21:30 I think you are talking about kolonya (it's made from lemon and contains about 60% - 80% alcohol)....it's used as refreshment and also as a hand sanitizer, for example, after a meal. You can used it on your hands and face (but make sure to avoid the eyes because of the alcohol!!!!). If you go into any supermarket you can find many different brands that produce kolonya...buy it when you get the chance, it's smells awesome and is a good reminder of your time in Turkey.
I visited Hagia Sophia in 2019 when it was still a museum with all the decos of an orthodox Christian church. Beautiful 😍 Erenler Hookah is an interesting place to have Turkish tea and coffee ☕️ and see how the locals enjoy their hookah.
Wow that sounds amazing! That sounds very interesting and it would have been great to check the place out. We might add this to the list for when we return to the beautiful country of Turkey. ☺️
Absolutely love watching your video! Next time you visit, you should definitely check out the Kadıköy or Fatih areas they're safer and incredibly beautiful. Keep up the great content! 😊
I’m Turkish and even i fell for the shoe polishing scam when i was new in Istanbul. Dont feel silly :) My advise if you visit again Turkey, dont enter every phone shop. Enter only the shops which are official Turkcell, Vodafone or Türk Telekom shops. The other small ones are unfortunately scamming sometimes tourists bcz tourists not knowing.
Nice Vlog and ahahaha that you give the Shoe shier money is realy sad , but its mostly only in Istanbul a scam in other Citys I dont see and hear about ;) . Wish you good and safe trip can recommended the Vlog from "Berry Istanbul tips " she is living in Istanbul but comes from Mexico and makes Videos abou everything ( Scams, Restaurants, sightseeing places etc.)
Yes, we felt very silly after we got scammed but lesson learnt for next time! I have heard about her vlogs and watched a few since our time in Istanbul, very interesting 😊
You should visit Sarıyer district. You can go there by metro and then with a bus. And you can turn back with ferry so you'd get to see whole bosphorus too.
The more difficult one is when you are asked to take their photo and then they drop the phone and ask for ridiculous amounts. Its difficult to refuse someone who asks you to take their photo.
We stayed in Sisli (we think that is the name of the suburb, near Taksim Square). We are no longer there, but have since learnt maybe it wasn't the best choice of neighbourhoods?
@@TheRoamingPickels haha it absolutely was not the best choice. Next time try Arnavutköy/Beşiktaş, way more modern and westernized. You won't regret it!
You're in the wrong neighbourhood. Go live in Kadıköy side instead of Tarlabaşı where drug dealing events occuring often. Just a sincere recommendation from an Istanbulian.
Wow, we definitely weren't aware of that when we booked our accommodation and thank you sincerely for the advice. We are glad nothing happened whilst we were staying there 😊

51 AUD for a basic sim card is just straight up a scam. I feel ashamed seeing lovely tourists being taken advantage of like this..
Yes we thought it was a bit much too and it was hard to part with the money but we have since learned that it was another scam 😅
