Boy, it's incredible just how colorful everything is! Istanbul is truly an Eastern tale breathing with roses and gems just like hundreds of years ago. Even brick walls seem to have some sort of magic to them, certainly more than concrete jungles of modern megacities.
So, this is where I'm going in April as an excursion and now I suddenly feel like I need a map, a conversion calculator, some ear plugs and an extrovert. Maybe two extroverts.
I am in Istanbul for a few days staying within walking distance from the Spice and Grand Bazaars. It’s already obvious that the prices for everything is cheaper outside each bazaar and clearly local Turkish people shop there. Great presentation. Thanks.
@@WaypointofView price much more expesive there then askaray so should advice not buy there we say if coast 500 lira then can find askaray for 100 lira
What a fun video. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful video that I thought that was very helpful.❤ Definitely going to check out grand bazaar!!!🥰🇹🇷
i am turkish from antalya my advice for the tourists is don't buy anything from the bazaar because they will scam you those prices are 5 times more expensive most off this bazar bullshit is import real handmade stuff are sold bij Turks in little shops not those people I have not seen 1 turk in this video only afghans, syrians, arabs so then you already know that local people have no business there don't be too friendly with shop owners and don't pay more than half name 1 amount if they don't agree then you walk away immediately
@@angelpadilla8035 The Grand Bazaar is closed on Sundays but otherwise both bazaars stay very very busy! Going in the mornings when they first open can help but by midday the crowds are very thick in and around both bazaars...
Happy 12th anniversary. If you find it difficult to make Turkish coffee with a coffee pot at home, I suggest you try the electric Turkish coffee machine. I use it at home.
Thanks so much!! And thank you for the recommendation on the electric coffee machine! Myles has been really practicing his Turkish coffee skills with a Cezve but it is not easy 😂😂
With 61 covered streets grand bazaar is amazing overall Istanbul is beautiful I visit every year legacy ottoman hotel is walking distance it’s a must visit city
Hi. Great video. Hoping to travel next week. If there was one place in Karikoy which has great souveniors, like Fridge magnets and small lamps, which would it be?
That’s so great to hear! We hope you have an amazing trip! We would love to hear how it goes! We just had family visiting us and it was so fun to explore the city with them! We hope you love it!
Yes .. i went to turkey 2 time's before and after covid... everytine i bought souvenirs from outside of grand bazar.... probebly from eminouel market... In grand bazar table runner was 180 tl after bargain... whether in eminoiel market it was only 60 tl ❤ 🇹🇷 fro. Bangladesh
If you are gonna buy antiques from Istanbul, Grand Bazaar is not your place. U should go to Kadıkoy for it which is in the Anatolian side of Istanbul. There are real antiques for cheap prices.
You guys make the best videos on Turkey. We visiting in Oct for 3.weeks and also spending a week in Kadikoy. Looking for a very affordable accommodation with or without breakfast. Can u assist please
This is really helpful coz we always get frustrated because we often get overwhelmed when looking for souvenirs to take back home. At least now we know what to expect. How about cash? Is it better to change your money in Turkey or in the place that you came from? In our case we are here in Germany and we have Euros.
Did you check in your home country if the rings you bought are real gold?? Cause i bought rings in grand bazar but turned out to be fake. Turkish people themselves don't buy from there
Actually Grand Bazaar is one of the best places to buy gold. People go there just to buy it. Ther are places u can get ur stuff checked, too. If the seller gets caught they pay a big fine. U were just unlucky😊
Your video is awesome and very informative, but you guys need to speak a little bit slowly. Hispanic people like me are also enjoying your video. Thanks
would those spices also be available in supermarkets? would they be cheaper in a supermarket? what are the good supermarkets and where are they located?
Where can I buy cheap souvenir keychains and refrigerator magnets, in Istanbul? How much is the average price of those keychains and magnets? Around USD1?
I just bought the turkey itinerary package and what a value for the price. The Google maps thing is very cool. I didn't get the istanbul one by we're moving there. I might get it anyway but we will see the sites of course. Do you have to get a turkish driver's license? Are the cars all stick shifts? How do you stay so slender eating baklava all week?
Hey! The entire Istanbul guide is included inside the Turkey guide so no need to buy both! Also we just use our US drivers license when we rent a car.. and you can definitely find an automatic if needed. And lol when you’re exploring Istanbul, I’m sure you’ll walk plenty to counter balance all of the baklava!😂😂 Hope you have a great trip!!
@@WaypointofView hello. So at taksim and osmenbey stations u can't change language. Also taksim only takes exact 50 tl. There's a way to load istanbulkart wo going down metro. If you know this please lmk. The turks are so lovely that I was helped with the card 2x.
Does anyone know a good place to buy Turkish towels? That’s my souvenir of choice but have no idea what a good price and quality is to look for. Am in Istanbul for another5days if anyone replies in time. I’m sure the quality will vary but have no idea.
Where are you planning to visit? It is very hot here in Istanbul currently and we would expect that to continue into September. It has also been very windy which to be honest I don’t really remember that being the case as much last summer.
The exchange rate is continually changing. Prices for most items continue to go up in TL to mirror the inflation. It is very hard for those who are being paid in TL. If you are exchanging foreign currency like the Euro or USD then your buying power is strong in Turkey. In the past 2 years we have seen the exchange for the USD go from 8 to 18 to now over 20TL. Prices have gone up in TL a lot but $20 usd still buys a similar amount of food in Turkey as it did 2 years ago.
Hi! Foods are generally starts from 50TL to 250TL per person so actually 10 dollars is a maximum amount for a high quality food. But if you'll go to actual restaurant probably prices may go up to 20 dollars per person which is about 538TL right now. It's really so much. Probably you can encounter that price only in fancy places. For example Yesterday I ate a nice fettucini alfredo with truffe oil and mushroom and it cost 5 dollars with a lemonade.
@@hal_jordan2814 Yes absolutely, we were just using $20 USD as an example because we have another video where we show what all 2 people can buy for $20 USD in one day... and it's A LOT! ☺At the restaurants we typically go to, we spend around $8 - $13 USD on average (total) for 2 people.
