1st JOB WITH THE NEW STAR SHOW ME THAT BOOM!!!

- Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Today, Ethan and I get to test out our new 2024 Western Star 49X with a Miller Industries, Century 9055XL. The 9055XL is a 50 ton integrated (non-rotating) 3-stage boom. The XL is for Extra Long reach and has the same capacity as the standard 50T 3-stage. A customer calls us after one of their driver's has gotten a trailer stuck in some mud at a local WalMart, which sounded odd due to the fact we are/were in a drought. What we find is a bit different situation than we anticipated. So we get to stretch out the legs and the boom to get this trailer back on level ground. So far, I am loving this truck and what it can do!!! Thank you, God, for blessing our family and our business. Watch as we continue to receive God's blessings. There is much more to come!!! I hope you enjoy this video!!!
We have a difficult and dangerous job and we take it very seriously, that doesn't mean we can't have fun and enjoy our work. We strive to be polite, professional, efficient, and safe...and still can have fun. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

How do you know it was me? Ma'am you still have a pole under your trailer. SPEECHLESS!
😂
We won't even mention the tire tracks which match those on your trailer going over the meter...
@@alhutchison447 Twasn"t me who did that. How do you know dat wasn't already dare when I cut across dare.
Ron, your ability to remain polite, is an ability i wish more people had. Thank you!
The poles and caution tape were there as the hole wasn't filled. The tire tracks and poles under her tires tell a tale.....
I wish I was as polite as Ron for as long
As a licensed locksmith I have been asked to leave a job because I would not violate a fire code. People don't always understand.
Amen brother well said.
As a trainer for werner for years.....she's definitely new. And definitely didn't have a good trainer. Hats off to you Ron. Another fine job. Keep it up!!
I've never been a trainer I don't think I have the patience to be one! I agree she had a bad trainer!
Yeah who ever her trainer is he didnt train her right
Perhaps its not the trainer, perhaps, based on her behavior in the video, she's one who doesn't accept direction? Needs an attitude adjustment as well.
@@keithallen3119 Yeah, I'm not going to blame the trainer. No way was she trained to cut corners and not use her mirrors. She had a ton of room to swing wide, but wasn't even close. No concept of what her trailer is doing. She's learned a hard lesson now.
A trainer can only evaluate what he sees during training. Her work and attitude sure looks sloppy in the real world. Hopefully this is just a really bad week and she's better than this.
Miss, the police didn't come when you called them because you were likely not entirely forthcoming about the whole situation. Ron, another job well done and professionally handled 👍
not sure about the laws there but here where I live in central California they will not come out on accidents on Private property unless someone gets hurt.
Of course they didn't come for her, she wanted traffic control in a relatively quiet parking lot. Looked to me like the only traffic she might have impeded would be another tractor trailer trying to get into the ramps.
Yall did an excellent job. Same the driver didn't do the same.
You did not make the driver look bad she did that all by herself
Failure to report property damage could result in Liability to the Tow Company. Also damage Tow Company’s reputation. Nice to see the new unit operating and look forward to more recoveries. Thanks for the videos.
There is an extremely low possibility for that, but you always blame the "big bucks".
Ron, your ability to be patient and professional is an inspiration.
Ron I nominate you for the kindness award this week. Noticed that you didn’t have one at the end of video this week. Thanks for setting an example of how to deal with a customer who is having a confrontational attitude.
It is rather sad that certain people can’t accept the fact that they are human and made a mistake that they can learn from, but instead continue to make things worse for themselves.
Being polite, concise and accurate in providing a service is the sign of professionalism. More so when regulations dicate that reports have to be made, and patience in understanding why is key. No one knows if damage hidden has been caused, so getting clearance via checks carried out by the required authorities is only being correct in the procedure. Well done Ron, another fine task completed.
Ron, I'm 89 year old female and love watching your videos! I love the way you train the kids, always giving them confidence that they can and are doing a good job!
Mike is one of my favorite , he's always the first one when you say, I need someone to do....and he takes off to do it. Enjoy seeing them all as they learn and watching them as they improve!
May God be with you all,
Bessie
That driver was something else. You were patient and professional with her
You were very polite and professional. You did what you are required too by law. Keep up the good work.
She has the right to ask questions, Her company should ask the same before paying for any damages
@@slackhammer4467 She was asking the wrong person though
@@slackhammer4467but she already lied to Werner she told them she was stuck in the mud but stupid is stupid is she couldn’t clear that turn as big as that area is I would’ve routed her back to the closest yard and told her to get all her shit out of my truck and go somewhere else
Ron, you're mainly the reason why i start wearing a helmet/body cam while working, since i drive a street sweeper. Not only it helps with you YT channel but also to cover your company in case of the "He say/She say" nonsense.
So with her with this "How this/How that" just shows how some like to take the pressure off themselves for something THEY did was wrong.
You did the right thing and keep it up wity the great vids and tutorials, Mr. Pratt. God Speed and God Bless
Not all tow company is as honest as Ron Pratt she was lucky got that good service.
I do security and tell all my officers I train to by them no matter how small the job is every interaction should be audio atleast and visual recorded and kept for a year or 6 months atleast.
Also when I tell contractors I deal with that there being audio and visual recording at the beginning of the conversation even if we shooting the breeze, I’ve turned multiple contractors (street sweeper, garbage me and such) to have it when talking cause people looking for lawsuits
You are the real deal Ron..keep doing what and how you do..We need more like you..thank you and God Bless...
Ron, you always put on a pair of gloves when you get out of the cab for safety. Ethan was handling wire rope without gloves. As the rope ages, he is going to hurt himself with many fine wire strands digging into his hands. Maybe even losing control of the situation. Young kids think they are invincible, as you age you realize you are not.
I know that tone lol ... that's my "Ma'am I'm doing my damnedest to be civil and respectful" voice. The "okay" says it all. kudos for a good pick and doing the right thing.
I love the way you kept calm and stayed professional while trying to explain to the driver that you have to report damage Whether or not that driver did it our not. Good job sir.
"How do you know that hole wasn't already in the walmart before I drove my truck into it?"
"How do you know that hydrant wasn't blasting before I parked on it?"

How do you know I ran over the pole?
It's still under your tire...
I feel for her, I really do. One little mistake turned out to be a big deal. I would hate to be in her position, but yeah, there's a process to follow.
She couldve swung wider, however she needs retraining from a better qualified Instructor.I pray to God that she dont kill anyone on the road.
Ron, I had to chuckle when Ethan mentioned soaping the tires and you said you hadn't put any on the new rig yet. You are in front of WalMart. 😉😉😉
I admire your calmness Ron. You're just avoiding an issue with the authorities and doing things right. I know that she's upset about the situation but it brings great responsibilities behind the wheel of a Semi.
I just came on your videos. My late husband drove wreckers that was wheel lifts and flatbeds in the 80's thru the 2000's. He went to working on truck trailers and heavy equipment till he passed in 2016.
I met him working in a full service gas station. Later in 1988 I start working in as a dispatcher at the same service.
I like how you work the trucks and that you are very polite with everyone. Keep up the great work
I love how this driver is upset that it makes her look bad that the police are there along with what looks like the water authorities, but it doesn’t make her look bad the fact that she couldn’t cut it wide enough not to put her trailer off the road!!😂😂 and she shows her appreciation to your help so well Ron!!
Wonder if the yellow pole had anything to do with that...
@@HochgeborenKlownThat pole is so far out of the way that i could make that turn in my 8 axle heavy haul rig.
The original OP is trying to defend bad driving and bad driving technique.
There is no high stress situation or environment that won't be made worse by the presence of "law enforcement".
I imagine she is going to be in some seriously hot water with her company. At the least this is going to go on her record forever as being preventable.
Everything is new and shiny on this truck... even chains, dont use it, just let it sit there, as a decoration :)
Ron and Ethan, please consider when designing your company attire high vis colours. Ethan can be hit because he is not easy to spot while working. In my area Workers Comp would refuse a claim because he wasn't wearing appropriate safety attire. Love watching your videos! Thank you for sharing! 😊
Like the officer said, she's a "real peach", but you did an amazing job staying polite and professional. Since I've started watching your videos some time ago, I've tried emulating you when dealing with the general public, and it ain't easy, I wish I had your level of patience with people. As always, keep up the great work and great content!
As they say on Bone head truckers…SWING WIDE ITS A FRIGGIN TRAILER!!!!!
You can see the new concrete which made this swing easier but she still missed.
“And you need to call Ron”🤗
@@edmarks688 Except for the pole installed on the left side that takes up half the driveway...
She’s not the first to cut that curve short
This corner has been missed by a lot of trailers.
I love the way Ethan gets in help with what you need help with God Bless you and your family thanks you for another wonderful video
It was a blessing to watch you and your son .. teaching him. You have a very caring heart.. You were raised with compassion and care for others 🙏😊
You’re a very patient teacher Ron.😊
Ron you set the example of how to be polite when someone is upset.
Ron you Ethan did fine work and handled the situation very professionally
Love the truck Ron! Nice and shiny with new equipment! Also Ron how you remain polite even though that driver is not happy you have to report the damage is amazing man! People like you are awesome! She was just having a rough day and it’s not your fault and the fact that she would not give the officers any info is even worse!
I'm still in awe about the view gained past those uprights... Low blind spots! 😮 And I'm glad you included the "conflict" with the report... Just you doing what you are required by law could go ugly quick.
I miss the driving portions to the scenes at the beginning of videos.
Thank you Ron and crew for what you all do.
Stay safe, Ron and crew.
love that phrase "swing wide, it's a friggin truck"...
Good morning, Ron and Ethan! You were extremely courteous and professional with this customer. I can certainly understand her frustration with this situation, yet she should understand that you were not making any judgement about her or the situation she was involved in. You were only doing what was required, and if you had not done that, the situation would have just become worse than it should have. Also a great learning experience for Ethan. I enjoyed seeing this new equipment in action.
Stay safe and healthy.
You're right ... What a boom! P.S. Greetings and Blessings from Ohio to all!!
You were very professional and polite with the driver. Accidents happen, she just needs to own the fact that she caused that accident/damage.
This truck is EPIC!!!! So happy to see it in action! Keep up the great work!
Ron.So cool for us watch you break in that beautiful truck for the first time.
Excellent customer service. Great job as usual.
It is nice getting to hear the interactions with the driver, hopefully we can get more of that in videos!
That young lad done a fine job finessing that off, first time on the controls and little jumpy boom, still done fine. Pretty impressive
Congratulations on your first job, I admire what a great professional you are. Ethan is on the same path. God bless all.
Really nice truck and that was exciting to see new truck in action
Rin you're always professional and kind to the people you interact with, you don't even have to explain to us. She was having a bad day and saying I can't move the truck to a safe place was just silly. Love the new Truck !! She's a Beaut 👍🌄
It seems like they are told that in training. They won’t even move for 1/2 hour when they are blocking someone in.
@@bobh6728 She said she didn't have anymore driving hours. So, it seems that a lot of people don't realise this. But if a driver is out of working or driving hours, then they cannot y law, move their truck, even if it's just a few feet. Now in her situation, if she's out of driving hours, the only person that can authorise her to move, is a Police Officer. If no officer is present, then she's well within the law by staying there and not moving, even if it was all caused be her. Even if she's blocking the way in. Site staff would have to get the police in site in order to allow her to move, or, they'd tell site staff that she's staying there. All of this goes out the window, and was never a problem before E-logs. But, even on paper, it's down to the driver if he or she will move or not. But with E-logs, a driver can lose their job for driving when out of hours. Unless they've been given authorisation to move or keep driving a certain time/distance by the Police, or DOT. Blame the law makers, not the drivers.
It's the same her in the UK. But it's far more strict. DVSA (what used to be VOSA, basically DOT) can now drive up next to or near a truck and connect to the vehicles Tacho unit and see everything from driving hours, hours on work, hours on other work, period of availability, how fast the vehicle has been going, when and if the vehicle went over 60mph and for how long, everything. All without the driver even knowing. Before they'd have to pull drivers over for all of that. The only time they can't do this is with older trucks still using analogue tacho cards. So there's no electronic log. But anyway, back to what you said, it's not a case of them being told not to move "just because they're out of hours" because they're trying to be awkward. They're told things like that in training, because it's the law. All laws like that have done, is cause more problems. But they came about because of drivers that took the piss and ruined it for everyone else. For example, drivers that drove until exhausted, fell asleep, killed several people. You see, companies would force drivers to keep going even if they were tired by threatening to lose their job. Now, if you've got E-logs at least, companies can't do that. You either tell them to go fuck themselves, and/or you report them to DOT for trying to force you to drive when out of hours or exhausted. They'll get a nice surprise. And the driver in question won't lose their licence.
That new Western Star is a gorgeous truck. In do time y'all will get her the way u want her. God bless and hopefully have a good and safe weekend
Ron you handled the situation with that disgruntled driver with wisdom and patience. Thanks for showing the great example. The more videos of yours I see the greater respect I build for you. Your a God fearing man and it shows. God bless brother
Unbelievable! Over 24,000 views in the first seven hours after posting. And Ethan is enjoying his learning experience in the new truck. The truck driver seems like a newbie who is still learning. I agree with the guy who commented she should have made a wider turn. Even if it was new construction, the contractor who installed the water pipes needed to verify any unseen damage before covering up everything and later finding a massive leak when water was turned on. These videos are educational. Most of us have no idea all that has to be considered in rescue/recovery events. Yes, it pays to be polite and considerate at all times. That way your business grows. It's apparent from the interactions with police officers that Ron and his team have a good reputation in a large geographic area.
Ron! You have a very nice truck.... Will be a great addition to the fleet...😂👍👍👍🙏🇺🇸
First job already for the new unit that was epic
Shiny and new. (for now, still) Love it!
Sadly dont think she'll stay shiny for long vut hey it's a work truck not a show truck
Didn't think it would reach that far. Incredible.
It really isn't becoming to be dishonest about what you have done. Any adult should have learned by the time they are working, to be honest about your mistakes.
No better way to deal with that situation. Good job on you guys and the officer. God Bless you both
Absolutely Beautiful rig, Ron!!!! There's absolutely nothing like that first run with a new rig, no matter whether you're Fire/Rescue, EMS, or Heavy Recovery. I was both Fire and EMS for 34 years, and one of the members of the rescue squad I was a member of owned one of Richmond, Va's premiere heavy recovery services (Ray' Wrecker back then, Richmond towing now). Also, as many have said, kudos to you for remaining calm, polite, and professional in the face of idiocy...Me thinks that she knew she ran over the water meter (Even if she didn't know what it was, she knew it was not something meant to be under a tire). She was hoping you would ignore it as well.
Mr Ron Glad to see the new star in action. Thanks for sharing and stay safe
I completely agree with how you handled it I too have had to make calls for property damage it’s not fun
Ron you handled that in a professional way and respectful way trying to explain to the driver you also have a responsibility to call the proper authorities when something like this happens it relieves your responsibilities of any damage that might of happened when it got ran over by the trailer. I drove heavy haul over the road 21-1/2 years these knew drivers today alot of them can't drive a car let alone a semi-truck I'm sure you see it the same way but hopefully they learn from there mistakes. Good job you and your son working as a team on the knew Westernstar wrecker.
The problem is, in my opinion. A lot of them won't learn from their mistakes. Why? Because they don't even understand how they fucked up in the first place. This lady no doubt doesn't understand what she did wrong. I mean, she tried to go around that turn as if she were unit only. I guarantee she saw where the trailer was going in her mirror, but decided to send it because it'll be fine. Then she got stuck. And somehow didn't feel like a complete idiot and wanted to absolve herself of any possible damage, because no one knows if it were damaged before. It's funny isn't it. If she payed attention and swung wider/later, she wouldn't have been in that mess.
Seeing the real stuff and staying professional throughout is why you should always show it all. Always good to see outcome of all real life scenes and how you stay positive even in the face of such trying times. People can be nice or not so nice it's how you show respect that makes me enjoy your channel
Thanks for a great video Ron and Ethan.
It was interesting and enjoyable.
Your new truck is super nice. You and Ethan did a great job of picking that trailer and moving it over back on the street. Your new truck did a great job.
Sorry the semi driver gave you a bad time. You were just doing your job.
Appreciate Ron the fine way you train Ethan to do the job. You double check everything and give him excellent instructions and feedback. Nice work Ron.
Retired Air Force veteran.
Poor driver started stressing out. Glad you kept your head cool as much as possible and dealt with it the best you could.
So glad you let Ethan take over the controls as it gave you an opportunity to work together and instruct him.
You handled yourself perfectly with the customer who was clearly under duress. Nice work guys
Nice job. You were as kind and gentle with the driver as you were with the truck!
I just wanted to tell Ron, that using please and thank you is wonderful. Your Mom sure brought you up right.
What a unit
I’m sure Ethan is extremely happy every time he operates that rig
Great job Ron and great call….👍🏼
Well done ! Ron.
Simplicity is the the ultimate sophistication.
Ron i love your work you have a great talent for your team out there on the field
Ron, that was a perfect example of total professionalism, handled a just grumpy person really most likely as they are having a bad day, with great politeness and facts.
Experience and common sense is costly. Have a good week end, stay safe out there
Idiocy costs much more
I’m a semi retired truck driver. I’ve always said that the truck is the steer tire for the trailer, and you always need the rear tire to clear the curb. It also helps in setting up for backing in. The truck is the steer tire.
Why isn't Ethan driving his truck?!!! I love it watching you and Ethan work together. That was a good first job... great opportunity to stretch out the legs as it were! God bless
It's named after him NOT for him.
Dad bought it, hes gotta have his fun first 😊
I’m a rotator operator in Ky and you was very professional and extremely polite with that driver that just wanted to be complicated.
It was great to meet you last week Ron and to see the new truck in person and now I get to see it in action.
It's amazing how much Ethan has learned growing up. For someone that young he has a lot of knowledge that men much older than he is.
I remember the rollover job when Talon learned Ethan was old enough to work, not just observe from a distance. Talon's first thought was "I have so much I can teach him".
Wow, this new truck is a real powerhouse, nice addition to the fleet!
Are you going to add a rearview mirror in the center of the windshield?
You were polite, gentle, honest, and patient. Great job you two.
Dealing with people is sometimes the worst part of any job. Love the videos . What a nice rig that is Ron !
Wow that new truck worked great and Ethan did a great job working the controls
The lady has a valid point because it's obvious there are previous tire tracks however she's the one that got stuck so ultimately she's responsible for any damages.
This is just a small thing but I liked that you went with analogue gauges. As long as you guys use a truck, there's far less to go wrong!
My company just put me in a new 2024 volvo vnl 670 and I love the new electronic dash because everything is right in front of me
Ron, as a retired truck driver, I am very appalled at this steering wheel holder being angry with you for doing the job you are required, by law, to do. My very first job in driving was with Werner and that company for the past whole bunch of years has been full of drivers just like this one who are looking for, and expecting, someone to help them get away with crap! I am very proud to know that you are the honest professional that you are!!! Times such as this make it a pure pleasure to be a proud subscriber of your channel! Thank you for your integrity!!!!!
You can never go wrong following proceedure and taking your time to do it right. Can't fault a man doing his job by the book.
Western star was in my mind the top of line. There still a good looking truck today ,it’s just not the same truck it used to be. I’d still like to have one.
Ron, You were polite, professional, and patient. What more could anyone ask of you. She just didn’t want to admit to her lack of paying attention to where she was going. We all have an “oops” sometime. Nobody is perfect.
Nice to see Ethan at the controls. Pretty soon you’ll just be sitting back and watching Ethan work.
Great job to both of you.
Stay safe, stay healthy, and god bless🙏👍
Kuddos to your professionalism! I love the new truck also by the way.
I enjoy watching your videos and how your crew works as a team. And how you remain a professional and caring person dealing with a new driver. Stay safe
A fellow EMT was killed in the line of duty here on 4/1/24 after a semi cut them off killing the EMT and Patient but your videos Reminds everyone to use caution and move over Which I truly respect 🙏
Its a very nice new tow rig. I can also appreciate how you did your due diligence and reported the h20 mein damage. The driver was sore because you called the coppers, and Werner sure aint gonna pay for the tow😢😢
New truck a job well done.
I tensed up when she walked into the line of fire as you were booming up after getting your lines set.
It looks like Ron is having lots of fun with his "new" toy!
Hopefully you'll get many good years of service with it!
Congratulations getting the first job done safely!
Ron you where very polite and courteous
Hi Ron, Good job Ron and Ethan. She didn't take a wide turn and was not lokking in the mirror, when taking the right turn. Hope you and your family have a great weekend :)
Great job as always Ron, especially keeping your cool with her. You did exactly what you had to do. I'm a retired trucker of 45 yrs and it was easy for me to see that she didn't swing wide enough and she had plenty of room to clear that corner and no, that dirt didn't look muddy. I've found that people who continused to argue the points she did is because she knows she screwed up and is trying cover her own butt and to point the blame in another direction.
You should take a nice picture of the new rig and throw it onto the intro to show it off, she's such a beauty!
Ron you were in that situation where (you're) damned if you do and damned if you don't. Damsel in distress nada you did the correct thing!
What if the water was switched off and the maintenance crew return, switch supply on and the valve leaks - they see tyre marks. First thing they do is check CCTV footage, your truck is clearly visible and there is no property damage report - your business would face penalties.
Or some chain of effect happens and someone gets hurt, everything you said proceeds and now you have an even being situation to deal with.
Excellent work! BRAVO!
Very nice Truck, can't wait to see more of it in action. 👍
Happy new truck, a great addition to your fleet.
Stay safe all
Great recovery Ron. You did the right thing by reporting the property damage. The little lady was upset about it, because now her company is going to see pictures & video of the damage. Now her company's (Werner) insurance company can pay for the repairs to the water main instead of Walmart or the tax payers. She'll have to do the ELD shuffle under 5 mile per hour to keep her Hours of Service in check. Shouldn't be a problem making it to the back of the store where the docks are.
When she approached you & confronted you about calling the cops, I would have walked her back the the back of her trailer & showed her the damage & the post still stuck under her tire. She probably would of told you that wasn't like that before.
