!
Willow is and will always be my very best favorite movie. I have watched it over and over. I think I'll go and get my DVD and watch it right now.
One of my favorite films growing up and still enjoy it to this day, must have now on Blu-Ray!
shamelessly i admit- i watched willow so much when i was younger that i can still quote along with the movie to this day.
One of my all time favorite movies!!
I just found this movie on Disney plus and now I wonder why did it take me 35 years to find this! It’s a brilliant movie! ❤
I was this movie when I was a young man I'm 40 Enjoyed it and I still one of my favorite from my Childhood
I've been watching Willow for so many times did I get even counted
Best movie ever be made
The best action due from my childhood. They're so different but it was amazing. "I just saved this infant's life!!!" 🤣
I absolutely cherish this movie. Glad they never ruined it with a sequel.
Or, shudder, a remake.
Or sequel series that plays Metallica in it and is super woke. Oh… wait.
I still remember getting the Blu Ray for Christmas back in 2013, I had already had the DVD since I was six when I first watched “Willow”. It’s my favourite fantasy movie and I used to watch it religiously as a kid.
Is it just me or does Val Kilmer seem totally baked here?
Listening to Val Kilmer's voice prior to developing throat cancer is a treat.
Its crazy how much he changed, this was just 8 years ago. Val was 53, and did not look bad for his age at all. But the cancer really got him.
This was filmed at the same time as their scenes in "Life's Too Short"!!!!!
It's the same Italian Restaurant Val dines and dashes in, hah.
Man I remember watching this movie in early 2000 still watch it today
Man Willow was such a good 80s flick! Dark and creepy but fun and magical!
warwick is in so many movies people have watched its unreal, some of the best and most iconic movies over the last 2 decades.
My favorite movie as a kid. Also Val seems to be on something here.
Seeing Val Kilmer now is so sad, I'm such a big fan of him and to see what cancer has done to him is terrible.
Was a teenager when WILLOW was in theatres 💞 I just showed my 6 year old granddaughter this movie classic 😘💕🇱🇷miss the GOOD OLE DAYS...VAL STILL GORGEOUS 💙
Willow has always been one of my childhood favorites and still is a movie I enjoy today.
Willow will always be my favorite movie till this day I still watch it over and over
I used to like this movie as a kid but it's been so long. Time to watch it again!
I love Willow. One of my favorite films ever. I know almost every line from Willow.
what are you going to look like if this works
i am young and beautiful
concentrate willow! :D:D:D
I could listen to a commentary with these two throughout the entire movie.
Love this so much.
I grew up on this movie.
Willow and Jurassic park were my Christmas presents when they came out on DVD, I was happy about it too.
This is one of the best movies i ever seen👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Around this time my hubby and I went to see Willow at The Egyptian (a Seattle area movie theater)...he had seen Willow in theater but I never got to until this particular night! Great times!
This thing make me really happy.
Willow is one of my favorite all time movies. These guys are brilliant and HILARIOUS.
二人の姿がこんな形で見られるなんて信じられない😂嬉しい☺️
New series is enjoyable...LOVE SEEING THIS AND WARRICK AGAIN
Love that Movie the Best !!!! Thank You so Much you guys are Great in it ♥️
I really , really , really love that movie :)
One My favorite movies of all time ❤ so much medieval fun and fantasy
I love this movie so much! And Davis and Kilmer's characters! And of course Sorsha
I watched it every day one summer even twice a day, love everything still about this movie, plus I had a huge crush on Val
I'm so going to get this on blue ray
I quite like that it never got a sequel or turned into a franchise, most the time its more about money and the spirit of the original us lost, Willow is special so I'm glad it stayed that way
Yeah, but Lucas trilogies back then were awesome. It would have been great to have a trilogy.
I don’t know why this movie was such a staple of my childhood but I’ll always enjoy it no matter how cheesy it seems today haha
I loved this movie as a child. I love this movie as an adult
🙌🏼❤️🙌🏼
2:33 died laughing... Kilmer needs a TV show.. such a unique personality
Sadly that'll never happen, not with his throat cancer and that He lost his voice box too. He's fortunate to be alive! Let's hope the cancer stays in remission!
This is the cutest thing I've watched today
Sonia Gallego "you don't call, you don't write.." - Val Kilmer
Willow was and remains awesome.
One of my favorite movies of all time! I always wondered what it would be like, if Elora came back to visit Willow as an adult.
That was funny, loved the film.
