Hello, everyone! In celebration of the utterly amazing milestone of 100 MILLION VIEWS on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, I decided to create a biographical video of him! I worked pretty hard on this, and have even closed captioned it for you, as well; just click the “CC” button.

Vivaldi's Four Seasons is arguably the most phenominal composition of musical genius ever composed. Thank God it was rediscovered.
I have been listening to Vivaldi for nearly 30 years but have only recently begun looking into the composer's life; I always knew that Vivaldi was an inactive Catholic priest but always assumed that this was because he was some type of cloistered, aristocratic musician who lived in the Vatican and composed music rather than saying mass. Far from it. It is amazing to me that Vivaldi was able to write such glorious music whilst living such a tenuous existence. Given the poverty that Vivaldi was eventually to die in, it is an indictment of his society that a man whose music so many enjoy today was left to an early grave and virtual obscurity.
So sad that so many composers, musicians, artists, writers etc died impoverished and then became rediscovered and made famous hundreds of years later......
I agree... But I'm glad they get rediscovered so people today can listen to these great works... 😊

I first heard the four seasons at school in 1960. What a way to start a life of enjoyment of music! What an enlightened teacher!

Fate is funny sometimes; he became a priest, something that would have prevented him from composing music for the most part. But more intriguing is his asthma; he could have chosen a woodwind or other types of instruments, which might have changed the course of musical history Thank you!

It just amazes me how all these composers could possibly fall into obscurity and then be found centuries later. Thank God for the written word or note.

Excellent content and presentation! I needed a refresher on Vivaldi and this is wonderful. I remember listening to the Four Seasons in winter with the snow falling and feeling the magic of the music and the moment.

Looking for some nonintrusive background music during my studies a neighbor let me copy some classical compilation CD's. While resting and in the 'zone' a vision of walking through the forest in fallen leaves came to mind. When I looked to see what was playing it was Antonio Vivaldi's Autumn. I listen to a lot of classical music (Besides classic Rock and Roll!) with Vivaldi my favorite. Another of my faves is Shostakovich. What a story he lived! Eric Satie as well. Satie's life, as some of his works, was an enigma of its own.
So thanks for uploading this and it's ok if you didn't have the time to do that edit. Small distraction from the overall excellent production.

We used to play the recording called "Vivaldi-Music Minus One Violin". Haven't seen it anywhere lately; Violinists could practice either the first or second along with the other audible violin; Easy to imagine playing it live back then, yes ? Amalie Smith, an excellent violinist in her own right (Champaign Urbana-Illinois) used to play along with her father's " String Choir" students; thus the idea for a little cello player who gets up on stage to play along with the first four presidents. Yep...INSPIRATION is what it's all about. Her brother George Louie Como Smith, brought most of the humor to "our" string quartets... may he RIP. I'm hoping Amalie sees her name here. Her name SHOULD be in "Lights!"
