At 66, you'd think Pat Quinn might be ready for retirement, but no, he wants to get back behind an NHL bench. So, what's his story? Well, in 1968, he made the NHL - joining the Toronto Maple Leafs. Now, as far as his playing days go, Pat is probably best remembered for a huge hit on Bobby Orr in the '69 playoffs. He played nine years in the NHL but his career ended when he fell off a skateboard and shattered his leg. So in 1977, Pat got a gig as an assistant coach with the Philadelphia Flyers. Two years later, he was head coach and led the Flyers to the Stanley Cup finals. From there, he coached the L.A. Kings, picked up a law degree and then, went to Vancouver to become President, GM and coach of the Canucks. In '94, he went to the finals again but the Canucks lost to the New York Rangers. Next, Pat went to Toronto and spent 7 seasons coaching the Leafs. He left in 2006 and was asked to coach our juniors this past year - leading the team to its 5th straight gold medal.

RIP Pat Quinn from all hockey fans here in Ireland. True Irish legend!
"May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
    May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand."

Man that was great. Seeing this, and then seeing him last March at the ring of Honour ceremony... Sure was tough seeing him ill and looking so fragile. :(

You don't need a cup or a ring, to be a champion. Quinn was one of the absolute greats. RIP, Mr. Quinn.

Great interview! Glad George asked Pat about the hit on Bobby Orr.
One thing that wasn't mentioned in this show is that Quinn's 1980 Flyers still hold the NHL record with a 35-game unbeaten streak. That record will probably never be broken.

One of the best faces of the Canucks organization and got us to the unforgettable '94 Stanley cup finals.
I hated how after the Griffiths family gave up the ownership, the new owner had immediately fired Pat and gave away all of our players after the change.
Even though he didn't get to have Lord Stanley, at least he gave us the Olympic Gold Medal in 2002.

He won't ask for a job that someone has. Except in 1987 when he accepted a contract from the Canucks while still with the Kings. There's a reason he was not allowed to coach the team for three years.

Pat Quin I have been trying to get your help for some time now.
Can you please help the innocent people that have been waiting for justice in your Dupage Court system.
Last time I checked Dupage County is in the state you are currently representing.
How can you let injustice still run rampant and still seem like a bad dream for the people of Illinois ?
I don't blame you for your mistakes, I just ask that you do your best to fix them.
    Please + Thank you :)
