This album really did Scott justice. He had so many good moments. The high gain solo in the middle of Ego Death is just a work of art
This comment hits real different post album release after hearing bloodbath's outro solo.
@@justsomeguy727 I honestly don't love every song on the record, but all of Scott and Tim's parts are amazing as always. Clay Aeschliman is really sounding good on the album.
@joseph- solo is just ok. RTF was doing this stuff 50 yrs ago. Writing is blah

i tottaly agreee dude 💯💯
... i know steve vai gets most of the views, but i think the first and second act are just awesome too
I guess I'll go check that out
I have never been so overwhelmed by a simultaneous feeling of such awe - for a piece of music - and despair - for my own shortcomings on the guitar. Brb, gunna list all of my guitars on reverb and never touch the instrument again.
Nah, it may seem to be an upper limit, but that just means that it's achievable.
Sounds like a talented band who fused metal with ring tones.
Comparison: the ego killer.
It’s not a competition. You don’t have to be the best to enjoy playing music. There’s no reason to feel bad about your skills.
Guitars finally got that tier 3 gear on and the set bonus is 50% more shred & melody
polyphia is definition of breaking the meta of the game 😭

@The Lazy Man's Guide to Guitar I’m not sure if you’re trolling but ‘sick’ is another way of saying something was amazing
i really know what tim henson meant when he said he was inspired by modern rap. it sounds like the guitars are rapping over clay and clay crushing the beat. insane

Old Polyphia Meets New Polyphia, this sound just beautiful
When I think of old polyphia I remember a much heavier sound
Yee like ep
Old Polyphia had core vibes everywhere.
Yeah this is nothing like old polyphia lol their first couple albums were "shiny Djent", much heavier with melodic riffing and solo's throughout. They pretty much went ahead and made their own genre after that XD

It doesn't feel like old polyphia to me. not at all... And it's a little to happy and upbeat and "pop-ish" for my taste but it's still very impressive and has some cool unique phrases and stuff. 8.5/10 but compared to other polyphia stuff 4.5/10. cool but not my cup o tea

Found them a few weeks ago. Mind. Blown.
I’m 68. Very much a sound guy. They make my ears happy. Very talented folks. Each and everyone enhances the other. I essentially started being sound oriented listening to Hendrix at 12 years old. And Beck when I was even younger.
So yes I’ve been around a little bit.
Everyone is talking about how sick the instrumentation is. But hear the mixing, ITS PERFECT
yeah and i was surprised that Sim Cashion did the mix and not only hes one of the best guitarist but wow his production skills ....
Very true. A well polished band.
I second this
Dude mix doesn't matter if you have a 10 dollar headphone like me lol

This track is amazing. It feels like a mixture of oldschool shreddy polyphia mixed with everything new they’ve made in the last few years and I’m loving it. Also feel like Scott has way more presence in this song. Fuck yeah 🤘🏼
Bit of a ‘Lit’ vibe
Was looking for this comment. It sounds like the old stuff that was I never really into, but I actually like this song.
Except this one actually has a melody, unlike the previous single which i didn't like for that reason. But that's just my point of view.
So now he's Scott Lechapter
@@Yuna-Chan I don't have my guitar in front of me to map out the melody but I'm pretty sure "playing god" has a melody albeit one buried within the shredfest
Strange music, in that there is influence from almost every genre contained in it. Heavy metal, flamenco, funk, rock, some hip hop type fills - everything. Masters of their instruments. Even the music isn't your speed, you have to appreciate the musicianship.
Precisely why I'm torn between catagorizing it between alternative schizo metal or melodic Schizo metal
@@devinsmith5926 Who cares about putting all these weird labels on music - listen to it and enjoy. Recognize & appreciate the influences as you hear them, or just be an appreciative observer of musical talent without recognizing the influences. It's art, it doesn't need to be defined and analyzed by every little detail until it fits some obscure made up genre.
I'm not denouncing you specifically - it's just weird to me how there are so many weird subgenres people keep inventing. It's impossible to keep track of all that stuff!
Polyphia has become one of my favorite bands. They have such a unique spund that i havent heard anywhere else. Any polyphia song can come on and ill know its them based off their unique sound

That panic attack groove at 2:00 minutes is so good. The orchestration, the up beat cymbal and double time snare, bass playing above Scott's line, and then the octave shreds.
So refreshing. I'm 55 years old. A half-assed guitar player am I. Just when you think that actual musicians are fading away, this happens. I'm just now discovering them. And already I can see that they have shattered through the ceiling. Someone else said it here in the comments and I agree. This band has carved out a new genre. But I can hear the influences. This guy Tim definitely has some Steve Vai albums in his Wurlitzer. This is awesome!
Actual musicians are fading away??? My brother in christ the music scene is BURSTING with raw talent these days. There is not a single sincere musician alive today that would consider themselves a dying breed.
Polyphia are excellent, but they aren't a new genre. Instrumental rock has a long pedigree. If you want more check out Animals as Leaders, Don Caballero, Battles, This Will Destroy You

Polyphia reminds me of like a modern version of a classical string quartet. 2 violins=2 guitars, cello=drums, viola=bass. Wow!! You guys are wonderful. Just discovered you and am amazed. Beautiful musicianship. I’m 67 years old and big fan of Zappa, Vai, Keneally etc. So pleased to meet you kids. All those many hours of intense practice has definitely paid off!! Xxx
Awesome song all-together. Also where's all the comments on the bassist?! Everything came together beautifully.
Polyphia has smashed it again! Clay Squared out here expertly locking into the groove, Scott's ripping through beautiful lines with this addictive melody, and Tim's innovating once again by using Selective Picking to play TRIPLETS at an inconceivable speed on guitar. (Seriously, slow down the parts like 0:09 to 0.5 speed, it's RIDICULOUS how melodic that run actually is)
Don’t try .25 speed lol, it gets pretty weird almost sounds like Aphex Twin
Clay² got me rolling lol
Micro solos to flex between musical phrases
16th note triplets at approx. 140bpm is an inconceivable speed?
@@biscobisco1882 relax.
From nylon string guitars with natural sounds to literal art pieces with the instruments and mv; they literally got such a wide range harmonically and visually
So nice to hear some original refreshing music. These guys and Berried Alive, my two favorite bands right now!
Thanks for Berried Alive, that's pretty fucking awesome
@@martinvoyard354 No problem. Always happy to spread the word about a good band and people appreciate them!
This is like Gentle Giant with guitars instead of keyboards. I bought my first Gentle Giant album with my first King Crimson album (Lizard, fwiw). I clicked on this thinking it might be a cover of a King Crimson song. Everything is cyclical. I'm now a fan.
The guitars are recorded so well they feel unreal, the production of this music video is just amazing
Too bad their music is soulless.
@@dragonballfanscantread2383 old man take
@@dragonballfanscantread2383 you really out here trying to stop people from enjoying things on every comment huh? Soulless existence more like
@@SpicyTortilla69
Never once said people can't enjoy Soyliphia.
@@dragonballfanscantread2383 weird
The camera work on this is insane!
its a robot lol
@@Jinni_SD I understand these are rotating arms and post-production camera pans. You still compliment the cinematographer for setting this up and envisioning it, don't you? Christ, people these days.
Your music sounds so different from anything I have heard, you guys are in a league of your own.
Just discovered this song and I can’t stop listening on repeat
This is so similar to their old material it’s such a cool return to that sound
I thought the same thing, it's a nice splash back to some of their older EPs
Some of the lead lines feel right out of the Inspire EP. I won't lie, I really miss that sound. This is sort of a mesh between that old style and their newer more experimental work. Hope there's a heavier song more reminiscent of that era of Polyphia in the new album though.
@@aninfinitemindofmusicandreams for real, I can totally appreciate all of their catalog, but I've kinda fallen off the last few years. Looking forward to this new album
@@kylehodges5897 Same here. The newer sound is cool but it's not really my cup of tea. The old heavier and more shred style guitar stuff I prefer a lot more.
This is like a combination of their new and old style
There's absolutely no genre or sound that Polyphia can't nail... Call it Polyphication.
Make love to their music, call it Polyphornication
I dig this name ! From now on that's what it's called. POLYPHIA FANS MAKE THE WORLD HEAR THE POLYPHORNICATION
stop trying to make up pointless words you nerds
It's like a compilation of different solo's, different instruments in loop. Never the less talented artist.
they are the most beautiful guitars ive ever seen
They write hooks better than pop music songwriters. Definitely the most creative guitar and full band alive today.
Ain't a full band without a singer but otherwise agree
@@loganbradford2343 its meant to be an instrumental band bro, they are complete lol
@@loganbradford2343 So instrumental music is just not written by bands
@@loganbradford2343 Chino from Deftones and Tillian Pearson from DGD are on the new album so look forward to some vocals!
Lol writing better than pop artists is an extremely low bar
