Ron, i'm glad you were able to get this driver and his equipment to a safe location to split the unit. I currently work for Werner Enterprises and my first two trucks were Internationals. I'm currently in a Pete 579 and drive right by Scott City at least 1 to 2 times a week.
In Wisconsin, I was told by the wrecker operator (that pulled my tractor/trailer to a Penske yard), that they are NOT supposed pull tractor/trailer combos UNLESS there is substantial danger. Some (stupid) sensor in my DT-12 tranny stopped sensing and, because every time Penske does software a 'upgrade,' manual mode disappears; I was stuck on the entrance/exit ramp from a VERY busy interstate to a VERY busy interstate bypass entrance - the officer didn't even get out of his car until the wrecker showed up. The wrecker showed up, hooked up, and drug my truck/trailer about 15 miles to the opposite side of town, because the nearest Penske didn't have any loaner tractors. It took him more time to pull an axle shaft out of the front drive axle (because he couldn't get a clean grip on the driveshaft bolts), than it did to hook the unit! I've been broke down on the side of the road many times over my trucking career. That night scared me! At the end of the day: you were able to get that tractor/trailer combo to a close 'safe' location. Splitting them, at that point, was the better, safer option! Sometimes the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) principal is king!
Traffic is like this nationwide unfortunately!! Im retired 20 yrs in towing and recovery had several state troopers with me before on wrecks and breakdowns people still wouldn't move over ,had soo many close calls so glad im not playing with traffic anymore!!! Stay safe and God bless all at Midwest towing!!
Here in north Carolina when they have several troopers on scene as you mentioned and a vehicle has Opportunity to slow or move over and fails to do so one on those troopers is going after him and in north carolina the fine for that is 500 dollars plus 250 dollars court cost plus assessment fee of another 100 dollars so youre looking at nearly a thousand dollars plus 5 points on your license.
Hello Ron, Ethan and all the Pratt family and larger Midwest Crew. I've said it more than once, but the care and professionalism you show for your crew, your gear, and your customers is second-to-none. I hope you all had a wonderful (and peaceful!) Christmas, and have a 2024 that's full of good things. (I'd also like to pay special note here to how gently you handled the Rotator's underreach in this job, having just given it a lick of paint... looked so gentle you could've been fussing a kitty!)
Ron you are one of the kindest, most professional people that I know of on RUclips. Your patience with your crew is amazing…The good Lord must have given you my patience! 😂 that’s all I will say about that.
I am not surprised about people not paying attention in my opinion I think vehicles have to much technology in then drivers are easily distracted and concentrating on the road and what is around them . Hats off to all you recover people around the world . Great video Sir . Wish you all Happy New Year and a safe one 🫶🏻🇬🇧🫶🏻
Well, even though you feel that your paintwork is scratched, it shows how much you care about your equipment. Well done, thank you for all the Friday videos this past year, may greetings to you and the family, many best wishes for the coming year.
Another awkward situation made safe and, relatively, straightforward. Another example of multiple ways of doing things safely. All in all it worked out well and no-one, not even the 'tator's new paintwork, got hurt!! I wish you, the family and all at Midwest a blessed, peacful and prosperous New Year. Greetings from the UK. God bless.
You and your team are always finding solutions to tough problems, and dangerous situations. Thank you for all you do, and please stay safe. Blessings for a great New Year!
I know you breathed a huge sigh of relief when you were able to get that big rig safely off of that busy highway. I breathed a sigh of relief and I wasn't even involved!
Looks like the driver sits on the seat belts. Nice job Ron, you are instructing Ethan real good. He just needs to move a little faster. Great safety video! Get off the interstate and be safe!
I remember when the Peterbilt roll back was new. Ron, I remember one of the first time its bed got scratch up. You said something along the lines, it's a work truck and that's going to happen. You still found it a bit upsetting. Looks like those feelings are back with the freshly painted rotator's underreach. The first scratch is always the hardest! Perhaps it will help to think of it as each scratch means money has been earned! I pray for you and the crew to always get the job done safe.
The whole def system on these 18-wheelers need to be done away with they do not save on emissions and they are the number one cause of breakdowns mine went out on me and the MHC shop couldn't even figure it out so I had it deleted
Ron , you are oh so RIGHT , drivers may well be able to see your flashing lights lights , but few pay REAL attention approaching you to what is around them .
Traffic just has no common sense when it comes to keeping over, it's not as if your trucks are too tiny to see! Appreciate the expertise you put into all your recoveries. I guess if manufacturers could have got around the powered lubrication issue to allow autoboxes to be towed forward unlifted they would have already.
Simple solution. Build the trannies with a rear oil pump. Most early automatics had a rear pump and could be push started or towed. Sadly manufacturers build their junk as cheaply as possible so a lot of things that worked have been eliminated.
I love how you always take the minute to explain why you do things to Ethan. Its the only way knowledge gets passed on. Happy holidays to you and your entire crew Ron.
This situation sure shoes us another aspect of the difficulties you face in your occupation, so a big God bless to you all and big hand to Ethan. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💕🙏🙏🙏🇬🇧
Sure glad that tow did not cause any worse problems! Between you and Ethan you handled it very well! Hope all of you had a really good Christmas and wishing you a happy and blessed new year!
Your stuff is always nice looking, I understand when your at a shows or fair it’s nice to have everything touched up but anyone who knows you already knows your rigs are clean and well equipped
Ron I love how you take such good care of your equipment you truly have a exemplary way of treating the customers like their family along with your employees great job on this video
Hey Ron, I've been watching your channel now for quite a while now. I get a chuckle every time I start one of your videos, my wife says out loud hello Ron. Take care, be safe, and God bless
Nice work. Getting out of an unsafe situation. Damage the new paint all in days work. Repainting the equipment helps prevent rust and wear in the long run
Heads up when Ethan is working in traffic have him wear a reflective vest and put cones out prior to you showing up. I hope you had a good Christmas and wish you a happy healthy new year.
Gm Ron and Employees yall get ready you have heavy Snow heading you way for 1st of year remember they safe out there want yall round for years to come and Thanks Ron in all youre videos coming Stay warm ❤😊😊
While needing additional trucks is an issue, to me it is less of an issue than having several trucks sitting never being used. Perhaps it is time to consider adding an additional heavy.
That’s the best video ever father and son teaming up together and getting that truck off that busy highway and people need to SLOW DOWN AND MOVE FOR ALL EMERGENCY VEHICLES. Tow trucks police fire and EMS
AHAHHAAAA Here I am watching a Wrecker Channel and I hear a Familiar sound. BEEP, BEEP Service Line 1. That beep tone is from NEC Phone system.. After 37 Years That tone has never changed from System to System... Thanks Much Ron... Mike M.
Ron you are a total professional. Have watched your videos a long time. You have always kept your truck looking brand new. In my opinion thee are no rotators I have seen or other videos who have such a good looking pretty truck. The Tator is the best and prettiest rotator I've seen in the country. Some I've seen on videos like the Hulk and others have good color schemes but they arent pretty like the Tator. God bless you and yours and may 2024 be your best year ever.
Well, seeing the location on the back of that trailer, that was from a HVDC distribution center. Those trailers are always fully palletized so very easy to unload and reload if needed. But luckily you had an empty trailer and no unneeded headache. Hopefully you never get an overturned RDC trailer as that is all loose freight inside thats unloaded on a conveyer line of sorts, no unloading that on the side of the road to make the job easier. I'll have to see what market Olney distributes to, we get all ours from Sterling.
You all needed pd on the other location no doubt. This was much better where you all decided to go off a busy Highway. Good call on that Ron & ik Eathin likes doing things his way (which is fine as long as it's safe), but I'm glad your teaching him YOUR way of doing things years of experience & a few trial & errors over the years. I'm happy he had you check over everything for him to make sure he did it right I'm happy he's still has things to learn from dad.
Ron, from my family to yours, may all y'all have a safe, prosperous, and happy New Year!!!!! 🙏I pray that God keeps you and your team safe throughout the coming year!🙏
Ron, I am going to add kind of a "sidebar" comment since you did the hookup next to an RV dealership. My parents for years had an RV dealership for many years starting in 1966. The business was on a County Primary 2 lane road not as nice as it is today. Anyways, the local banks wouldn't floor plan trailers for the business because they were not on the four lane highway. The owner of the factory that built the Century trailers made a call to his bank and they always had a floorplan loan when needed. The entire time they had the business, my parents never once set foot in that bank. It was all done with a phone call and by mail. Those were the days! While that dealership next to you had everything on concrete, we always had the trailer parked on nicely mowed grass. I always thought that our location better showed the trailers closer to the environment that the customer would be parking and using the RV. It sure worked for us. Ron, as you have said many times, "There is more than 5 plus 5 to equal 10." Too bad the three piece suit local bankers never could figure that out! Well done on a very busy fair week. We did that too, display RVs at our County Fair. We just didn't have to move them mid-fair! Thanks and stay safe!
Stay safe and God bless you and your employees, we here in Ukraine watch you quite a lot except we recovery and tow tanks and other heavy army machinery :)
I’ve lost track over the years working FD/EMS that I’ve had to charge at (to a safe distance from) vehicles coming at my accident scenes to keep them from getting at my crews. I know your worry very well Ron. Even though CA doesn’t recognize tow operators as first responders, they absolutely are.
The tow caps, are they inserted or placed against the flat side of the airbags?? How does that work? Now I want to go and look under my tractor's airbags. 🤣 I was recently in a car accident, hit from a weird angle so my car was pushed to one side and the car that hit me was in both lanes. It was caused by a hit and run. Live traffic going by either sides in city streets. I had two young kids in my car with their restraints still on in case we got hit again. After making sure the kids were ok and knew to stay put, I called 911 and directed them to send fire and police and made it clear that we were in live lanes. Fire arrived, and blocked us, got to say it was an immense relief to see them there. I already had training for these situations but never thought I'd have to put them to use for my own family. So, your video just reminded me of that. PSA. It's far safer to remain in your vehicles with your restraint on until FRs arrives. People have been hit from wandering around the scenes.
That was the right call in limping him to a safer spot to split. A great video as always...and the paint job looks great Ron🙂 I hope you had a good and quiet Christmas without any calls...ya gotta have a break some times🙂 Have a happy and safe New Year and hopefully the motorists out there will keep it between the ditches and/or have a lift home safely,
It looks good Ron Pratt please be careful and safe right now half the state of Oregon is disabled no one can go past Roseburg Oregon in southern Oregon going north bound all the way 2 the Canadian border we at least 8 inches of ice on interstate 5 both at Mile post 125 in both directions r closed people have left their vehicles on the freeway and now in my county Josephine in southern Oregon is under a flash flood alert 1-5 inches of rain starts tomorrow afternoon till further notice God bless u guys stay safe
Derate means it is a DEF issue. Love the folks with "Go Green" Minds. I've driven company trucks for many years. Each time I get put in a brand new truck, we end up on the side of the road somewhere with "Derate" issues. DEF Fluid is 99% water. Who ever thought it could possibly cost 100's of millions of dollars in repairs.
Outstanding work as always, looking at the thumbnail I heard 'The Animals' we gotta get out of this place. Its also your lucky day, every time I drop one of those new spray cans of anything it shears the non-removable part of the top off.
THAT's what I really MISS about that work-- even though every day is the same work-- it's NEVER THE SAME DAY.. and I loved it.. miss it terribly. YOU are supplying my daily TATER... and other feelings like I had a little of the work... :) THANK YOU>
Hey there Ron I just thought of something I saw on my son's work truck that might be of help to you . He works for a tree service and on their heavy trucks thier cones are mounted to their front bumper by a long rod they slide the cones over down the rod and then the rod pushes back into a locking collar to hold the cones against the bumper spring loaded like . Thought this might work for the front of your trucks as well and it would free up some space in your storage boxes ! He works for a well known tree service here in Tennessee Asplunde I think I spelled it correctly ! Just a thought ! Have a Happy and Safe New Year ! God Bless you and your family and your crew !
How much does your tow unit weight with all the equipment you have on it? You all do a great job out there and safety for you all is #1!! Enjoy your vids.Stay safe out there Ron.😎👍🙏🙏🙏
Hey I got a quick question, perhaps it's been asked: have you guys ever left one of the light bars on a toe? Just wondering. You see that would be my luck! You guys did a great job.
Hi Ron, I know you were just at the fair but it looks like you need a extra truck just to carry all the extra stuff in the rotator! LOL You guys are a great group of guys, professional, polite and friendly. Safety is always the main priority! Love your videos! I agree people need to pay more attention while they are driving. Slow down and move over everyone, for everyone’s safety.
Ron, I wouldn't be surprised is there was a kitchen sink hiding in the rotator somewhere. With the amount you carry in it. 😂 That was a really bad spot to stop, it's a pity about #16 not being available, it's always a risk when taking work vehicles home. Hope you're all feeling better and having a great Christmas / NYE.
Some of these drivers need to use their head. If the truck is in derate drive it to a safe area. It is dangerous driving at 15 mph but it is more dangerous sitting where he was on the hiway...ugh.
Here in North Carolina Our Wrecker Trucks or repair trucks arent permitted to run red or blue lights as you guys do but our move over law allows for any repair or wrecker or such also Even when approaching a merging traffic situation it means move over also if possible. If not possible you try to allow for room for merging traffic to merge in as much as possible and if you dont move over or allow room and one of our la enforcement spots you youve got a ticket.
Ron, i'm glad you were able to get this driver and his equipment to a safe location to split the unit. I currently work for Werner Enterprises and my first two trucks were Internationals. I'm currently in a Pete 579 and drive right by Scott City at least 1 to 2 times a week.

You can thank our wonderful government for that crap being on diesel engines 🙄
100% correct
Does not work here in Finland neither, pre def tracks starts Finland in winter but these new tracks had lot of problems
The Government isn't going to rid of their easy income
Automatic transmissions r useless
Wish we could see more of Talon and how's everyone doing hope y'all have a Happy New Year
I pray every day you all are safe. You do a great job at solving problems and helping people. God bless you all.
Tator looks great with the new paint job
Ron , you are oh so RIGHT , drivers may well be able to see your flashing lights lights , but few pay REAL attention approaching you to what is around them .
It is a good day when all the equipment is on a job. You and the crew have a great New Year.

Best professionals around, thanks for doing such a great and safe job out there!!! I think the Tator looks great even when she has her battle scars!
Always a professional job well done. With Ron as a excellent instructor.
Can we see a video next time of how you paint and get all of your equipment looking brand new again? Please!!
Nice work. Getting out of an unsafe situation. Damage the new paint all in days work. Repainting the equipment helps prevent rust and wear in the long run
I was beginning to wonder when you were going to paint the back of the tator. Glad that's looking all shiny now. 👍

The repaint job makes the truck look very pretty again , sad it won’t last to long with as busy as you all are !
Can't complain about having work. Better having work than not.
Have a great and prosperous new year.

That beep tone is from NEC Phone system.. After 37 Years That tone has never changed from System to System...
Thanks Much Ron...

Happy new year to you and your's, keep the videos coming through 2024.
Ron, I am going to add kind of a "sidebar" comment since you did the hookup next to an RV dealership.

Ron, as always great video. I wish the tow companies up here in Wisconsin worked as Professional as your team.

You stay safe too! Ukraine is in our prayers every day.
you do a fine job Ron.good to see you again.need more.merry Christmas & happy New Year 2024.😊🎉🎉
Fresh paint job looks great.
Show trucks do not earn money (unless they are demo units for the manufacturer or dealer).
Happy New Year Ron and the rest of the team!

great job ron and your help ..im glad you got out of the highway...have a happy new year...god bless..
I take it the set of chains up toward the cab on both sides was to hold that axle up to keep from damaging the air bags or shock bags
Yes, it’s to keep the axle and tires in place when rear end is lifted so they’re not hanging down.
Funniest sentence I've ever heard Ron utter "Why on earth do I have a post driver in here?" 😂
A video on repainting the lift, snatch blocks, etc., would be good.
That was the right call in limping him to a safer spot to split. A great video as always...and the paint job looks great Ron🙂
I hope you had a good and quiet Christmas without any calls...ya gotta have a break some times🙂 Have a happy and safe New Year and hopefully the motorists out there will keep it between the ditches and/or have a lift home safely,

Good Morning There My Good Big Bro Ron Pratt Sir & I'll Be Praying For This Person In This Automobile Accident
That was a bad spot. You're fortunate no one hit you. I thought you bought a new truck, that paint job looks great!
i can se Rembrandt has been ar work, looks nice Ron. Happy New year
May your Family and workers all have a safe New Year !!
enjoyed the video keep up the great work happy new year to you and the family and everyone at midwest towing
New Painted looks good!
Hey Ron that is only big enough for a "4wheeler" as most drivers call regular vehicles
I TOTALLY ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO RON 😊
Trust the Ron lol. Great job everyone for being safe and getting off that road.
I drive a truck. I will never understand why drivers do that. If the truck moves I'm driving till I find a safe spot to park
How much does your tow unit weight with all the equipment you have on it? You all do a great job out there and safety for you all is #1!! Enjoy your vids.Stay safe out there Ron.😎👍🙏🙏🙏
The Rotator weighs in at around 73,000 lbs (33112 kgs) fully equipped and fueled. Thanks for watching and God bless.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
You should have those cones on the other side or up on top. Please be safe.
Hey I got a quick question, perhaps it's been asked: have you guys ever left one of the light bars on a toe? Just wondering. You see that would be my luck! You guys did a great job.
Thumbs up, great video, getting off that road was the best thing to do
Love this channel. From Scotland.
Awesome video thanks for sharing did you have to tell the rv business you were going to pull in there lot
Man you were not kidding that you repainted the back end. Glossy
Ron, I wouldn't be surprised is there was a kitchen sink hiding in the rotator somewhere. With the amount you carry in it. 😂
That was a really bad spot to stop, it's a pity about #16 not being available, it's always a risk when taking work vehicles home. Hope you're all feeling better and having a great Christmas / NYE.
Some of these drivers need to use their head. If the truck is in derate drive it to a safe area. It is dangerous driving at 15 mph but it is more dangerous sitting where he was on the hiway...ugh.
Ron Peart, and crew * everyone else also! ... Happy New Year 🎊🎊🎊🎊🎉🎉🎉🎉
'PRATT'
I know the area you are at and you are exactly correct on them not paying attention. It’s really sad.
Thank you so much for the video please post more videos a week God bless 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
