Don't target me like this. These are my sewers damnit.
The neon Is fun in different maps I usually find a scout or sniper and just follow them and get kills like that or using the pier map and ect it’s fun still stupid how gas passer doesn’t work
Objectively the best map
Neon annihilator is something I use like 9/10ths of the time because it removes sappers like the homewrecker but deals more damage to players
The neon annihilator needs a +25% speedboost in water and also the gas passer needs to count as being wet because no way jarate bushwaka can exist but gas passer neon annihilator cant.
25% speed boost when wet would be better in my opinion. Even if you weren’t using the neon to pyro shark, you could douse yourself in gas and run down opponents.
Truly terrifying@@mrlampy
@@mrlampy maybe even a 40% boost while swimming on top of that, just make pyroshark an actually viable meme, like an aquatic demoknight
@@mattparnall4148 65% speed boost pyro comes charging out of 2fort sewers to nibble on toes. Terrifying
@@mrlampy Altho, thinking about it, that might become an even more broken version of jarate bushwacka. If you could dowse both you and your enemy you would have a 25% speed boost and crits for 5 seconds, with afterburn (or whatever the gass passer did now because if they edited the neon annihilator they would change the gas too). Just the crits is enough just the j b combo to be broken. On the other hand it would be less spammable and be on a class already good at long range.
Ok but how many people use TF2 weapons to be successful? Sure I don't use the Neon Annihilator much, but when I'm playing on 2Fort and I get bored harassing snipers with the Loose Cannon, I'll swap to pyroshark and murk some engies trying to build a sewer base. Plus, even if you don't want to airblast people into the sewers to follow it up with a sick detonator jump into toaster bath combo, you can still just pester them with a flare gun or shotgun to get them to follow you. Where else do people go when they're on fire? Neon Annihilator is good in the same way that the Market Gardener, Caber, Loose Cannon, and to a certain extent, spy as a class is. Getting lé funny kill on a gibbus pyro coming out of spawn after you do a 20 minute chain jump around Hightower is the same sort of fun as airblasting a medic into the water and introducing him to the power of the electron.
Unsub, now when you become based I'll come back. "Geez Louis I haven't seen a take this bad since when Great Blue said the force of nature wasn't fun to use."
You might wanna update this now, great blue apparently thinks pyro is worse than spy
I think it would be interesting if the Neon and Third Degree shared stats, where they both crit wet players, took 2 swings to destroy sappers, and hit players connected by medi-beams for a 20% Player damage reduction (ofc leaving random crits) so they would become reskins of each other.
It would actually make ok weapon, but needs some kind of a rework, because putting 2 useless weapons together dosen't make a good weapon, it just makes slightly less useless weapon
I like it.
do not nerf the third degree
I still think you're nuts if you use the Third Degree more than the Neon Annihilator.
Again, having a class that isn't engie being able to remove sappers from sentries just makes it a great utility. Even if there is a BETTER one, that doesn't mean this is automatically worse. That's like saying the Jag is automatically F tier because the gunslinger makes a sentry pop up faster. Again, it is rare that you are in a situation where you can hit a sapper once, but not twice. Sometimes hitting it once is also beneficial, like on teles, where it slows the spy's spam down.
The random crit argument is eh, stating that the damage difference negligable and then turning around and ignoring that the neon annihilator can one-shot more often with a stronger and more consistent crit is silly. "Homewrecker is better in EVERY way!" and then immediately says the damage is worse and that it only is better with an optional lootbox setting.
"Water is the most common of these liquids" would be a fair argument if water was the only liquid used in TF2. It isn't, snipers and scouts both commonly use secondaries that can cover multiple enemies for a short period of time. And can use it on any map. At any time. At range. From spawn. Over and over. "Oh it doesn't pair with the gas passer!" Nothing pairs with the gas passer, gas passer sucks, that's gas passer's flaw, not annihilators. Try pairing it with the thermal thruster instead. Leap across the map to save a sentry or dive at players who are in water.
TL : DR you are a goof and I hope you get hit by a liberty launcher crocket from the only soldier on a team of scorch shot pyros
Great vid btw I love your stuff
I ain’t reading allat 🗣🗣🗣
That's some massive amount of copium right there
@@aleflippy1997Nah, it's a pretty good point
I do honestly see more consistent use with the Neon for removing Sappers from buildings than the Homer.
Seeing as a lot of Engis like hiding their stuff in the water, mini's especially, it actually comes in handy for D too.
The Neon isn't a bad weapon, it's just got a serious case of Aquaman Syndrome where its uses and strengths are so specialized one could easily write them off on paper, but in-practice you have the equivalent of medical peppermint oil, super specialized but something you'll be happy to have when it's the specific thing you need.
@@thecactussword4304 still. It would be alright if it was Pyro's only melee weapon. But he has access to a wide array of them, which can be used far more often, in more situations, and with similar results (axtinguisher for the guaranteed dmg boost, homewrecker for the sapper destruction). And that's obviously not talking about the powerjack and the underrated back scratcher.
It's not that the Neon Annihilator is UNUSABLE, nor that it can't be fun. But... why would you even pick that?
@@aleflippy1997 In my experience, primarily using the Back Scratcher, Homewrecker, and Neon, all are pretty map-dependant.
Like the Back only really becomes useful if you're on a map you can tango around on your own on, with a surplus of health kits to survive in areas you normally wouldn't have a chance in. I don't have a good time with the Back on smaller maps where I need to constantly co-ordinate with my team and generally stay in a smaller area because its upside at that point is a flat damage boost, nothing else.
Meanwhile the Homer is a great tool for crushing Minis, providing heavy support for Engie, but it completely stalls on maps not tailored to Engineer whatsoever. In a situation where neither team has an Engineer, I'd say the Homewrecker is even MORE situational than the Neon, as it literally HAS no upside in that case, just doing nerfed damage
The Neon by comparison can combo with your Scout and Sniper, two classes my buddies happen to play a lot of. At the end of the day the Neon provides a "fork" of sorts between the Homer and Back, being able to support your team while doing the increased, situational damage and supporting your Engie best you can.
I actually don't think the Neon needs a buff so much as the other classes need to catch up and become more mechanically interesting so they can synergize more often. A Mad Milk/Sun on a Stick Scout has a *really* good time with a Scorch Shot/Neon Annihilator Pyro, and I've found the minute-to-minute teamplay the most satisfying part of the game.
"TF2's Lamest Melee"
Welp, that's so disagreeable that I'm going to list every example to the contrary: Stock bat, unarmed combat, sandman, boston basher, sun-on-a-stick, stock shovel, equalizer, stock fire axe, sharpened volcano fragment, third degree, hot hand, ullapool caber, stock fists, warrior's spirit, eviction notice, stock bonesaw, vita-saw, and the stock kukri.
Hot hand is the best weapon in tf2. I will show you the what and dr bright, I will show you all. I will!!!!!!!!!!?!!!!!!!!
Ullapool Caber is very fun
Ullapool Caber is bullshit, but at least it's very funny bullshit.
I don't see the point in bringing stock weapons into this, they are the objective base to the unlocks, of course they have no significant change.
plus, every other weapon you listed can still be used for memes, the neon doesn't really have that much meme material besides "haha 2fort pyroshark!!!" or "haha piss pyro!!"
I got 237 kills on my stock bat, that weapon is outclassed by many others but Its still more reliable than the neón, the diference is that the stock bat has use om any other map that isn't 2fort, while the neón doesn't.
This is a great video, I personally like using the weapon, but I do agree… why is it restricted to water? Eh, I still have fun with it. Good video.
What do you mean why is it restricted to water. You want it to crit at all times?
@@Succer I’m just saying that it should be useful for other stuff then just crit in the water. Honestly, something skin to the powerjak in terms of what it does for Pyro or even the homewrecker.
@@metalsilver7718 Did you just say you wish the only other pyro weapon that damages sappers… could have utility like the homewrecker?
@@metalsilver7718 That is pretty much the point of the weapon; it’s scenario specific. It’s not supposed to be worn at all times, much as you don’t equip the Pain Train on Defense. In the Neon Annihilator’s case it works best when playing around and in water areas.
Instead of judging the efficiency of the neon annihilator in general, I would judge it when you would actually use it, which is in good water maps. You rate it it in general and not when someone would actually equip it
I agree, trying to use a gimmicky weapon where not even valve intended for you to use it is not very smart
agreed, I think it's a fun situational gimmick weapon and can come in handy if you don't have a shotgun and are on a map with lots of water like 2fort
and if you see a building being sapped, you can unsap it. that already makes it so much better than stock and third degree, probably better than axtinguisher too which is now pretty much a gimmick in itself
He did, he said how in most water Maps the flamethrower was better.
@@ThyBigCheddar 1 this is about judging the neon vs other melees 2 in water the neon can kill in seconds compared to the flame thrower taking more time and being negatable with milk piss health packs or just items that reduce fire damage
@@guardedcobalt276 You also have be in melee range with the neon annihilator while in water, the flamethrower can hit from much further away without giving the enemy a chance to melee you and you can barley use it anyway on the few maps with water. Every other pyro melee also outclasses it anyway.

@@gyroslon3720 hey ask them not me I am just the messager
Idea: What if the neon annihilator gave pyro a speed boost while wet and if you swing it while wet you'll slosh the wetness status effect off of yourself and on to nearby enemies. This would give it some utility by allowing the pyro to get rid of debuffs while also giving the pyro some way to set people up for crits. You could walk through a puddle to get yourself wet then slosh that water at an enemy within 5 seconds of leaving the puddle then crit them even if they never touched the water. Would make it much better at taking advantage of smaller bodies of water like the stream on swift water.
It would turn a gimmicky weapon into an even more gimmicky weapon
@@watema3381 it's always going to be gimmicky. Nearly all of TF2s funnest weapons are gimmicks. The point is making its gimmick more flexible and useful.
After i fight a sweaty frustrating match, sitting in 2fort just make me feel relaxing in a way i cant find doing something else. Thats why i love the neon annihilation
Neon Annihilator+Gas Passer now Viable combo. The Sharks are coming on land.
I love the Homewrecker and Neon Annihilator for one reason, removing sappers. And its not because I love Engineers; but because I hate the french
No matter how situational it is, I think it's a good weapon. I remember me and a friend were messing around in a casual server, and found a broken combo with it. My friend was using the Sydney sleeper, and I was using the neon. Good god is it fun.
Neon annihilator is something I use like 9/10ths of the time because it removes sappers like the homewrecker but deals more damage to players
It's seriously a force when you combo it with a Mad Milk Scout. Given how the guy's basically always gonna be dousing at least one person with Milk at pretty much all times, you can score a ridiculous amount of kills with the Neon no problem.
The neon annihilator. As a pyro main I'll never understand the game design decision to make it not combo with the gas passer. It's fun to use it in pier since it's basically the only map that really has water on it. I would still rank it uper than the position you put it but I can't change a single argument you made on it. Nice video video as always.
This didn’t age well.
You say a weapon is bad because it isn't good in most situation, and you purposefully play boring ways to slander. It's not a "sub class" where the annihilator is all you use, it's a situational weapon you occasionally use when water is nearby.
So situational you can only use it in like 5 maps and most of those maps you won’t find a server for
Even the pomsom is less situational, yes, the pomsom
It's meta for 2fort
Surprise George Lopez has seriously untapped meme potential.
I could imagine a steam-based primary for the pyro, with reduced afterburn effectiveness, but the secondary fire would hose water out - extinguish teammates, and make enemies wet, but can't reflect projectiles. Unfortunately, that won't happen because rip content updates
I'm still going to use The Neon Annihilator I just think it's neat to how it breaks and it plays the bass and i can help engy guns but most of all I just think neon signs are just neat
Maybe it would be more fun if you ran around the sewers instead of camping in one place, baiting people to follow you to a spot where you can easily get a crit on them.
Or just having the weapon in your loadout and playing normally, using it sparingly when the right opportunity arises (this thing can still destroy sappers)
Also you don't have to wait for your own sniper to douse someone, just reflect an enemy's jarate/mad milk back at them and use the real bushwacka!

But the Neon is good. Not cause its good. but cause it is a fun weapon. Sorry bro but while you're factually right here you're just, still not quite right.
5:53 "Not to mention how boring using the Neon Annihilator is"
I main Medic (so my credibility just plummeted given what I'm trying to say) but even I can tell that sitting in the sewer, only using the Neon Annihilator, _literally just waiting_ for someone to come to you is nowhere near close to a fun play-style. It's by _no means_ a practical weapon, but 'Fun Factor' can't be objectively measured if you're forcing yourself to use the weapon. The way I see it, the Neon Annihilator is for people with gambling addictions. It's not useful in the average match, but it completely removes one of Pyro's weaknesses, and when someone slips up in the right spot, it's one of the most satisfying weapons to connect with.
If you absolutely _need_ consistency when you pick your weapons, an easy way to get someone to flank in the water is to just beat the crap out of them on land and make a big show of the fact that you aren't running the Neon Annihilator as your melee. When they decide to flank through the water, switch to the Neon Annihilator and find a close spot to catch them off guard. Contrary to popular belief, you _can_ play with more than one melee weapon per match of TF2. Switch off when they get wise or when it stops being fun for you.
I find neon annihilator kind of fun actually. Maybe it's because I usually either flank and don't use melee much or because my second main subclass for pyro is pybro...

I would also like to point out, with the Gas Passer argument, that if- IF- their reason for excluding the Gas Passer was scientifically based in the fact that gasoline is a poor electric conductor (which I DON'T think it was given the fact that the Gas Passer can extinguish teammates), then they're also totally ignoring the fact that IT'S A LIVE SPARK AROUND A FLAMABLE LIQUID. Gaben fucking forbid they give the Gas Passer any legitimate use outside of MvM but like, at least have it do mini-crits or SOMETHING.
